"I still don't get the hype around Pyongyang cold noodles...!"
If that thought has ever crossed your mind,
this review of Seoryeong—one of Seoul's top 3 Pyongyang Naengmyeon spots—is for you.
I used to be in the exact same boat.
I really didn't understand the appeal of this famously subtle dish
until one bite here completely changed my mind.
I don't usually write dedicated reviews
for local restaurants unless they truly blow me away,
but this spot near Seoul Station was so incredibly delicious
that I just had to share it with you all! :)
In today's post, we'll cover:
✔️ Why Seoryeong is a must-visit in Seoul |
✔️ CatchTable booking tips & wait times |
✔️ Menu recommendations & prices |
✔️ An honest review of this Michelin-listed gem |
Let's dive right in!
1. Why Seoryeong is a Must-Visit in Seoul
When locals talk about the top 3 Pyongyang cold noodle spots in Seoul,
names like ✔️ Eulmildae,
✔️ Jinmi, and
✔️ Woo Lae Oak usually dominate the conversation.

But Seoryeong, the place I recently visited,
is an absolute powerhouse in the cold noodle scene.
They've rightfully earned their spot on the Michelin Guide Seoul
and have bagged multiple Blue Ribbon survey awards.

It's incredibly popular among local office workers
looking for a refreshing lunch near Seoul Station.
I actually stumbled upon it while exploring Namdaemun Market,
drawn in by the Michelin plaque,
and it turned out to be one of the best meals of my trip.

Ever since that visit, whenever friends ask me
for an authentic Pyongyang Naengmyeon recommendation,
Seoryeong is always my first answer.
Yes, there's usually a wait,
but if you use the CatchTable app to join the remote waitlist,
you can get a table surprisingly fast.
Because it's a noodle joint, table turnover is incredibly quick.
I'll break down the CatchTable booking process
and wait times in the next section!
2. CatchTable Booking Tips & Wait Times
I visited the main branch of Seoryeong.
It's about a 5-minute walk (~0.2 miles) from Namdaemun Market
and just 3 minutes from Sungnyemun Gate.

It's also a 15-minute walk (~0.7 miles) from Seoul Station
and 5 minutes from Hoehyeon Station,
making it super accessible via public transit.
They also have a second location over in Jamsil.
📍 Seoryeong Main Branch
1st Floor, 10 Sowol-ro, Jung-gu, Seoul
📍 Seoryeong Lotte World Mall Branch
6th Floor, Lotte World Mall, 300 Olympic-ro, Songpa-gu, Seoul
Because it's situated right in the middle of a bustling business district,
lunchtime crowds are practically guaranteed.
However, if you book ahead using CatchTable,
you can skip the physical line and walk right in.
Using CatchTable for Seoryeong is
super straightforward. Just follow the steps
in the screenshots below! :) 🔻🔻

I joined the virtual queue around noon on a weekday.
I was 15th in line,
but it only took about 15 minutes
before my number was called.
Noodle spots are famously fast-paced!

3. Menu Recommendations & Prices

As a perennial top-tier contender for
Seoul's best cold noodles,
the Naengmyeon is obviously the star of the show.
However, they also offer larger dishes like Bulgogi (marinated beef)
and Sinseollo (royal hot pot) for groups.
Keep in mind that those two group dishes are only
available after 5:00 PM on weekdays, making them dinner exclusives.
<📌 Seoryeong Menu & Prices>
Menu Item | Price (USD) |
Seoryeong Sunmyeon (Water Noodles) | ~$13 |
Bibim Sunmyeon (Spicy Noodles) | ~$13 |
Perilla Oil Sunmyeon | ~$13 |
Steamed Dumplings (3 pcs / 6 pcs) | ~$5 / ~$9 |
Pork Neck Slices (Jeyuk) | ~$15 / ~$28 |
Bulgogi | ~$30 |
Sinseollo (Royal Hot Pot) | ~$92 |
I've only ever visited for lunch,
so I stick to the cold noodles.
Personally, I highly recommend their signature classic:
the Seoryeong Sunmyeon.

The subtly savory, deeply rich meat broth
is absolutely out of this world.
Read on for my full taste test! :)
4. Honest Review of Michelin-Listed Seoryeong
I found Seoryeong completely by chance
while searching for good eats near Seoul Station.

Because it's so close to Namdaemun Market, Sungnyemun, and Myeongdong,
it's the perfect culinary pit-stop
during a day of Seoul sightseeing.
As mentioned, I used CatchTable
to secure my spot before arriving.
The restaurant was already packed to the brim.
Weekday lunches here are no joke—
the local crowds love this place.

You order via a tablet at your table.
As expected from a Michelin-recognized establishment,
the interior was spotless and exceptionally well-maintained.
Our food arrived pretty quickly,
maybe 10 minutes after ordering.
We ordered two bowls of Seoryeong Sunmyeon
and a plate of 3 Steamed Dumplings.
I've tried their spicy Bibim noodles before,
but honestly, the water-based cold noodle is the true star.
It's far superior.

This was my first time trying their dumplings.
They are meat-based,
and I was genuinely shocked by how incredibly juicy they were!

At roughly ~$1.50 per dumpling,
they are worth every single penny.
Consider this a mandatory side dish!
And then, the main event... the beloved cold noodles. 💕

The broth isn't overly bland (a common complaint for beginners),
yet it retains that deep, savory meat essence.
It's the absolute perfect bowl for someone trying Pyongyang Naengmyeon for the first time.

The 100% buckwheat noodles have a wonderful earthy aroma
that pairs flawlessly with the rich broth.

A pro-tip is to eat half the bowl as-is, then add a splash of their house vinegar.
Honestly, though, the original broth is so spectacular
that you don't even need the vinegar.

If you're hunting for the best Pyongyang cold noodles in Seoul,
Seoryeong near Namdaemun is an absolute must-visit!! ⭕️⭕️
5. Final Thoughts

Today, I shared my experience at Seoryeong,
a restaurant that earned its Michelin stripes
through the mastery of Pyongyang cold noodles.
Like I said, I was never a fan of this dish before,
but eating here completely opened my eyes
to the true charm of authentic Pyongyang Naengmyeon.
Seoryeong is open on both weekdays and weekends,
but be prepared for a wait, especially
during the weekday lunch rush.

Because of that, booking via CatchTable is practically mandatory!
Make sure to snag your spot virtually before you arrive
so you can enjoy this incredible meal without the hassle of waiting in line :)
Until next time! ~~
