Daemulseom Jongno Review: Best Aged Sashimi in Seoul
Discover Daemulseom Jongno, a vibrant seafood hotspot near Jongak Station famous for its premium aged flatfish sashimi, cozy semi-private rooms, and local charm.
Hi everyone!
I recently ended up hosting two group dinners at a fantastic seafood restaurant near Jongak Station.
We visited Daemulseom Jongno, which is currently one of the hottest local spots in the area.
With its semi-private rooms, it’s an ideal spot for a lively group gathering or an authentic Korean "hoesik" (company dinner).
Here is my honest review of this Jongno hotspot, where we feasted on some incredible aged sashimi.

This is a shot from my very first visit.
We ordered the Aged Large Flatfish Sashimi (Daegwang-eo), and I believe this was the Large size.
Medium: ~$36 / Large: ~$50
While it is on the pricier side, the quality of the fish makes it completely worth it! 🐟
The fresh perilla leaves served on the side are incredibly fragrant,
and pairing them with their signature Salt Gimbap creates the ultimate flavor combination.
I'd probably skip the boiled sea snail next time,
but the Clam Kalguksu (noodle soup) had an absolutely phenomenal, comforting broth!!!

And here is my second visit!
This was a much larger corporate gathering, with nearly 20 of us dining together.
The location is incredibly convenient since it's just a short walk from Jongak Station.
Please note: There is absolutely no parking available here!

They also open for lunch, offering specials like the Daemul Set and hot noodle dishes.
One important thing to keep in mind is the strict 2-hour-and-20-minute table limit.
On both visits, we had to wrap up and head out right on the dot. This place is seriously popular!

While it's not a completely closed-off private restaurant, Daemulseom does offer partitioned rooms.
These are semi-private spaces,
and since there are many large groups like ours, the overall atmosphere does get quite lively and loud!
Still, having these designated spaces makes it a fantastic option for hosting a group event.

For our second round, we immediately kicked things off by ordering the aged flatfish sashimi and Salt Gimbap.
The fish is cut into thick, generous pieces, and it tasted just as phenomenal as the first time!
Seriously, do not forget to order the Salt Gimbap to go with it. It's a must-try combo! haha

The Salt Gimbap really elevates the whole dining experience.
The restaurant sources premium flatfish weighing over 6.6 lbs directly from the coast,
which is then expertly aged by a head chef with 22 years of Japanese culinary experience.

What's great about this Jongak seafood spot is that they don't just serve fish—
they actually have Bossam (tender boiled pork belly) on the menu too, which is perfect for anyone in your group who might not eat raw fish! lol

We also splurged on the Domi Gonowada (Sea Bream with Sea Cucumber Intestines) for ~$42.
It's a bit pricey, but since it was a company-sponsored dinner, we enjoyed every single bite!
If you are looking for premium aged sashimi near Jongak Station,
or trying to find the perfect lively spot for a group dinner in Jongno,
I highly recommend checking out Daemulseom Jongno!
