1. Why I Chose Shimdo Hotel & Spa Sillim
I wanted a relaxing city staycation in Seoul
because traveling far felt like too much of a chore,
and I needed to be in the city the next day anyway.
My main criteria were:
✔️ A private in-room spa (not a public bathhouse!)
✔️ Close to a subway station for easy access
✔️ Budget-friendly so it wouldn't break the bank
Usually, hotels only check one or two of these boxes,
but Shimdo Hotel & Spa nailed all of them!
It's a 1-minute walk from Sillim Station, offers private spas,
is incredibly reasonable on weekdays,
and has that cozy, aesthetic Japanese vibe
that made our couple's staycation feel so special!
2. Location & Hassle-Free Check-In
📍 Shimdo Hotel & Spa Sillim Branch
7 Nambusunhwan-ro 181-gil, Gwanak-gu, Seoul
The hotel is located right outside Exit 8 of Sillim Station!
Because it's so close to the station, rolling a suitcase here is a breeze.
Plus, the surrounding neighborhood is packed with great local restaurants and convenience stores,
making it the perfect spot to order takeout or delivery for a cozy night in ♥️

The sleek exterior stands out immediately.
There is a Percent Coffee on the first floor,
which is super convenient for grabbing an iced americano on your way in
or waking up to a fresh brew after checkout ♥️

Check-in is done via a self-service kiosk,
so arriving late is completely stress-free.
They also have a designated Delivery Zone in the lobby.
Security is tight, so delivery drivers can't go up to the rooms without a key card,
meaning you can safely pick up your food right here.

Disposable amenity kits are available for purchase,
and since it's a spa hotel, they also sell colorful bath bombs.
Tossing a bath bomb into your private tub
makes the whole experience feel like a luxury spa retreat 🧡💛💙
3. Signature Double Spa Room Tour
Let's look inside the Signature Double Spa layout.
The room is thoughtfully divided into three main zones:
The bedroom, the tatami corner, and the private spa.
First, the bedroom area:

Isn't the aesthetic incredibly soothing?
The warm beige tones give it a high-end boutique feel,
and the elegant Hanja characters for "Shimdo" (Mind Island)
add a beautifully sophisticated touch.
See the high-definition beam projector mounted on the ceiling?
It projects a massive, crisp screen onto the entire wall,
making it perfect for a cozy movie night with your favorite streaming apps.

Since this is a dedicated spa hotel,
they provide thick, high-quality bathrobes that feel incredibly plush.

This sliding door next to the entryway? It's actually the bathroom door!
I loved how the entire space was designed with such stylistic consistency.
It’s these little details that elevate the entire experience
into a true high-quality healing space.

The bathroom features a clean shower stall,
fully stocked with premium shampoo, conditioner, and body wash.
The private spa is a separate area,
so keep reading to see the best part! 👇👇
4. The Highlights: Private Spa & Tatami Tea Room
The absolute highlight of Shimdo Hotel is, without a doubt, the spa.

This isn't just a standard bathtub in a bathroom.
They've designed a gorgeous indoor garden aesthetic with a pine tree installation...
Soaking here feels like you're looking out at a peaceful forest,
giving you an instant sense of deep relaxation.

There's a wooden bath tray across the tub,
perfect for setting down a cold craft beer,
or resting a book while you enjoy a long soak.
They also provide an essential oil burner,
filling the room with a soothing aroma to calm your mind.
It is truly the ultimate self-care setup ♥️
Since we are in the peak 2026 summer holiday season, prices can fluctuate,
and weekend spa rooms tend to book out incredibly fast.
I highly recommend checking the rates for your specific dates ahead of time 👇
(Seriously, the spa rooms are the first to go!)
And finally...
What makes Shimdo Hotel feel extra special
is the traditional tatami tea room corner!

Are we in Seoul or Kyoto? 😮
You get authentic Japanese ryokan vibes right in the middle of Seoul.
They don't just leave you with cheap tea bags;
they provide a stylish gooseneck electric kettle
and a beautiful ceramic tea set.
Sipping warm green tea here in the morning was incredibly peaceful 😌
That wraps up my staycation review of Shimdo Hotel & Spa Sillim!
I highly recommend this hotel for:
✔️ Couples looking for a unique date night or anniversary stay
✔️ Anyone wanting a relaxing getaway without leaving the city
✔️ Travelers who love the aesthetic and vibe of traditional Japanese ryokans
