When locals think of spicy mushroom hot pot and noodles in Seoul, Deungchon is always the first name that comes to mind!
The interior is spacious with plenty of tables, but since it was packed with diners, I only took photos at angles that would respect their privacy. Given its convenient location near Seoul Station, it is also a popular spot for group gatherings.
Seeing how crowded it was for a Sunday lunch, I knew we were in for an authentic, delicious meal!

Here is the table we were guided to. Instead of open gas burners, they use clean induction cooktops, which keeps the table neat and prevents the dining area from getting uncomfortably warm. I loved this modern touch!

The Ultimate Seoul Station Shabu-Shabu

This is the absolute standard of Korean comfort food: two portions of the famous Mushroom Kalguksu at Deungchon Shabu Kalguksu Seoul Station.
Look at that vibrant green water dropwort (minari) piled high! It is incredibly fresh and aromatic.

We ordered two portions of the Mushroom Kalguksu and added one plate of beef. The course naturally includes both the thick wheat noodles (kalguksu) and the ingredients for the final egg fried rice.
This three-step course is the perfect dining progression!

The beef quality is fantastic, with a beautiful red color. It is the key to making the spicy broth taste even richer as it cooks.

For the final course, you can choose to make a soft egg porridge yourself, or have the staff cook up their signature savory fried rice.
If you choose the fried rice, the staff will take it to the kitchen and expertly stir-fry it to crispy perfection for you!

These aren't just ordinary noodles. They are thick, chewy, and perfectly crafted to absorb the rich, spicy broth. Every element here—the broth, the noodles, the beef—is spot on.
No wonder this place is always packed!

Honestly, even though I ate this yesterday, writing about it makes me want to go right back. It is that satisfying.
The broth is spicy, clean, and incredibly refreshing—the ultimate way to sweat out your stress!
My partner kept saying, "Wow, this is so good... this is incredible," after almost every single bite. I was just as thrilled with the meal!

Even the kimchi here is outstanding. Now, let me show you how this beautiful hot pot experience unfolds!

Once the flavorful broth, water dropwort, potatoes, and mushrooms start bubbling, you are ready to begin!

Time to drop in the beef!
At this stage, the broth becomes absolutely magical. It is the kind of deeply savory, spicy broth you wish you could carry around in a thermos. It is incredibly refreshing, spicy, and highly addictive.

Look at that beautiful simmer!
Along with the fantastic food, the staff at the Seoul Station branch are incredibly friendly and attentive, which makes the dining experience even better.

The flavor lives up to the presentation. Who first thought of this genius combination of ingredients?
Fun fact: water dropwort (minari) is known to help detoxify the body, boost immunity, and provide anti-aging benefits. Eating healthy while enjoying a feast is a win-win!

The oyster mushrooms are another essential component. They are loaded with antioxidants, help boost immunity, and are great for healthy weight management. Nourishing your body never tasted so good!
This was easily one of the best meals I have had recently.

Once you have enjoyed the beef and vegetables, it is time for the next course: the kalguksu noodles.
True to its reputation, the knife-cut noodles are incredibly chewy and soak up the concentrated, flavorful broth beautifully.
A bite of tender potato, a slurp of chewy noodles, and a spoonful of the rich broth is pure heaven!

And finally, the ultimate "dessert"—the signature fried rice! They take your pot to the kitchen and fry it to the absolute perfect level of crispiness, making it super convenient.
They assign pot numbers to each table, so there is never any worry about getting your pot mixed up with another table's order.
If you are looking for an incredibly satisfying, authentic local meal near Seoul Station that is worth every penny, I highly recommend checking out Deungchon Shabu Kalguksu!
