Hello everyone!
I'm your travel blogger, Ogurung.
“Are you searching for a relaxing, family-friendly outing
spot in Seoul?”
It's always a challenge to decide where to go on weekends. Traveling far can be exhausting, and it's wonderful to find a place where kids can run and play freely!
I recently took a refreshing stroll through Yeouido Park, and I highly recommend it. Beyond its sprawling lawns and scenic walking paths, you can also catch a glimpse of the Seoul Moon hot air balloon, which has become a new landmark in Yeouido.
Today, I'll share my experience at Yeouido Park and provide all the details for reserving and enjoying the Seoul Moon!
01. Yeouido Park: A Fantastic Spot for Kids in Yeouido

Yeouido Park is a large urban park with excellent accessibility, conveniently located near Yeouido Station (Line 5) and National Assembly Station (Line 9).
Spanning approximately 57 acres, it acts as a green bridge connecting Mapo-gu and Yeongdeungpo-gu.

The park features diverse zones, including a Traditional Korean Forest, a vast Lawn Plaza, a Cultural Plaza, and a Natural Ecosystem Forest.

Originally an old airfield, this space was transformed into a spacious and refreshing green retreat in 1999.
Situated in the heart of Seoul, it's a perfect Yeouido walking course that delights both local office workers and families visiting with children!

Indeed, on the day I visited, there were many families enjoying the park with their children.
I saw kids riding bikes and inline skates, families picnicking with blankets and lunchboxes, and plenty of couples enjoying a romantic stroll.

Yeouido Park boasts many lush, mature trees, providing ample shade throughout.
This makes it a cool place for a walk, and with numerous benches available, it's an ideal Yeouido activity, even for escaping the summer heat.

If you're driving, you can use one of the two parking lots below.

02. What's that Hot Air Balloon in Yeouido Park?

As you walk through Yeouido Park, a massive hot air balloon will catch your eye in the distance.
This is none other than the popular 'Seoul Moon'!

The Seoul Moon is a helium-filled hot air balloon that ascends vertically while tethered by cables.
It climbs to a maximum height of 426 feet, with the flight lasting approximately 15 minutes.
Offering panoramic views of the Han River and Seoul's cityscape, it's a highly popular Yeouido attraction for both locals and international tourists!

The sunset hours are particularly recommended for stunning photos, so try to plan your visit to coincide with dusk.
