1. Yang Hyellan Restaurant: Great Value Jeju Hansik

We kicked off a weekend morning, breathing in the delightful morning air of Seogwipo, Jeju Island, with my little one.
As locals, my husband, son, and I went out for a morning stroll, and as we walked along the refreshing Olle Trail, our tummies quickly started rumbling.
We found Yang Hyellan Restaurant, a Seogwipo eatery beloved by locals, where you can enjoy a healthy, heartwarming, home-cooked style meal that offers great value.
It's a well-known, great-value Seogwipo restaurant tucked away in an alley of the new city area near the World Cup Stadium.

A friend who visited raved about this place, and even locals mentioned it as a must-try restaurant, so I kept it in mind and finally visited on my own dime.
It's a Jeju Island Hansik restaurant where the aroma of freshly cooked rice and warm hospitality fill the air from morning till night, making it a popular spot for both hotel guests and locals looking for a delicious Jeju breakfast.

With its impeccably served full table setting and incredibly reasonable prices, this is exactly the place I want to introduce to anyone wondering where to have breakfast in Seogwipo, Jeju. I'll share all the details, from its location to the quality and taste of its set menus.
2. Yang Hyellan Restaurant: Location and Atmosphere

While the exterior seemed ordinary and humble, the interior was surprisingly pleasant and clean, giving it the vibe of a neat 'baekban' (Korean set meal) restaurant rather than an old establishment. My first impression was of a comfortable Seogwipo restaurant on Jeju Island.

Since it's a restaurant that operates from early morning until late evening, you can come not only for Jeju breakfast but also for lunch and dinner.

If you come directly from Jeju Airport, it's about a 50-minute drive. However, popular city attractions like Cheonjiyeon Falls and Oedolgae are within about a 10-minute drive, making it easy to visit as part of a tour.
As locals familiar with the area, we instinctively parked in a nearby alley, but there was also free parking available near the restaurant.

Hung on various walls inside are banners detailing how to best enjoy each dish with photos and explanations, making you feel that this Jeju Hansik restaurant is truly passionate about its flavors.

As soon as we sat down, they served us refreshing tea, and all the staff members were so friendly that I had a great feeling about our first visit.
The tables were generously spaced and well-arranged, allowing us to comfortably settle in and enjoy our meal without any inconvenience. There were also floor seating tables available on one side, which made me think it would be perfect for families with children to dine in comfort.
3. Value-for-Money Menu

Yang Hyeran Restaurant is famous for its 'jang' (marinated) dishes,
such as marinated slipper lobster, marinated octopus, and marinated golden crab.
Menu
Standard Set Menu
(per person) ~$7
3 main dishes including spicy stir-fried pork (Jeyuk-bokkeum) + grilled fish + pan-fried tofu +
traditional seaweed + fresh greens for wraps + various side dishes
Add-on Marinated Set Meal (per person)
+ Marinated Slipper Lobster ~$9
+ Marinated Octopus ~$14
+ Marinated Golden Crab ~$14
A La Carte
Braised Beltfish with Bracken Fern ~$11
Black Pork Duruchigi (Spicy Stir-fry) ~$9 (Minimum 2 servings)
Assorted Grilled Fish ~$23 (for 2 people)
(4 types of fish + rice + soup + traditional seaweed + side dishes)
You could also order additional 'jang' (marinated) dishes separately.
Since it was our first visit,
and we wanted a simple, comforting Jeju Seogwipo breakfast,
we started by ordering the value-for-money set menu for ~$7 per person.

We figured if it was delicious, we'd definitely come back another time
and try adding a marinated dish.
4. The Taste of an Abundant Spread

It's natural for locals, and for travelers too,
that visiting only expensive tourist restaurants every time
can feel like a burden, right?
That's when a visit here is perfect – you get a generous Jeju-style set meal
that's affordably priced, uses healthy ingredients, and tastes amazing.
Soon after we sat down and ordered,
a truly generous and meticulously prepared meal was set before us –
it was hard to believe it was only ~$7 per person!
In Jeju, it's not common to find spicy stir-fried pork (Jeyuk-bokkeum)
that's as intensely flavored as it is on the mainland.
At Yang Hyeran's Set Meal Restaurant in Seogwipo, Jeju,
the Jeyuk-bokkeum was mild yet flavorful,
and wonderfully tender.

Wrapping a generous bite in fresh ssam-ya채 (leafy greens) and savoring it –
it truly brought me back to life!

The grilled fish arrived perfectly golden brown and crispy.
It wasn't oily at all, offering a clean, savory taste, and the seasoning was just right.
My son, too, happily devoured it, quickly taking big flakes of fish
off his white rice.

The tofu was pan-fried until golden and served with a soy sauce seasoning –
it was light and savory, not greasy at all.

Even the basic side dishes (banchan) like braised anchovies, kimchi, and seasoned seaweed stems
tasted just like my mom makes them at home,
making for a truly comforting meal.

The clam-infused seaweed soup (miyeok-guk) was also
wonderfully warm and savory, so delicious that
I quickly mixed rice into it and finished it all.

Best of all, the crispy traditional seaweed (gim) was fantastic! And since there's a self-service corner where you can refill all the basic side dishes and gim,
we could truly enjoy an abundant feast.

My son, who is in 7th grade and 184cm tall, and my husband, who is 190cm tall,
rarely go to typical Jeju Korean set meal restaurants because one bowl of rice is simply not enough for them.

However, at Yang Hyeran Restaurant, you can endlessly refill your rice bowls yourself
at the self-service station, which means our family of big eaters could enjoy a truly generous meal.
It was the perfect Jeju breakfast for us!
5. Concluding Our Jeju Seogwipo Breakfast

For just ~$7, we enjoyed spicy stir-fried pork, grilled fish,
pan-fried tofu, unlimited rice refills, and meticulously prepared side dishes,
making for a delightful morning that delivered both great value and a satisfying meal.
It felt like a comforting home-cooked meal, not too stimulating yet easy on the stomach,
so even after our whole family ate their fill, we all felt incredibly comfortable.
Next time, I definitely want to try their 'Jang' (fermented paste) menu options too.

With my husband, a big eater, and my growing son,
we could all fill up heartily without worrying about the rice portions.
As locals, our family genuinely felt happy and satisfied after this generous Jeju-style Korean set meal.
Most of the ingredients are locally sourced from Korea and Jeju,
so if you're looking for a healthy, home-cooked style meal like mom made, at an affordable price,
I highly recommend visiting Yang Hyeran Restaurant – it's perfect for families with children or for treating your parents.
