Lately, this place has been trending all over social media as one of the most beautiful photo spots on Jeju’s eastern side. Locally, it is known as 'Chang-go-mang-nan-dol' in the unique Jeju dialect, which literally translates to 'a rock with a window-like hole.'
We lucked out with incredibly clear blue skies, which made the rugged rock formations look even more spectacular. It honestly exceeded all our expectations!
Before you reach the rock, you will walk along the historical Hwanhaejangseong—a stone wall built along Jeju coastlines centuries ago to defend the island against foreign invaders.
Right at the eastern edge of this historic wall, you will discover the uniquely shaped Changkkom Rock nestled among the volcanic basalt.

Because the weather was so perfect, we could clearly see Daryeodo Island perfectly framed right through the natural stone window. It was absolutely breathtaking!
While it is only a quick 1-minute walk from the parking lot, please make sure to wear sturdy sneakers! The path is made of raw, uneven volcanic basalt rocks. Some of the stones can be loose or slippery, and you do not want to twist an ankle while chasing the perfect shot.

If you are a K-drama fan, this spot might look familiar! This is the exact location from the hit series Extraordinary Attorney Woo, where attorney Jung Myung-seok reminisces about his past memories with his ex-wife.

Peering through the circular opening of Changkkom Rock reveals Daryeodo, an uninhabited island named after its resemblance to a seal. It looks incredibly close from the shore!

The natural framing makes for some of the most unique and artistic photos you can get on the island.

But even if you are not looking to fill your camera roll, just sitting here and listening to the waves crash against the volcanic rocks is pure therapy.

The red lighthouse contrasting against the deep blue sea is absolutely beautiful. I can only imagine how magical this place looks during sunset!

Did you know? Daryeodo Island is actually designated as one of Jeju City’s 31 Hidden Scenic Views. It is a must-see spot if you are exploring the eastern side of the island.
Make sure to add Changkkom Rock to your Jeju itinerary. It is a fantastic place to snap memorable photos, enjoy a peaceful sunset, and grab a coffee at one of the cozy bakery cafes nearby to round out your afternoon.
There is a spacious parking lot at the entrance of Changkkombawi Rock, and it is free for everyone to use. You can easily find it by searching for "Changkkomb" or "Changkkombawi" on your navigation system.
The island visible closely through the hole is Daryeodo, an uninhabited island named for its resemblance to a seal. It is selected as one of the 31 hidden scenic spots by Jeju City.
Although it is very close, just a 1-minute walk, the ground is made of uneven basalt, and the rocks can easily shift. We recommend wearing comfortable sneakers to prevent falling and to view the area safely.
