Planning a flight out of Cheongju International Airport (CJJ) to Jeju Island or an international destination, and wondering where to grab a bite before boarding?

Here is the quick lowdown: Cheongju Airport is a compact, highly efficient hub where the domestic and international terminals are housed in a single building. This makes navigating the airport incredibly easy.

Thanks to recent renovations, the airport has significantly upgraded its culinary scene. You can now find a fantastic variety of sit-down meals, local specialties, and quick snacks right inside the terminal.

To put it simply: the 1st floor is perfect for quick street food and snacks, while the 2nd floor is where you go for a proper, sit-down meal.

The 1st floor houses the arrivals and departures lobbies. If you are short on time or just want a light snack to hold you over, this is your go-to spot.

Mr. Hotteok

I stopped by here during my trip in March. Located right between Gates 1 and 2, they serve delicious sweet seed-filled griddlecakes (Ssiat Hotteok) for around ~$2.

The hotteok was perfectly crispy on the outside and packed with sweet, nutty filling. It was surprisingly satisfying!

They also serve other classic Korean street snacks like fish cakes (eomuk), churros, and hot dogs, making it a great pitstop for a pre-flight treat.

Baeknyeon-gage (Century-Old Shops)

Situated near Gate 1, this spot features mini-outlets of legendary local eateries: "Yukgeori Famous Dumplings" and "Na-deuri."

With a menu featuring comfort foods like spicy chewy noodles (jjolmyeon), steamed dumplings, and warm udon, it’s highly approachable. Getting to taste Cheongju’s local culinary heritage right inside the airport is a huge plus!

Coffeenie & CU Convenience Store

Right in the center of the 1st floor, you’ll find Coffeenie standing side-by-side with a CU convenience store.

It’s incredibly convenient for grabbing a quick iced americano, bottled water, or some classic Korean snacks to pack in your carry-on before you head upstairs.

If you are looking for a full, satisfying meal, head straight up to the 2nd floor. The absolute highlight here is the Flavor6 Food Court.

Flavor6 (Cheongju Airport Branch)

During our trip in May, my husband and I decided to have dinner here before our evening flight.

I ordered the comforting Seolleongtang (ox bone soup), and my husband went for the classic Korean-style pork cutlet (tonkatsu). Both made for a wonderfully hearty meal.

What blew us away was the incredible speed of the service.

We placed our order at the self-serve kiosk, walked over to find a table, and almost the second we sat down, our number buzzed on the screen! Talk about efficiency.

The ordering and prep times are very fast, making it highly recommended for solo travelers or business travelers who want a quick, fuss-free meal before flying.

Dessert & Cafe Lineup

Craving something sweet after your meal? The 2nd floor has some excellent dessert options.

You can grab premium croissants and pastries at Gontran Cherrier, indulge in rich butter ice cream at Beurre Beurre, or pick up a sweet pretzel at Twizzle. It’s the perfect way to enjoy a quiet coffee break before boarding.

Crucial Tip: Eat BEFORE Security!

This is the biggest mistake first-time visitors make at Cheongju Airport.

Almost all the major restaurants, cafes, and food courts are located in the public area (before security check).

Once you pass security and enter the departures lounge, your dining options drop dramatically. Make sure to get your meals on the 1st or 2nd floor before going through security.

Domestic Flights Allow Snacks on Board

If you are flying domestically (like the popular Cheongju-to-Jeju route), carry-on food regulations are quite relaxed.

You can bring most drinks, snacks, and fruits through security and onto the plane. If you are in a rush, grab some snacks from the 1st-floor CU convenience store to enjoy during your flight!
