Haejigae Cafe (해지개)
If you are planning a trip to the scenic west coast of Jeju Island, Aewol is a must-visit destination. During my recent coastal exploration, I stopped by Haejigae Cafe, a gorgeous oceanfront spot that perfectly blends traditional Korean design with modern cafe culture. Located right along the famous Handam Coastal Walk, it offers some of the most spectacular ocean views on the island.

The Bakery & Beverage Menu

The moment you walk in, you are greeted by an array of freshly baked, eye-catching pastries. What makes this bakery selection special is how they incorporate local Jeju ingredients into their recipes.

You will find unique creations like bread inspired by Jeju Omegi-tteok (a traditional mugwort and red bean rice cake) and pastries featuring sweet Jeju Hallabong (local citrus fruit).

We ordered the Omija (Schisandra berry) Ade, Hallabong Ade, and the signature Hallabong Pandoro. Often, cafes with panoramic views compromise on food quality, but Haejigae is an exception. The pastries are incredibly soft and delightfully citrusy, and the refreshing fruit drinks hit the spot perfectly. This is a genuine double threat: spectacular views and gourmet-level treats!
The Outdoor Terrace and Coastal Walk
The outdoor area is beautifully curated, offering an exotic, resort-like atmosphere. The contrast between the dark volcanic stones of Jeju and the emerald sea is absolutely breathtaking.

Right in front of the terrace, you will find direct access to the scenic walking path.

It is an incredibly peaceful trail to stroll along while listening to the waves crash against the shore. Don't forget to take some photos here—the natural lighting and sea backdrop are perfect for your travel feed.

The architecture seamlessly incorporates the charm of a traditional Korean Hanok. Seeing it in person is even more impressive than in photos. As you step inside, you can hear soothing, traditional-inspired music playing in the background, and you can even watch the bakers crafting pastries through a glass partition. It creates a deeply relaxing, authentic atmosphere.
Heading up to the second floor, you will find massive floor-to-ceiling windows that frame the ocean like a living painting. This spot is highly famous for its sunset views, making it the perfect place to unwind late in the afternoon.

The interior is incredibly spacious, clean, and air-conditioned, offering a refreshing escape from the warm Jeju sun.
While the cafe spans three floors, please note that the 3rd-floor rooftop is a No-Kids Zone for safety reasons. If you are traveling with children, the spacious and comfortable first and second floors are perfect for families!
Parking Information
You can park directly in front of the Haejigae building or use the spacious High World 2nd Parking Lot located right next door.
With its sweeping ocean views, authentic Hanok architecture, and incredible island-inspired pastries, Haejigae is easily one of the best cafes in Aewol. It is highly recommended for anyone looking to experience the true charm of Jeju's west coast!
