1. Enjoying the Outdoor Season at Woohwa Gopchang Dunsan-dong
The outdoor tables at Woohwa Gopchang are typically open from late April through early November. This means you have plenty of time to soak in that fantastic open-air atmosphere!
Here's a crucial tip: the coveted outdoor 'yajang' spots are available on a walk-in basis only. Reservations are not accepted for outdoor seating.

If you're dining with a larger group or have a fixed schedule, I highly recommend making a reservation for the indoor seating. The restaurant gets incredibly busy, even on weeknights, so it's always best to plan ahead.
Also, keep in mind that outdoor tables might not be available on rainy days or during extreme temperatures. If the weather looks iffy, it's a good idea to call ahead and check their outdoor seating status before you head out.

2. My Experience with the Woohwa Gopchang Assortment

To start, they bring out a delightful spread of side dishes, including tteokbokki (spicy rice cakes) and a comforting seaweed soup. They even politely ask if you'd like 'cheonyup' (beef tripe), which can be a bit polarizing. I love it, but my friend quickly learned it wasn't for her!

Dipped in salt, the tripe was incredibly fresh and nutty. My friend, however, took one bite and... well, let's just say it wasn't her favorite!

As always, we ordered the Woohwa Gopchang Assortment. This popular set includes gopchang (small intestines), makchang (abomasum), daechang (large intestines), yeomtong (heart), and even chadolbagi (beef brisket). It's such a perfect combination that I never have to think twice about what to order when I'm here.

The gopchang, daechang, and makchang arrive pre-grilled, and the staff provide a fantastic grilling service right at your table. This means you don't have to worry about burning anything, allowing you to relax and enjoy the meal even more.

They pride themselves on serving fresh meat, butchered and sold on the same day, which truly shines through in the incredible flavor and texture. The gopchang, bursting with rich internal fat, is pure bliss when dipped in their special sauce.

For the daechang, topping it with fresh chives and green onion kimchi perfectly cuts through any richness, creating a delightful balance of flavors.

I had every intention of staying sober, even driving there, but the moment I tasted that gopchang, all bets were off. Naturally, it ended with calling a designated driver!
Honestly, the assortment alone is incredibly filling, but with a little bit of soju left, I just *had* to order extra gopchang. It felt like a necessary indulgence!

Even though I was absolutely stuffed, I simply couldn't pass up the flying fish roe fried rice. It's a non-negotiable! Cooked until perfectly crispy on the bottom, it's savory and crunchy – so good that even when you're full, you'll somehow manage to finish every last bite. 😮💨
3. Woohwa Gopchang: A Must-Visit for Outdoor Dining in Daejeon

Among the many fantastic restaurants in Dunsan-dong, Woohwa Gopchang truly stands out when you're looking for both an incredible outdoor dining ambiance and top-notch gopchang quality.
Since outdoor seating is walk-in only, I recommend arriving a bit earlier to snag a spot. If you're with a bigger group, making an indoor reservation is definitely the safer bet.

If you're searching for the best outdoor dining spots in Daejeon and want to avoid a wasted trip, be sure to check their operating season and the weather conditions before you go!
