Finally, the season of gentle spring breezes is here.

Though mornings and evenings are still a bit chilly,

the warm, gentle winds and sunshine during the day lift our spirits.

I recently visited Uam Historic Park, one of Daejeon's top spring flower spots,

a place especially known as a cherry blossom hotspot and a crape myrtle attraction in Daejeon.

With spring just around the corner,

I'm excited to share the latest spring flower news from Uam Historic Park, Daejeon's beautiful spring blossom destination.

Uam Historic Park, Daejeon's celebrated spring flower spot, is located in Gayang-dong, Dong-gu, Daejeon,

with Daejeon Health College and Dong-Ah Meister High School nearby.

While free parking is available at Uam Historic Park,

it's a popular destination,

so the parking lot can get quite crowded, especially this time of year.

What is Uam Historic Park, Daejeon's Spring Flower Gem?

Uam Historic Park is a place where Uam Song Si-yeol, a Confucian scholar and master of Ye-hak (rituals and etiquette) from the late Joseon Dynasty, pursued his studies.

True to its name, it's designed as a park where historical sites and nature harmoniously blend,

offering not just a beautiful spot for flower viewing, but also a chance to stroll alongside history.

It's a peaceful and tranquil place for healing and reflection.

Though not large in scale, it features Namganjeongsa, Gigukjeong, Jangpangak, and other historical buildings,

with old houses, pavilions, and groups of steles spread throughout,

giving it the feel of a charming miniature Hanok village.

Especially Namganjeongsa, where the cherry blossoms bloom,

creates a picturesque scene with old traditional buildings blending beautifully with the cherry blossoms.

It's truly a scene straight out of a painting,

drawing many photographers and visitors who come to capture its beauty.

When spring arrives at Uam Historic Park,

delicate and beautiful spring flowers begin to bloom, one by one,

making the walking paths even more enchanting.

Doesn't it feel like spring is arriving a little later this year compared to last?

I was a bit disappointed that the red plum blossoms haven't bloomed yet.

However, the bright yellow cornelian cherry blossoms are in such beautiful bloom,

they truly give you that 'Ah, spring is here!' feeling.

📌 Plum Blossoms: Near the entrance of Uam Historic Park, around the pavilion

Currently, the plum blossoms are just starting to bloom,

with only some buds having burst open here and there.

Even though the white plum blossoms are beautiful as they are,

I think the entire trees will be in full bloom around this weekend or next week.

Still, seeing the shyly blooming plum blossoms under the warm sunlight made my heart feel soft and tender.

It will truly be a spectacular sight when they're in full bloom.

📌 Cornelian Cherry (Sansuyu): A Yellow Flower Path Along the Walkway

The vibrant yellow spring flower, Cornelian Cherry (Sansuyu),

is currently in full bloom from the very entrance all the way up.

These Cornelian Cherry blossoms, which are the first to announce spring,

are now in full, glorious bloom.

Interspersed with forsythia here and there, they dye the landscape in shades of yellow,

truly making you feel that spring has arrived.

Especially during sunny hours, they seem to shimmer even more brightly yellow,

making them perfect for photos.

📌 Red Plum Blossoms (Hongmaehwa): In front of Uam Historic Park's Relics Museum, and at the Jangpangak Staircase

There's one tree in front of the staircase leading to Jangpangak, not far from the Uam Historic Park entrance.

Another tree is in front of the Relics Museum.

And at the very top (behind Deokporu), you'll find more red plum blossoms.

While white plum blossoms are beautiful, the deep pink hues of the red plum blossoms

have such vivid colors that they're fantastic for photography.

Red plum blossoms bloom a little later than white plum blossoms.

On the day of my visit (March 25th), not even a single bud had burst open yet.

However, seeing the buds forming, it looked like they were getting ready to bloom soon.

I expect they'll start opening up one by one around next week.

The distinct deep color of red plum blossoms is incredibly pretty in photos,

making me truly want to visit again.

Besides these, magnolias and forsythias were also gradually starting to bloom.

Uam Historic Park is so tranquil and peaceful,

it's incredibly popular with locals and families looking for a lovely day out.

You'll find benches dotted around,

and with cherry trees planted throughout,

I imagine it'll become even more stunning once the cherry blossoms begin to bloom.

While the regular and red plum blossoms haven't quite reached full bloom yet,

there's no better place to soak up the gentle spring breeze and relax amidst nature.

From plum blossoms, red plum blossoms, cornus, forsythia, and magnolias to the cherry blossoms that will soon burst forth,

this upcoming weekend, bathed in warm sunshine,

experience the start of spring at Daejeon's premier spring flower spot,
