Woljeongri Beach
Today, let's explore one of Jeju Island's most enchanting coastal gems: Woljeongri Beach.
Located in Gujwa-eup, the name of this charming village translates to "the place where the moon stays."
True to its name, the sight of the moonlight reflecting on the emerald-toned ocean is like a living watercolor painting.
It's the perfect spot to feel the cool ocean breeze and dive into the crystal-clear water.
If you're planning a visit, keep in mind that the official swimming season is limited:
Opening Date: 07/01/2026
Closing Date: 08/31/2026

Woljeongri Beach is also a key stop along Jeju Olle Trail Route 20 (which connects Gimnyeong to Hado) as well as the scenic Gimnyeong-Woljeong Geo-Trail.
Location & Getting There
Woljeongri Beach is nestled on the eastern end of Jeju Island.
It takes about a 40-minute drive from Jeju International Airport. While public transit is available, renting a car is highly recommended to explore the island efficiently.
The coastal drive leading here is incredibly therapeutic, with the sound of crashing waves keeping you company.
The beach area is lined with trendy cafes and local restaurants, making it an ideal spot to grab a bite or enjoy a coffee with a view.
It's also a paradise for photography lovers, packed with aesthetic photo zones!
Parking
Parking Fee: Free
There is a convenient parking lot right in front of the beach. However, it is relatively small and fills up quickly, so arriving early is highly recommended.

Amenities: Restrooms & Showers
The beach is well-equipped with amenities, including parasols, sunbeds, and clean shower facilities.
Restrooms are located right next to the beach, across from the Hanaro Mart.
The public shower fee is approximately ~$1.
Note that toiletries like shampoo, conditioner, and body wash are not provided, so make sure to pack your own.
Sunscreen is an absolute must! The sun can be intense—I highly recommend bringing sunglasses and a sun umbrella for extra shade.

Things to Do & Water Sports
Beyond the cute souvenir shops and ocean-view cafes, Woljeongri is a hub for thrilling water sports.
The shallow waters and gentle slope make it incredibly safe and accessible for families with children.
It's perfect for relaxing activities like swimming and stand-up paddleboarding (SUP).
At the same time, certain sections of the beach receive consistent, clean waves, drawing surfers from all over.
With several surf schools and board rental shops right on the beach, even complete beginners can easily sign up for a lesson.
You can also try snorkeling or kayaking to explore the vibrant marine life.
Since rental gear is readily available, you don't need to pack heavy equipment. Seeing so many people catching waves will definitely tempt you to join in!
Here is a highly-rated surf shop located just a 2-minute walk from the shore:
