If you're exploring cafes in Nohyeong-dong, Jeju, but prefer a serene spot for a cup of tea over a bustling, large-scale coffee shop, then Uyeonmot, which I'm excited to share today, comes highly recommended.
Located conveniently about 15 minutes (roughly 7-8 miles) by car from Jeju Airport, Uyeonmot isn't your typical cafe. It's more accurately described as a teahouse, specializing in delightful blended teas crafted with locally sourced Jeju ingredients.

Having lived in Nohyeong-dong, Jeju, for over six years (from 2014 to 2020), I visited countless cafes in the area. Yet, Uyeonmot holds a uniquely special place in my memories.
It was one of the first cafes I discovered shortly after moving to Jeju, and it was also a place I made sure to revisit before my eventual departure from the island. It might seem like a small detail, but these experiences truly shaped my appreciation for this hidden gem.

What truly stood out during my first visit to Uyeonmot was the unique process of selecting your tea. Unlike simply ordering from a menu, here you get to personally smell the aromas of various teas before making your choice.

I'm by no means a tea connoisseur, but by taking the time to smell each aroma, I found it significantly easier to choose a tea that truly matched my preferences, much more so than just reading names or descriptions on a menu.

That's why Uyeonmot feels less like a conventional cafe where you simply grab a drink, and more like a true teahouse where you actively compare and experience different teas.
This unique experience at Uyeonmot left such a wonderful impression on me that I highly recommend it to anyone searching for a Nohyeong-dong cafe who might be craving something other than coffee, or who is curious to explore the world of Jeju's blended teas.

The tea I chose to enjoy at Uyeonmot that day was called Harvest Moon. This delightful decaffeinated blend combines Jeju-grown buckwheat, brown rice, and red beans, creating a truly unique flavor profile. From the moment I smelled it, I was drawn in by its nutty and smooth aroma, and sipping it brought a comforting, gentle grain fragrance that was utterly pleasing.

My husband, who visited with me, opted for Ginger Hug. This black tea offered a subtle ginger aroma paired with a refreshing taste. Beyond our selections, Uyeonmot boasts a diverse range of blended teas like Jeju Breakfast and Night of Gotjawal, as well as an extensive menu of single-origin teas such as Jeju Cheongcha, Sejak, and Baekho Eun-chim. There's truly something to suit every palate.

Beyond regular beverage orders, Uyeonmot also offers a dedicated tea tasting course. They prepare two seasonal teas perfectly suited for the day, making it an ideal program for avid tea lovers or anyone looking to delve deeper into Jeju's tea culture. Personally, I deeply regret not experiencing Uyeonmot's tea tasting course before leaving Jeju. It's definitely on my list for my next visit!
