With operating hours extending until 2 AM, it's perfect for enjoying a lively Friday night or spending quality time with your partner or friends late into the evening.
I visited around 7 PM on a weekday and was seated immediately without any waiting, which was a pleasant surprise.
2. Inside Ugly: The Ambiance

Cocktail bars usually lean towards either a casual, budget-friendly vibe or a distinctly luxurious feel.
Ugly Cocktail Bar in Gangnam, however, offers a captivating blend of mystery and sophistication, making it an optimal choice for a first date or a romantic outing.

The ceiling design, in particular, evokes a tarot card aesthetic, giving Ugly a truly unique atmosphere that sets it apart from typical Gangnam cocktail bars.

While the overall lighting is slightly dim, it's not so dark that you can't see; rather, it perfectly enhances the classic cocktail bar ambiance.

Seating options include both standard table settings and more private, room-like partitioned areas.
There are also seats available on the upper level and outside, which would be fantastic for enjoying a drink on a pleasant evening, almost like a rooftop experience.

When I visited, I saw couples on dates and what looked like first dates. Interestingly, there were also patrons who seemed to be business associates, indicating that Ugly's ambiance is suitable not only for romantic occasions but also for casual conversations and relaxed meetings.
3. Menu & My Experience

At Ugly Cocktail Bar in Gangnam, we ordered three items:
Moai (~$14)
Holy Smoke (~$19)
Melon Prosciutto (~$18)

I particularly appreciated that Ugly's menu provided visuals for each cocktail. This was incredibly helpful!
For those who don't frequently drink alcohol, cocktail menus can often be intimidating with unfamiliar liquor bases or ingredient names, making it hard to imagine what they'll taste like.

I often find it challenging to choose when only names are listed, but here, being able to see the glass and the presentation beforehand made selecting our drinks much easier.

My order, the Moai, had a distinctly tropical feel.
With its sweet and tangy pineapple notes, it was incredibly easy to drink and instantly transported me to a vacation resort.

If you prefer sweet and refreshing cocktails over strong spirits, the Moai would be an excellent match for your palate.

On the other hand, the Holy Smoke immediately caught my eye on the menu because its glass was shaped like a cigarette.
With an alcohol content exceeding 30 proof, you could definitely feel the warmth of the alcohol with just one sip.

Each sip allowed me to trace the journey of the drink as it went down, making me feel like a rugged adult from a black-and-white film noir.

Since we had already enjoyed a hearty dinner, we opted for a light snack: Melon Prosciutto.
The combination of soft, sweet melon topped with savory prosciutto created a delightful balance of sweet and salty flavors that paired perfectly with our drinks.
Ugly Cocktail Bar in Gangnam is a fantastic recommendation for a first date or a romantic evening.
Its prime location and unique cocktail presentations make it a standout choice. If you're looking to elevate your night out beyond a typical bar and crave a more atmospheric experience, I highly recommend checking it out.
Until next time, I'll be back with more exciting travel tips!
