When you think of Udo Island in Jeju, what's the first thing that comes to mind? For many, it's the island's famous peanuts!

If you're making a trip to Udo, trying the peanut ice cream is an absolute must-do. With so many peanut ice cream shops scattered across the island, it can be tough to pick one. But today, I'm excited to share my experience at Udo Wangja Iyagi, widely known as the original creator of Udo's iconic peanut ice cream.

Udo Wangja Iyagi Location

Location: 1st Floor, 1122 Udo Coastal Road, Udo-myeon, Jeju-si, Jeju

Udo Wangja Iyagi actually boasts two locations: one near Sanho Beach and another closer to Geommeolle Beach. I visited the branch conveniently located near Geommeolle Beach, which made for a perfect post-sightseeing treat!

Shop Atmosphere

The shop is easy to spot thanks to the owner's friendly face on the signboard – you can't miss it!

Step inside, and you'll notice the walls adorned with photos and autographs from numerous celebrities who've stopped by. It's clear this place is a popular spot!

As you approach, the irresistible aroma of freshly roasted peanuts wafts from the shop entrance. It's truly a sensory delight that builds anticipation!

Udo Peanut Ice Cream Prices

Peanut Ice Cream, Hallabong Ice Cream: ~$4 each

Each ice cream is made to order right in front of you. This isn't just any pre-made dessert; it's crafted using their unique, proprietary recipe. They even blend in fresh Udo peanuts, which truly amplifies that wonderfully nutty flavor.

They generously top the ice cream with both finely ground and whole peanuts! What truly sets Udo Wangja Iyagi apart is their commitment to using 100% Udo-grown peanuts, unlike some other shops that might mix in imported varieties. That dedication definitely builds trust!

While many shops on Udo Island now sell peanut ice cream, Udo Wangja Iyagi is credited with originally developing and introducing it. Beyond peanuts, they also offer Hallabong ice cream. If you're craving something tangy and refreshing, I highly recommend it! Their Hallabong ice cream is so unique, it even has a registered patent.

The Hallabong ice cream at Udo Wangja Iyagi has a delightful yogurt base, making it perfectly refreshing. Knowing that they even make their own fruit puree speaks volumes about the quality ingredients they use.

And yes, you can even purchase Udo peanuts to take home!

My Order

I ordered both the Peanut Ice Cream and the Hallabong Ice Cream. The weather was beautiful that day, making it perfect to enjoy our treats outdoors with a stunning view of Geommeolle Beach. If you're visiting with a companion, I highly recommend ordering one of each to share!

The Hallabong was wonderfully tangy, and the peanut was rich and savory – a truly fantastic combination!

Another essential treat when visiting Udo Wangja Iyagi is their peanut bread! They generously fill each one with two whole peanuts.

With such a generous amount of Udo peanuts packed inside, the price felt incredibly reasonable!

The peanut bread itself was soft and nutty, with a delightful crispy crust around the edges. And here's a pro tip: try dipping the peanut bread into your ice cream – it's absolutely delicious! I highly recommend getting them as a combo.
