On my recent trip to Jeju Island,
I also ventured out to Udo,
and there's **one Udo restaurant that particularly stuck in my memory**
that I simply have to introduce to you all.
It's a raw fish restaurant called Hoeyang & Guksugun.
Overlooking the Udo sea,
it's one of the few raw fish restaurants on the island where you can
**savor freshly caught seasonal fish**.
When I visited, the owner actually
came back on his boat with the freshly caught fish,
and immediately prepared the seasonal sashimi right there,
making it even more impressive and delicious =)
This famous Jeju Udo Island eatery **has even been featured**
**on TV!**
Let me introduce you to Hoeyang & Guksugun right away =)

1. Hoeyang & Guksugun Location
📍 Hoeyang & Guksugun
270 Udo Coastal Road, Udo-myeon, Jeju-si, Jeju Special Self-Governing Province
The exact location of Hoeyang & Guksugun, the Jeju Udo Island must-try restaurant
I'm introducing today,
is Udo Coastal Road 270, Udo-myeon, Jeju-si,
and it's open daily from 10:30 AM to 9:00 PM.

Hoeyang & Guksugun is
**located right on Udo Coastal Road**, allowing you to see
the owner, who is also a boat captain, returning with his catch.
And when the owner isn't too busy,
you might even get the special service of him personally preparing your fish
and recommending the best way to enjoy it =)
I visited in the evening and enjoyed delicious sashimi
while watching the sunset.
With the ocean view combined with the sunset,
it was truly a work of art.
2. Interior Space

There are many outdoor seats that get plenty of sunlight and offer ocean views,
making them popular spots for both lunch and dinner,
especially on good weather days.

Inside, there are tables and seating available for about 20 people.
3. Menu

Here's the menu for Hoeyang & Guksugun.
It's often hard to find seafood hot pot or raw fish restaurants on Udo
that offer great value or affordable prices.
However, Hoeyang & Guksugun, a must-try restaurant on Jeju's Udo Island,
is a place where you can enjoy 100% wild-caught fish, personally caught by the owner,
**at a reasonable price with an incredible ocean view!**

A group of 4, including myself, visited.
We ordered Yeonguijeong Mulhoe (for 2-3 people), Seafood Ramyeon for 2, and Grilled Mackerel.
We ate until we were absolutely stuffed, even leaving some behind!
4. Our Experience

Oh, just looking at the photos, it's a work of art, isn't it?
It makes you want to eat it again,
truly one of the most satisfying restaurants we found on Udo Island, Jeju.

Let me tell you about the Yeonguijeong Mulhoe first.
Horn conch, sea squirt, octopus, mantis shrimp, whelk,
abalone, and even seasonal sliced raw fish (hoe) —
you can savor a total of 7 kinds of fresh seafood
right here on Udo Island.

Since the sliced raw fish (hoe) served is seasonal,
the exact selection might vary from day to day,
but the owner catches all the fish personally,
so freshness is absolutely guaranteed!
It was chewy and thick, offering a fantastic texture,
and the flavor just got better with every bite,
leaving us in constant awe.

After enjoying the sliced raw fish and other seafood,
we were able to savor it as mulhoe at the end.
While it's common to order sliced raw fish and mulhoe separately,
the experience of enjoying the hoe first and then transitioning it into mulhoe based on personal preference
is said to be a unique method found only on Udo Island.
The mulhoe broth wasn't the usual gochujang-based sauce,
but rather the owner's special doenjang-based sauce!
I thought it might be unbalanced,
but it turned out to be the best mulhoe broth ever! =)
It was both refreshing and savory.

We ordered a bowl of rice,
and eating it with the plump flesh of the grilled mackerel
felt like a truly satisfying meal.
Even sharing one mackerel among the four of us,
it was so plump and substantial that we ended up leaving some behind.
They really served up a grilled mackerel that was incredibly hearty.
Sometimes, grilled fish skin can be too oily or fishy elsewhere,
but here, it was perfectly balanced and wasn't fishy in the slightest.
It was savory and delicious.

Abalone, mussels, blue crab, octopus, shrimp, bean sprouts,
and finally, ramyeon noodles.
Although the menu item is called 'Seafood Ramyeon,'
it felt more like a seafood hotpot with added ramyeon noodles,
with so many different kinds of seafood and incredible flavor!
Usually, when ordering multiple dishes, you tend to stick to your favorites,
but at Hoehyanggwa Guksu-gun, this amazing Udo Island restaurant in Jeju,
everything was so delicious that our chopsticks simply couldn't stop moving.

Like me, you could enjoy the Udo sea view in the evening,
savoring hoe with the sunset, which is wonderful, but
And guess what? Their Hwe Guksu (raw fish noodles) and Mulhoe (cold raw fish soup), unique to Hoe Yang & Guksu Gun, are also said to be super popular dishes for a quick and easy lunch!
Honestly, Hoe Yang & Guksu Gun was so satisfying that I'd totally want to visit again if I ever return to Udo!
Hiiiiiiighly recommended!
