An absolute must-visit on any Jeju trip,
it's Udo (우도), the island within an island,
where an emerald sea unfolds.
Did you know that Udo's specialty product is peanuts?
I was genuinely surprised by how many peanut fields I saw while driving around.
So, what's the verdict? You absolutely HAVE to try them!

While taking in the magnificent scenery and the breathtaking view of Geommeolle Beach (검멀레해변),
I visited Udo Wangja Iyagi (우도왕자이야기),
the true original home of sweet Udo peanut ice cream.

The Original Taste, Enjoyed with the Scenery, Right in Front of Geommeolle Beach
Among all the Udo driving courses, the one I loved the most was
Geommeolle Beach.

With blue skies, stunning cliff views, a charming little beach below,
and Udo Wangja Iyagi situated right in front,
it was the perfect spot to savor dessert while soaking in the magnificent scenery.

Right from the entrance, you can see Udo peanuts spinning around!
They were roasting the peanuts themselves right there in the shop.
The owner was so cheerful and kind,
I felt a wonderful boost of positive energy!
The Original Udo Peanut Ice Cream? It's in a Class of Its Own!
The Rich Flavor of 100% Udo Peanuts
There are countless shops in Udo, but the true original is right here!
It's Udo Wangja Iyagi.

They mentioned that the shop is closed
on days when the ferry to Udo isn't running.

In many other shops, you'll often find them simply topping
commercial vanilla ice cream with a few peanuts.
But here? It's a whole different ball game!

They've ground peanuts directly into the ice cream base
using their own specially developed recipe.

Even just the ice cream itself had a distinct, rich nutty flavor,
What's more, unlike other places that mix in imported peanuts,
they use 100% pure Udo peanuts. When you taste the ice cream
and peanuts together, you'll instantly realize, 'Ah! THIS is how it's
meant to taste!'

I'm a huge fan of peanuts, normally.
Because of that, I'm a bit sensitive to the taste of stale, soggy peanuts or
imported ones that have lost their rich nutty flavor. But sure enough, after
one bite, I knew this place was different.

They generously pile Udo peanuts, which cost over ₩10,000 (~$8) per bag,
onto the ice cream.
I made sure to devour every single one, not wanting to miss even a single peanut!
Patented Handmade Hallabong Purée Ice Cream
I'd never seen this before!!
The peanut ice cream was already delicious, but the special ice cream
unique to this place, which has even completed new patent registration,
was none other than
Hallabong ice cream.

It wasn't just a drizzle of syrup, like a typical
tangerine dessert.
On top of the **refreshing yogurt-based ice cream**, there was a
generous dollop of **homemade Hallabong (한라봉) puree**, made
right in the shop.
The slight chewiness in this was truly captivating.

I usually don't enjoy sour flavors, so I rarely eat Hallabong
or regular tangerines.
But this had the perfect balance of delightful sweetness and a
subtle tang, making it feel like a much-needed shot of Vitamin C
for my body, weary from traveling to Udo (우도).

The taste was so luxurious and unique, something you couldn't
find anywhere else on Jeju Island (제주도) or Udo, that I almost wanted
to take it home with me!
Incredible Value: The Amazing New Udo Peanut Bread (우도 땅콩빵) and a Sweet Pairing Tip!
Introducing the hot-off-the-press new menu item:
Udo Peanut Bread!

The price — 20 pieces for ₩5,000 (~$4) — was hard to believe,
especially since each one was packed with savory Udo peanuts!

As I was wandering around and my mouth started craving something,
eating one of these brought back the savory taste of old memories.

I bet the older generation, like our parents, would absolutely adore these.

Try dipping this peanut bread deep into the soft-serve ice cream.
It'll be a whole new peanut combo experience!
Honest Review
The view from Geommeolle Beach (검멀레해변) was so stunning that
I took my ice cream and headed towards the sea.
However, the sun was strong, and of all days, it happened to be
quite windy when I visited.

The ice cream melted faster than I expected, so I recommend
enjoying the view with your eyes first, then finding a comfy indoor
seat to savor your treat slowly.

There were so many celebrity autographs in the shop; it really felt
like proof of how popular this spot is.

The pleasant energy of the owner, combined with the savory scent of
peanuts, lingered in the air.
The next morning, before leaving Udo,
I stopped by again for a morning coffee.

Enjoying a freshly baked peanut bread with a bittersweet cup of coffee
was absolutely perfect for a morning treat!

🔸Yearning to savor patented Hallabong ice cream?
🔸And dreaming of pairing it with some delightful peanut bread for a snack?
