When you're planning
a trip to Jeju Island,
one place that you'll likely search for
at least once is Udo Island.
You can reach Udo Island from both
Jongdal Port and Seongsan Port.
The ferry ride from Seongsan Port
to Udo Island, in particular,
only takes about 10-15 minutes,
which is much closer
than you might expect!
Even though it's located quite close
to Jeju's main island,
perhaps because you have to take a ferry to get there,
the moment you arrive
at Seongsan Port,
you already feel like
your adventure has begun!
But when you actually start planning your Udo trip,
you'll find you have more than just a few questions, right?

We've arrived at Seongsan Port!
We brought our car,
and we're heading to Udo Island.
We went around 11 AM,
and there were so, so many people!
The ticket office
was completely packed.
Prices
The most important thing,
of course, is the price!
Our group consisted of 4 adults, 1 elementary student, and 1 child,
for a total of 6 people.
Adult round trip: ~$8 * 4 people
= ~$30
Elementary student: ~$3 * 1 person = ~$3
Child (ages 2-7):
~$2 * 1 person = ~$2
Vehicle entrance fee (1 car, standard/large): ~$20
Provincial park vehicle admission: ~$3,
and children were charged ~$0.
The total was ~$58.
Middle and high school students pay ~$7.
Those with national merit receive a ~$1 discount.
Car prices vary for compact, mid-size, large, 9-seater, 12-seater, and 15-seater vehicles.
One family representative filled out two round-trip boarding declaration forms.
We listed 4 adults and 2 children, up to number 6 on the form.
They do check your ID card (Jumin Deungnokjeung).
You absolutely must bring it with you!
However, rental cars are not allowed on Udo Island
unless you have family members over 65,
or are transporting a pregnant person or someone using a wheelchair.
Only drivers meeting these conditions are permitted,
which means it's generally not possible for most visitors.
If you have a rental car,
you can park it at Seongsan Port and take the ferry over.
First 30 minutes free.
After that, ~$0 per 15 minutes, up to a maximum of ~$6.
Once on Udo Island,
you can rent electric cars, bicycles, and more,
making it easy to explore the vast Udo
conveniently.
The ferry ride took about 15 minutes.
Udo Island
has more sights to see than you might expect!
The island is about 3.8km long
with a perimeter of approximately 17km.
To explore
the entire island on foot,
it's advised that it takes about 3 to 4 hours
if you walk non-stop.
Therefore,
if you're a traveler with limited time,
it's more convenient to use
transportation.
You can rent electric cars, bicycles, bikes, and more.
Especially when it's hot, walking can be tough,
so it's great to explore Udo
by using a comfortable electric car.

though they do feel a little small,
there are open-top models too!

Especially if it's your first visit,
Udo Beach → Geommeolle Beach → Udobong Peak → Hagosudong Beach → Seobinbaeksa Beach → Restaurants → Cafes
Following a route like this,
choosing to visit the main attractions
is a great way to explore.
Geommeolle Beach
is impressive for the scenery created by its black sand and coastal cliffs,
and Hagosudong Beach
is famous for its relatively wide white sand beach and beautiful ocean colors.
And you can't miss Seobinbaeksa Beach!
I even saw it mentioned at the Stone Culture Park,
Seobinbaeksa Beach
is also known as Red Algae Globule Beach,
and it's made up of white granular deposits,
offering a truly unique beach landscape.
According to Jeju's official tourism information,
this white sand beach
was formed by solidified red algae,
and it's a globally
rare formation, hence it's protected.
Dolkani Beach, Hagosudong Beach
The first place we went after arriving
was to take in the views from Udo Dolkani Coast.
Unlike typical beaches
with expansive sandy shores,
this spot is impressive for its coast made of black basalt
and majestic cliffs.
When you look closely,
you can truly appreciate Jeju's unique volcanic terrain.
Especially with the vivid blue sea, dark cliffs,
and lush green vegetation all coming together,
along with a lighthouse,
it's a place on Udo
where you can encounter
a truly impressive landscape,
and it was absolutely beautiful.
Even though it was August,
the weather that day was incredibly beautiful,
with clear, emerald-colored sea
and even Seongsan Ilchulbong Peak
was perfectly visible.
It reminded me of Cape Kamui,
with its similar turquoise yet
emerald-hued ocean colors,
which was truly fascinating.
After a quick look and some photos, we headed to Hagusudong Beach.
Hagusudong Beach: Hot Showers, Parasol & Tube Rentals, Restrooms
Udo's Hagusudong Beach
is a beautiful beach located on the east side of Udo Island.
With its clear, blue waters
and soft sandy shores, it's quite impressive.
The beach stretches for about 400 meters,
and its relatively shallow waters make it perfect for families
and those traveling with children.
It's known as a great spot for kids.
Around the beach,
you'll find a wide variety of
restaurants, cafes, and other convenient facilities.
It really feels like the heart of the area,
making it a perfect place to relax during your Udo trip.
Hot showers are available for adults at ~$3,
elementary students at ~$2.
Parasol rental is ~$21,
and tube rental is ~$7
(children's size ~$3).
Udo Island isn't really a place where you should
rush around the entire island to see everything.
Instead, it's a destination where
you're better off pausing at a spot you love,
gazing at the ocean,
and relaxing at a cafe.
That kind of journey truly suits Udo best.
Checking the Weather for Udo Island, Jeju
If it's rainy
or windy,
ferries might not operate,
so it's always a good idea to check the weather beforehand.
The sun on Udo can be quite intense,
so packing a parasol is a brilliant idea to stay comfortable!

Ferries from Seongsan Port to Udo Island operate from 7:00 AM to 6:30 PM. Ferries depart every 30 minutes.
The round-trip ferry fare for adults is ~$8. When loading one passenger/large vehicle, an additional ~$20 is charged, plus a provincial park admission fee of ~$3.
