Udo Electric Car Rental 2026: Prices & License Guide
Discover why renting an electric car is the best way to explore Udo Island. Get the latest 2026 rental prices, license tips, and a scenic driving map.
If you're planning a trip to Udo Island in Jeju,
the very first thing you'll find yourself thinking about
is how you're going to get around.
Especially if you're planning a romantic getaway with your partner,
or a fun family trip with the kids,
you might be wondering whether to choose
an electric car, a scooter, or an electric bike.

Udo is a small island with an area of about 6.18 km²
and a coastline stretching around 17 km.
Since the main sights are scattered along the coastal road,
an electric car is hands down the most efficient way to get around Udo.
However, since prices and services
vary slightly from shop to shop,
it's smart to do a quick comparison before booking.
Based on my own firsthand experience,
I've put together a comparison of Udo's electric car rental shops, pricing,
and even a recommended itinerary to help you plan your perfect day!
Why Electric Cars Are the Most Popular Choice in Udo

Once you step foot on Udo,
you'll see tons of options—from electric cars and e-bikes
to scooters and tour buses.
There are so many ways to explore!
But of all the choices,
the absolute crowd favorite among travelers
is definitely the electric car.
Category | Udo Electric Car | Electric Bike |
License Required | Requires driver's license (Type 2 manual/auto or higher) | No license required |
Convenience | Very High | Moderate |
Weather Influence | Low | High |
Physical Effort | Minimal | High |
Family Trips | Recommended | Not Recommended |
Couples | Recommended | Recommended |
I've actually tried riding both
the electric bike and the electric car.
And trust me, during the hot summer months
or on windy days,
the electric car wins hands down for sheer comfort.

How Much Do Udo Electric Cars Cost?
After checking various platforms
such as Naver and MyRealTrip,
here is the typical price range for Udo electric cars.
(Shops not listed below are generally in a similar price range!)
Shop | Pass Type | Price |
Full-day Pass | ~$19 - ~$26
Morning Pass (8:00 AM - 12:30 PM) | ~$16
Full-day Pass | ~$22 | |
Full-day Pass | ~$19 |

Out of these three options,
I chose to use W Electric Car.
I was booking everything on the very day of my trip,
and W Electric Car was the only place
that still had vehicles available.
If you need to make a last-minute booking like I did,
I highly recommend W Electric Car
since you can rent one for a flat rate of ~$19 no matter when you reserve.
If you plan ahead and book early,
Coconara or Sometatneun Electric Car might be better options.
Also, if you only plan to tour the island in the morning,
the morning pass from Sometatneun Electric Car
seems to offer the absolute best value!
If you want to take your time exploring Udo,
booking through Coconara or W Electric Car...
I highly recommend booking an all-day pass.
Recommended Itinerary for a Full Loop Around Udo Island

I rented an electric buggy on Udo and spent the day exploring these spots:
Udo Garden
Udo Sand
Udo Archive
Hagosudong Beach
Udo Woo Bakery
Biyangdo Island
Geommeolle Beach
Hundertwasser Park
I managed to cover all of these in a single day.
Since there were surprisingly many attractions with admission fees and cafes offering great discounts,
I decided to use the Udo Tour Pass alongside my rental.

If you are planning to zip around in an electric car
and visit multiple sightseeing spots,
the Tour Pass is a fantastic way to save quite a bit of money.
I've put together a detailed guide on the exact places I visited
and how to make the most of the Udo Tour Pass
in my review below.

Essential Tips Before Renting an Electric Car on Udo Island

Valid Driver's License is a Must
To drive an electric buggy on Udo,
you generally need a standard driver's license (don't forget your International Driving Permit!).
Since age limits and rental policies
can vary from shop to shop,
make sure to double-check their terms before booking.
Booking Ahead for Peak Season is Essential
On weekends and during peak travel seasons,
popular vehicles sell out very quickly.
Open-top models, which are super popular with couples,
are much easier to secure if you book online in advance rather than trying your luck in person.

Your overall experience on Udo Island
can really depend on the mode of transportation you choose.
Having explored Udo in various ways—by electric car, electric bicycle, and on foot—
I can confidently say that the distances between attractions are longer than you might think.
And since you'll be dealing with the intense sun and strong winds (especially in summer),
renting an electric buggy is by far the most comfortable option.
Finding a rental shop that fits your travel style
will help you save money
and keep your trip completely stress-free.
I highly recommend checking out your options
and booking in advance to match your perfect itinerary!
