When planning a trip to Udo, most people imagine zipping around in an electric car,
exploring the scenic coastal road, and stopping at iconic spots like Seobinbaeksa Beach,
and Geommeolle Beach, don't they?
This time, I was on the hunt for a unique Udo experience
and decided to try a cave boat tour. And let me tell you, it was infinitely more exhilarating than I ever imagined!

This wasn't just any boat trip around the ocean! What truly captivated me was getting
an up-close perspective of Udo's magnificent coastal cliffs and hidden caves –
sights that are simply impossible to fully grasp from the land.
If you're an adventure-seeker, this is definitely an activity you'll want to add to your Udo travel itinerary! :)

1. Udo Must-Visit Spots & Travel Itinerary

The unforgettable experience I had was with Udo Olle Boat,
affectionately known as the 'Cat Captain Boat'!
What's Included |
Course: Haumokdong Port → Seobinbaeksa Beach → Towards Geommeolle Beach |
Duration: Approximately 30-40 minutes |
~ $22 per person |
Reservation Inquiries: 010-4132-8279 ※ Please confirm prices and operating status before your visit. |

If you arrive in Udo by ferry and step ashore at Haumokdong Port,
you'll find the entire process incredibly smooth and convenient.
I simply checked in at the cozy cafe, then made my way to the pier directly outside.

At the cafe, you can easily grab a refreshing coffee, other beverages, and even some delicious Udo peanuts to fuel your adventure!
And if you have a friend who might not be able to join in on the thrilling activity,
this cafe is the perfect spot for them to relax and wait in comfort.

What truly made this course special for me was the incredible opportunity to witness
three of Udo's Eight Scenic Views –
Juganmyeongwol, Huhaeseokbyeok, and Dongangyeonggul –
all from the stunning perspective of the ocean!

Juganmyeongwol is a magical spot where sunlight streams into the cave and reflects
off the ceiling, creating an illusion of a glowing moon. Sadly, the waves were too high on my visit,
preventing us from venturing inside ㅠㅠ
Huhaeseokbyeok is a colossal coastal cliff dominating the landscape near Geommeolle Beach.
As we approached, the intricate, layered textures
of the cliff face were absolutely mesmerizing.

Dongangyeonggul is a fascinating sea cave,
affectionately nicknamed the 'Whale's Nostril Cave'.
Being on the boat allowed us to venture deep into the crevices between the cliffs,
making this one of the most vividly unforgettable scenes
I experienced in Udo.
2. Udo Olle Boat (feat. Cat Captain)

The Udo cave boat I embarked on was skillfully navigated by none other than the 'Cat Captain,'
a master with over 20 years of experience at the helm!
Isn't that a charming name? Haha!

Actually, on the way from the cafe to the pier,
there was even a cat mural, which was perfect
for snapping some quick photos before we set off!

Wearing a life vest before hopping on the boat is an absolute must!
They had all sizes available,
so everyone from little adventurers
to grown men could find a perfect fit.

What I loved most about the Udo Olle Boat was that
it wasn't just a quick speed ride that ends in a flash.
Instead, it's a fantastic course that cruises for about 30-40 minutes,
taking you around all the beautiful nooks and crannies of Udo's coastline.
It really felt like getting the best of both worlds – sightseeing and an exciting activity, all in one go!

They even slowed down occasionally,
giving us plenty of time to soak in the incredible scenery.
Plus, with explanations at each point,
we got to discover sides of Udo we would have completely missed
if we'd just zoomed past! :)

And if you're really lucky, you might even spot dolphins
making an appearance!!!
Of course, these are wild dolphins,
so you can't guarantee a sighting every time –
it's truly up to fate, haha.
I was a bit bummed I didn't get to see them myself, but the captain
kindly sent me a video! Hehe.

Just a heads-up: the course might change depending on the day's operating conditions,
like the weather and waves. But here's an exciting tip – if the weather is really good,
you might even get a longer tour of Udo's stunning landscapes!
So, it's always a good idea to check before you board. :)

What truly left a lasting impression on me were the majestic cliffs
unfolding right before my eyes.
It's completely different from seeing them in photos –
when you look up at them from the sea,
their sheer scale is absolutely incredible..!
3. Insider Tips for Your Boat Tour, Straight from My Experience!

First things first: be super careful with your hat!
Once the boat gets going,
the wind whips up incredibly strong,
and if your hat isn't secured properly, it's definitely going for a swim!
During the day, the sunlight reflecting off the ocean
can be quite dazzling.
Sunglasses make it much more comfortable,
but remember to keep a tight grip on them too, so they don't go flying!

If you're planning on capturing lots of photos and videos,
I highly recommend a phone strap or a necklace-style case!
The scenery was so stunning that I found myself constantly pulling out my phone
to snap pictures, haha.

Choosing your seat is also key!
They say the very front offers the most exhilarating experience,
while the further back you go,
the more stable it tends to be.

But guess what? I was actually in the very back seat!
And even then, it was thrilling enough, believe me!
My body bounced around every time we hit a wave –
it felt almost like being on an amusement park ride out on the open sea,
and it was way more fun than I ever imagined.

If you're thinking that just cruising along Udo's coastal road
in an electric car might feel a little bit lacking...
Consider adding a boat tour to your itinerary!
It's thrilling, but most of all,
it offers a view you can't get from land,
allowing you to see Udo's caves and coastal cliffs
directly from the sea,
making it a truly unique and memorable experience.

However, as this experience is affected by waves and wind,
if you get seasick easily or are sensitive to motion,
we recommend checking the sea conditions on the day of your visit
before deciding to go :)
