Before a recent lecture in Hongdae, I was on the hunt for a great sandwich spot for lunch. Luckily, I heard about a popular cafe near Hongik University Station known for its amazing sandwiches, so I decided to check it out. The cafe is called TYTD.

TYTD Location and Parking

TYTD Hongdae is super easy to find, located just a 5-minute walk from Exit 2 of Hongik University Station. It's right on the way to Yeonnam-dong, making it incredibly accessible for anyone exploring the area.

If you're driving, there are four parking spaces directly in front of the cafe. However, parking isn't available on weekdays. On weekends, if you need to park, it's best to call ahead to confirm availability.
Inside TYTD

The moment I stepped inside, I was captivated by the sight of all the different sandwich varieties beautifully displayed. The bread alone looked distinctly superior to typical fast-food sandwiches (and yes, the quality comes with a slightly different price point!).

The seating arrangements are perfect for solo diners or small groups, with a mix of two-person tables, a larger communal table, and counter seating.
The Menu

For coffee, an Americano is ~$3 and a Cafe Latte is ~$4, which are very reasonable prices for the quality. I later noticed they also offer specialty coffee and a 'coffee of the day,' which suggests it's a great spot for serious coffee aficionados too.

You can even sample the aroma of their coffee beans! While I'm still a latte person myself, it's a nice touch for those who appreciate a good brew.

When I placed my order, the barista seemed a bit flustered. I joked that it must have been my intimidating presence, but in reality, they were just incredibly busy! I ended up buying six sandwiches – two of each kind – and told them to take their time preparing them.

Pro tip: Ask for your sandwiches to be cut in half. It makes them much easier to enjoy on the go!

TYTD is truly a fantastic sandwich spot near Hongik University Station. Although I couldn't try one myself that day (I had already eaten!), the quiet enjoyment of everyone at my lecture spoke volumes. When people are that focused on their food, you know it's good – especially when the quality justifies a price point of around ~$7 per sandwich!
Whether you're looking for a satisfying meal, a delightful dessert, or just a great cup of coffee, make sure to stop by TYTD!
