As someone traveling from outside Seoul, finding the perfect place to stay
can be a struggle. After deliberating for ages, I finally booked a room just one day before my trip!
Since most of my plans were in Gangnam,
I was mainly looking for budget-friendly hotels in the area.
Since I planned on walking everywhere, location was my absolute top priority,
and since I was traveling solo, I wanted a budget-friendly spot under ~$64
with clean, comfortable rooms.
Up until the very last minute, I was torn between this and Shilla Stay Yeoksam,
but since I really just needed a place to sleep, I realized I could save about ~$32
by choosing Toyoko Inn Seoul Gangnam instead. So, Toyoko Inn it was!
From the Express Bus Terminal, I took a direct bus without any transfers
and dropped right off in front of the Toyoko Inn Gangnam hotel.
Honestly, you can't beat this location!
Buses 643 and 452 bring you straight here in one go.
Since it's a famous Japanese chain hotel,
there were quite a few Japanese travelers staying here.
They tended to be very quiet and respectful,
which made the entire atmosphere incredibly peaceful and relaxing—a huge plus!
Before booking, I noticed so many reviews praising how clean
and budget-friendly it is, giving it high ratings across the board.
Having stayed here myself, I can confirm the staff are super friendly,
and getting a clean hotel room in the heart of Gangnam, Seoul, for around ~$64 a night

1. Perfect Location: Only a 6-Minute Walk to Gangnam Station
It's just a 6-minute walk from Gangnam Station, and there's a bus stop literally 30 seconds from the entrance.
You can get here directly from the Express Bus Terminal in about 20 minutes.
Since I had plans right around Gangnam Station,
having a cozy spot within easy walking distance
was exactly why this budget-friendly hotel
became my number one choice.
Plus, trendy hotspots like the Chagee Gangnam Flagship Store
and the Cass World Cup Pop-up Store are just a 5 to 10-minute stroll away.
Everything is right at your doorstep!
An Ideal Gangnam Hotel for Traveling to and from Incheon Airport
From Incheon International Airport, you can catch Airport Bus 6009 or 6020
and ride directly for about 1 hour and 20 minutes
straight to the front of Toyoko Inn Seoul Gangnam. Talk about convenience!
The accessibility is absolutely stellar.
Not having to worry about transfers saves so much energy,
so you really get the best of both worlds: location and value!

As a solo traveler,
budget was one of my top considerations.

3. Toyoko Inn Gangnam Facilities & Amenities
Check-in starts from 3:00 PM
Check-out is at 10:00 AM, which is about an hour earlier than most hotels
But with a 24-hour front desk,
you don't have to worry about checking in late!
You can also store your luggage in the lobby
before check-in and after check-out,
And with water purifiers, ice machines, and microwaves available,
staying hydrated was never an issue.
Though not huge, there's a cozy seating area in the lobby—
I saw quite a few travelers organizing their bags
before heading off to the airport.

To help you pack light, the hotel provides free
disposable cleansing foam, cleansing oil, toner, and lotion
that you can grab whenever you need.
Just remember to bring your own toothbrush and toothpaste!

4. Single/Double Room Review
The room I stayed in
was a Double Room, which is perfectly spacious enough for two.

With three elevators running, I never had to wait long.
I heard that joining the Toyoko Inn Membership
costs around 1,500 JPY (about $10) per person,
You get 1 free night for every 10 nights, which sounded pretty tempting!
If you travel to Japan often,
it definitely seems worth signing up for.
Even though the hotel seemed quite busy,
it was so quiet I wondered if there was anyone else on my floor.
Since I booked as a solo traveler, everything
was perfectly set up for one.
From the pillow and water to even the rinse cup!
The room is on the smaller side, but since I was alone,
it wasn't an issue at all.
It felt like it had exactly what I needed, right where I needed it.
Would it be too cramped for two people?
Honestly, if you're looking for great value, it's absolutely doable.
The double room comes equipped with an electric kettle, cups,
an attached hairdryer, a fridge, and even a safe.
All the essentials are ready for you,
and what I especially loved was having a small vanity mirror!
It made doing my makeup so much easier.
If I had to nitpick one tiny thing,
it would be the lack of a full-length mirror.
But hey, if you really want to check your full outfit, you can always stand on a chair!
Gotta make do with what you've got.
They provide one complimentary bottle of water in the fridge,
and the fridge works so well that the water was actually slightly frozen!
As expected from South Korea, the land of ice-cold drinks! 🧊
When I was searching through all the budget-friendly accommodations around Gangnam,
the biggest worry was always cleanliness.
But at Toyoko Inn Seoul Gangnam,
you absolutely do not have to worry about cleanliness at all.
That's exactly why I chose this place!
The bathroom is designed in the classic Japanese style,
featuring that familiar, compact modular setup.
The bathtub is surprisingly spacious,
and it's stocked with refillable shampoo, conditioner, and body wash,
so you don't need to pack your own!
There wasn't any unpleasant drain smell, and everything was so sparkling clean,
I completely understand why Toyoko Inn Gangnam has such a high repeat guest rate.
I can totally see why people keep coming back!
5. Surprisingly Good Quality Free Breakfast

Since it's free, I honestly didn't expect much,
but honestly, once you see Bulgogi on the menu, they've won!
With salads, bread, fruits, and hot meals, it had everything.
I went down around 9:00 AM, and it was so packed
with so many guests enjoying their breakfast!
I just grabbed some bread and coffee
to enjoy a quiet bite back in my room.
As a trusted chain hotel among budget-friendly Gangnam accommodations,
it offers incredible access to shopping, restaurants, pop-ups, and transportation,
making for a super comfortable stay.

You can take the airport bus No. 6009 or 6020 from Incheon Airport, which will take you directly to the front of the hotel in 1 hour and 20 minutes without any transfers. The hotel is also conveniently located just a 6-minute walk from Gangnam Station.
