MyCUBE Tokyo Capsule Hotel Review: Premium Solo Stay in Asakusa
Thinking of trying a Tokyo capsule hotel? Skip the cramped bunks! MyCUBE by MYSTAYS offers premium bottom-tier beds and massive luggage storage for solo travelers.

This isn't your average Tokyo capsule hotel.
Welcome to my review of a premium, elevated solo stay.
Every single bed here is a bottom-tier unit,
completely eliminating the hassle of climbing a ladder.
Plus, you can keep your suitcase fully open
and securely locked right underneath you.
These two massive perks alone
made this stay infinitely better than any other capsule hotel I've visited.

My Tokyo Capsule Hotel Review
The place I booked is called
MyCUBE by MYSTAYS Asakusa Kuramae.
Since that's quite a mouthful,
I'll just refer to it as the MyCUBE Capsule Hotel.

Check-in: From 4:00 PM / Check-out: By 10:00 AM
Luggage storage is available before check-in and after check-out.
Location Summary:
Kuramae neighborhood, close to Asakusa and Akihabara.
Price Summary:
Weekdays from ~$31 / Weekends from ~$69

Here are the top 5 reasons
why I absolutely loved this accommodation.
1. Every Room is a Bottom Bunk
All capsule beds are on the ground level.
This means the ceilings are much higher than standard capsules,
and you get a very clear sense of personal space.
Because there's no top bunk,
you don't have to deal with the squeaking or thumping sounds
of someone climbing up or tossing and turning above you.
Best of all, from the bed to the storage to the ceiling,
the entire vertical space is yours alone!

2. Massive Under-Bed Storage
Right underneath the bed is a spacious compartment
where you can store your suitcase fully opened.
This was a game-changer.
I didn't have to constantly zip and unzip my bag
every time I needed something.
Plus, this storage space
can be securely locked with a physical key.

3. Premium Capsule Amenities
The basic facilities are incredibly high-quality.
Each bed comes equipped with a TV, mirror, indoor slippers,
a shelf, headphones, a safety deposit box, an alarm system,
hangers, a 110V outlet, USB ports,
and a dedicated amenity bag.
Inside the amenity bag, I found 3 types of towels, pajamas,
and a disposable toothbrush and toothpaste kit.

Shampoo, conditioner, body wash,
hairdryers, extra toothbrushes, and cotton swabs
were all fully stocked in the shower area.
The shower rooms are private, single-occupancy stalls (3 total).
Inside each stall, there's a shelf, hangers, a trash can,
and a basket, giving you plenty of space
to get ready comfortably.

The restrooms were also
located right inside the guest floor.
They were exceptionally clean and spacious,
and I never felt like it was crowded during my stay.
There's also a separate laundry room with coin-operated machines,
which is perfect for long-term travelers!

4. Gender-Separated Floors
There are no mixed-gender dorms here.
To press your floor button in the elevator,
you have to tap your keycard.
This keeps you completely separated not just from outsiders,
but also from guests on other floors, making it feel incredibly safe.
(No worries about lost luggage or trespassers!)

5. The Location
Because I usually stay around Shinjuku
whenever I travel to Tokyo,
I initially thought this location might be a bit awkward.
But I couldn't have been more wrong.
It was actually super convenient for getting around the city.

Up on the reception floor of the MyCUBE capsule hotel,
there is a fantastic communal lounge.
It's outfitted with plenty of outlets,
so you'll see people working on their laptops,
while others just kick back and relax on the comfy sofas.
This is also the designated spot for eating any food you bring in!

That wraps up my review of the capsule hotel
I stayed at during my recent trip to Tokyo.
Out of all the solo accommodations I've tried,
the room quality here is top-tier,
and I was endlessly satisfied with the experience.
