Hotel Forza Hakata Station
A Hidden Gem for Spacious, Budget-Friendly Stays
Words & Photos by Bbangeuni
When planning a trip to Fukuoka,
travelers often choose between Hakata Station and Tenjin Station areas.
While Hakata Station is closer to the airport and generally more convenient,
I used to think it was only home to expensive hotels. However, I discovered some fantastic budget-friendly options!
Today, I'm excited to share my detailed review of a great value hotel near Hakata Station where I stayed.
For a Japanese hotel, it was surprisingly spacious, and I thoroughly enjoyed my 3-day, 2-night stay!

1. Hotel Forza Chikushiguchi 2

The Fukuoka hotel I stayed at was
<Hotel Forza>.
It's a chain, and there are actually three locations around Hakata Station, but
I opted for "Hotel Forza Chikushiguchi 2."
As the newest of the three, the rooms felt fresh, clean, and noticeably more spacious than other Forza branches.

But the absolute best part? The location was incredible!
It's an easy 2-minute walk from Hakata Station, and the Fukuoka Airport bus stop is practically right next door.

I also had bus tours planned for Yufuin and Beppu. All the tour meeting points were at the Lawson convenience store near the Chikushiguchi exit of Hakata Station.
If I had stayed in the Tenjin area, I would have needed to wake up at least 30 minutes earlier.
Staying at Hotel Forza allowed me to get ready at a relaxed pace each morning, which was a huge plus!

Oh, and for a treat, the super popular sandwich spot "Shinsen Sando" requires an "open run" (getting there right at opening).
Since our hotel was right across the street, I could quickly get ready and successfully beat the crowds! Score!

2. Lobby Amenities

✅ Check-in: 2:00 PM, Check-out: 11:00 AM
You can check in starting at 2:00 PM, and the hotel offers luggage storage before check-in and after check-out, which is incredibly convenient.

Check-in is a breeze with self-service machines, but staff are always on hand if you need assistance.
I even encountered a staff member who spoke English, which was helpful!
Keep in mind that hotels in Fukuoka collect a local accommodation tax upon arrival.
It's about ~$1 per person, per night; they accept both card and cash.

The lobby floor features a breakfast restaurant, laundry facilities, and an ice machine.
There's also a complimentary coffee machine – I grabbed an Americano with my Shinsen Sando, and it was surprisingly good! I made sure to enjoy a cup every day.
They even have a luggage scale, so you can check your bag's weight before heading to the airport.
3. Our Double Room

Most Japanese business hotels are notoriously compact,
often making it a challenge to even open a suitcase.
Having traveled to Japan over 20 times and stayed in countless hotels,
I can confidently say that Hotel Forza's room condition was exceptionally good.

I stayed in a standard double room, which was about 194 square feet.
There was enough space to comfortably open two 25-inch suitcases with room to spare – it felt incredibly airy and comfortable!

By the window, there was a cozy sofa.
Inside the room, you'll find all the essentials: a mini-fridge, coffee maker, hairdryer, TV, air purifier, and a full-length mirror.

The bathroom was spotless and perfectly sized.
Towels, pajamas (robes), shampoo, conditioner, and body wash were all provided.
For other disposable amenities, you can pick up what you need from the lobby on the first floor.

A unique feature that sets Hakata Forza Hotel apart is the in-room massage device.
I tried it out, and it was surprisingly effective at relieving fatigue – a nice bonus after a day of exploring!
Some rooms even come with a full massage chair, so keep that in mind when booking.
4. Price Comparison

I've compiled a price comparison for a standard double room at Hotel Forza Hakata Chikushiguchi 2
(based on rates for September 1, 2026).
Agoda | Klook | Booking.com | Trip.com |
~$71 | ~$83 | ~$93 | ~$80 |
Overall, the prices were quite similar,
but Agoda offered the best deal!
I booked through Agoda myself, and the total cost for two people for two nights was about ~$142.
Agoda Official Site | Free Cancellation & Booking Deals | Over 2 Million Hotels
Being able to book a night for around ~$64 truly felt like incredible value, especially with such a prime location!
I was extremely satisfied and would absolutely choose to stay here again on my next trip to Fukuoka.

The standard double room is 18m². It is spacious enough to leave room even with two medium-sized 25-inch suitcases opened.
Yes, it is very convenient. It is located just a 2-minute walk from the Lawson convenience store near the Hakata Station Chikushiguchi entrance, which is the bus tour meeting point, allowing you to prepare at a leisurely pace in the morning.
A notable feature is the massage machine provided in the room to help relieve fatigue. Disposable amenities are not stocked in the rooms; instead, you can take what you need from the 1st-floor lobby.
