Looking for a clean, budget-friendly hotel in Tsushima? Read our review of Hotel Daemado Hitakatsu, located just a 3-minute walk from Hitakatsu Port.

For my recent getaway to Tsushima Island, my main goal was to find a budget-friendly place to stay.
Hitakatsu generally has higher hotel rates than Izuhara, with most decent options starting over ~$64 per night.
Since I was aiming for something under ~$64, the search was on.
While the popular Toyoko Inn is a solid choice, it is located quite far from the central port area. Plus, since my boyfriend struggles with bad allergies, cleanliness was our top priority. After spending nearly two hours deep-diving into local reviews, I decided to book Hotel Daemado Hitakatsu.

Check-in, Check-out, and Parking Details

Being just a 3-minute walk (about 0.1 miles) from Hitakatsu Port made our itinerary so much easier. If you are renting a car, they offer free parking on-site, but make sure to register your license plate at the front desk when checking in!

There are two main entrances to the hotel. If you are hauling heavy luggage, the back entrance is much more accessible with fewer obstacles.
If you are traveling light, you can easily walk straight in through the front entrance directly across from the Hitakatsu Terminal.
The Front Desk Experience

The front desk staff were incredibly welcoming and spoke excellent English and Korean, making our check-in process take less than a minute.
Basic amenities like combs, toothbrushes, and razors are available at the front counter for you to grab as needed. You can also sign up for breakfast by 6:00 PM the night before, though we decided to skip it to explore local cafes instead.
Inside the Guest Room

We originally booked a traditional Japanese-style room, but the staff kindly upgraded us to a western-style room since they had availability.

Our upgraded space was Room 305, a Standard Triple Room! It is a strictly non-smoking hotel, so there was absolutely no cigarette smell, and everything felt incredibly fresh.

Even though the room comes with three beds, they perfectly prepared bedding for just the two of us.
As someone who is highly sensitive to musty smells, the first things I checked were the AC unit and the sheets. Both were spotless and smelled completely clean! 😄

While there is no separate vanity, there is a long desk next to the bed. We used it for late-night convenience store snacks and for getting ready in the morning.
While it is not a luxury resort, it is clean, comfortable, and highly affordable—exactly what we needed.

The bathroom was spotless with no water stains, the towels smelled fresh, and the water pressure was fantastic. Honestly, if a bathroom checks those three boxes, it is a win in my book.

Note that they do not provide complimentary bottled water in the mini-fridge. You will want to grab some from the Value Mart, which is just a 5-minute walk (around 0.2 miles) away!
The provided hairdryer was decent, but if you have thick hair or are traveling with friends, I highly recommend packing your own dual-voltage travel dryer.

There is a handy clothing rack right next to the full-length mirror. The mirror also doubled as a great spot for taking quick outfit photos before heading out! 😄

From our window, we could see the international ferry terminal. It was a bit overcast during our stay, but on a clear day, the harbor view would be lovely.
Hotel Amenities & Facilities

There are two shared microwaves on the first floor, complete with complimentary wooden chopsticks. It is incredibly convenient if you want to heat up late-night snacks from the local market!

There is a vending machine in the lobby, but the prices are a bit steep. I highly recommend stocking up on drinks at the nearby Value Mart beforehand. Also, keep in mind that the hotel doors lock late at night, so do not forget to bring your key card when going out!

After checking out, you can store your luggage in the self-serve storage area. They also offer bicycle rentals directly at the hotel for 3,000 JPY (approx. $19) per day.
Hotel Daemado Hitakatsu is an exceptional value option in the ~$51 range, offering an unbeatable location near the port, free parking, and comfortable logistics.
While the facilities are simple, the rooms are clean, smoke-free, and well-maintained. I was thoroughly satisfied with my stay.
As one of the best-located budget hotels in Hitakatsu, rooms tend to book up quickly. If your travel dates are set, make sure to secure your room early!

Yes, guests can use the parking lot for free. However, you must provide your vehicle number at the front desk upon check-in.
Free bottled water is not provided in the room's refrigerator. It is recommended to purchase water or beverages in advance at Value Mart, which is a 5-minute walk away.
Self-service luggage storage is available inside the hotel after check-out. A bicycle rental service is also available, and the rental fee is 3,000 yen per bicycle.
Breakfast must be ordered at the front desk by 18:00 the day before your stay. Amenities such as combs, toothbrushes, and razors are self-service and can be picked up at the front desk.
