This time, I took a trip to the Aewol area of Jeju!
As I've always stuck to exploring only the Seogwipo side,
I was curious about what amazing spots Jeju Aewol had to offer,
so I really dug deep to find the best places before my trip.

As I looked for Jeju Aewol restaurants worth recommending,
I found this place that's not only incredibly popular with the locals,
but also a beloved spot that tourists rave about through word-of-mouth.
That's how I discovered The Aewol Main Branch, a black pork duroochigi restaurant,
that’s a true favorite among popular celebrities like Tak Jae-hoon!

Even though I'm usually one to skip breakfast,
I made sure to schedule a visit in the morning,
and it was so incredibly delicious and easy to eat,
I felt completely energized for the day.

4. Review

As soon as we placed our order,
the staff efficiently and neatly brought out all the delicious side dishes.
The side dishes alone were so incredibly delicious,
they instantly built up my anticipation for the main course!

Pork Duruchigi (Spicy Gochujang Sauce)
I noticed countless reviews raving that, unlike many other places,
The Aewol Main Branch is a dedicated specialty restaurant, proudly using
100% Black Pork
for its Duruchigi and Kimchi Jjigae!
And guess what? It was absolutely true!
When I finally tasted it, the meat was incredibly tender and chewy, with not even a hint of gamey flavor –
simply perfect for a satisfying meal.
It wasn't just the Duruchigi itself;
the delightful additions of tteok (rice cakes), onions, bean sprouts, kimchi, etc.
scattered throughout truly enhanced the texture and flavor.
And let me tell you, it was an absolutely perfect, harmonious match
with the sticky pot rice we ordered!

Black Pork Kimchi Jjigae
While it wasn't a watery, soupy kimchi jjigae,
the flavors were incredibly rich and deeply infused into the tofu, pork, etc.,
creating a truly profound taste.
The sticky pot rice comes served with the Kimchi Jjigae,
and for just an extra ~$1, it's an absolute must-try combination!
I had the sticky pot rice, Duruchigi
and Kimchi Jjigae all together for breakfast,
and honestly, it was an absolutely delightful and incredibly delicious experience.
With minimal artificial seasonings,
the authentic taste of kimchi and a special sauce shone through,
creating a refreshing and spicy flavor that
finished with a delightful sweetness from the onions.

Padon Duruchigi (Scallion Black Pork Stir-fry)
This black pork duruchigi, with its savory soy sauce base,
and eaten with thinly sliced green onions,
was incredibly fragrant, perfectly non-greasy, and super clean-tasting.
The seasoning was so fantastic, it was almost like eating delicious fried chicken!
And of course, it had rice cakes (tteok) in it too!
It had a little bit of that tteokbokki vibe,
but it was definitely a proper, hearty meal,
making me realize I made an excellent choice for breakfast.
I used to wonder why so many celebrities flocked here,
but after just one bite, I completely understood!
The Aewol Main Branch of The Aewol only uses 100% Jeju black pork.
If you're on the hunt for an amazing restaurant in Aewol, Jeju,
you absolutely have to pay them a visit! =)
