I recently visited the area near Seongsimdang's Main Branch,

and with Seollal (Korean New Year) approaching,

I stopped by Seongsimdang Yetmatssomssi

to buy some yakgwa and hangwa.

Every holiday season, I make sure to get my yakgwa and hangwa

from Seongsimdang Yetmatssomssi, no exceptions!

Once you try them here, you won't want them from anywhere else~

Not only are they incredibly delicious,

but they're also trustworthy traditional snacks

that I highly recommend to anyone with a taste for traditional flavors.

Seongsimdang Yetmatssomssi is located directly across from the Seongsimdang Main Branch.

Since it's situated in Daejeon's old city center, it can get quite busy and crowded.

However, its location in the old city center means it's easily accessible,

so many people can visit without much difficulty.

When visiting Seongsimdang, if you input 'Seongsimdang' into your navigation system, you should absolutely NOT do that!

The area where Seongsimdang is located is a narrow alley,

and while vehicle access is technically possible.

it's practically impassable for cars.

You should really think of it as a pedestrian-only zone.

I've often seen people who don't know this navigate directly to Seongsimdang and then end up right in front of it,

only to have a really difficult time.

When you visit Seongsimdang, I recommend navigating to one of the three parking lots listed below

and then walking over after you've parked.

✔The parking lot is spacious, but due to hospital visitors, parking spots are often scarce.

All parking lots are paid, operating on a fee basis,

and if you purchase Seongsimdang products worth ~$7 or more, you'll receive a 1-hour parking voucher.

Seongsimdang has three branches clustered together: the Main Branch, Cake Boutique, and Yetmatssomssi,

and each store provides a parking voucher valid for up to 2 hours.

For Urideul Park, you'll be given a parking ticket,

while for the Hyeondae Parking Lot, you settle the parking fee by scanning the barcode on the bottom of your receipt, and your parking fee will be settled.

Personally, I recommend the Hyeondae Parking Lot.

If you use it as a paid lot,

Urideul Park is cheaper,

and Hyeondae Parking Lot is more expensive,

but if you're visiting Seongsimdang, you can use it for free,

and it generally has more available parking spaces.

Seongsimdang is widely known as Daejeon's most famous bakery, right?

Among its branches, Seongsimdang Yetmatssomssi is a special place where you can savor traditional snacks and breads.

Even though it was a weekday,

the line in front of Seongsimdang was absolutely massive.

I'm personally not a big fan of waiting in lines,

so I gave up on getting bread and just stopped by Yetmatssomssi. Haha!

For those who are sometimes worried about parking!

Don't go to Seongsimdang main branch,

visit Yetmatssomssi instead to make your purchase,

and then settle your parking.

It's much~~ less crowded than the bustling Seongsimdang Main Branch and Cake Boutique.

Seongsimdang Yetmatssomssi isn't large in scale,

but it felt like a space where only the essential products were perfectly gathered!

The traditional mother-of-pearl cabinets and decorative items beautifully preserved a sense of antiquity,

creating a modest yet traditional ambiance.

What's more, traditional music was playing during my visit, which complemented the atmosphere perfectly. Ha!

Yetmatssomssi offers a wide variety of gift sets.

They're both delicious and elegantly packaged, making them perfect for gifting.

It makes a wonderful gift for your parents or respected seniors.

Stepping inside, you'll find the display cases filled with

the signature Daejeon Blues Manju from Sungsimdang's Old-Fashioned Delicacies,

as well as a vibrant array of traditional Korean snacks like yakgwa, hangwa, and yanggaeng.

As for Sungsimdang's Daejeon Blues Manju,

the outer pastry shell is incredibly thin,

while the inside is bursting with sweet filling.

One bite, and you'll be giving it a resounding thumbs up!

You'll also find three vibrant types of yugwa!

I make sure to buy Sungsimdang's yugwa every single year!

It has no stale oil smell,

and when you take a bite,

it doesn't stick to your teeth.

The perfect crispness and nutty flavor

are simply incomparable to any other.

My parents adore this yugwa too,

so we always stick to the yugwa from Sungsimdang's Old-Fashioned Delicacies.

This year, they've prepared two distinct types of yakgwa: the Traditional (Somssi) Yakgwa and the exquisite Royal Court Yakgwa.

Sungsimdang's yakgwa is renowned for its incredibly soft texture and flavor.

Its moderate, subtle sweetness combined with a delightful chewy texture is truly captivating.

While Jang-in Yakgwa is popular, Sungsimdang's yakgwa is just as equally enchanting!

I truly want to spread the word far and wide to anyone who hasn't experienced the taste of Sungsimdang's yakgwa yet~~
