1. Location
📍 Seongsimdang Main Branch
15 Daejong-ro 480beon-gil, Jung-gu, Daejeon
The Seongsimdang Main Branch
is located in Eunhaeng-dong, Jung-gu, Daejeon.
It's situated right in the heart of what's known as
Daejeon's Old City Center, the original downtown area.
It's also easily accessible by public transport,
so it's not difficult to visit by bus or subway
from Daejeon Station.
It's perfect to combine with a visit to Eunhaeng-dong and Euneungjeongi Street.
2. Parking

✅ 4 Seongsimdang Exclusive Parking Lots
📍 Seongsimdang Exclusive Parking Lot (Seongsimdang Culture Center) - 10 AM to 9 PM
📍 Urreungjeongi Park Parking Lot – 24 Hours
📍 Hyeondae Parking Lot – 24 Hours
📍 Jeongoh Parking Lot – 24 Hours
✔ Get 1 hour of free parking with purchases over ~$7
✔ If you visit two Seongsimdang locations:
You can exchange two 1-hour parking tickets for one 2-hour ticket.
(※ Two 1-hour tickets cannot be used for exit payment individually.)
✔ When paying, be sure to mention the name of the parking lot you used.
✔ Parking ticket types vary by parking lot.
✔ For Hyeondae Parking Lot, your payment receipt acts as your parking ticket.
🚫 Important Reminders:
❌ Do NOT navigate directly to 'Seongsimdang'.
It's located on a narrow street in the commercial center,
where vehicle traffic is extremely congested.
When visiting, always set your navigation to one of the 'parking lots'!
3. Exterior & Interior
For the year-end season,
the atmosphere has completely transformed with Christmas decorations.

The exterior is filled with Christmas decorations,
immediately making you feel the holiday spirit.

The Twigim Soboro statue wearing a red scarf
adds a charming touch to the festive year-end atmosphere! 😊

Inside, as always,
it's bustling with people,
but the flow of traffic is well-managed, so it's not overly inconvenient.
Staff members are continuously tidying up the bread displays
at each counter.

Upon entering,
👉 you'll find the popular Matcha Soboro and Matcha Croissant,
along with other staple breads, on the display shelf to the right of the entrance.
This area is also where most people tend to gather.

📌 Purchasing Method
It's not a linear queue-based purchasing system where you follow the person in front of you,
but a free-flow shopping experience~

Fundamentally, the biggest reason I recommend Seongsimdang
is its incredible quality for the price.
These days, almost every region has at least one great bakery, right?
Rather than saying the taste is overwhelmingly superior,
it's more accurate to describe it as a reliably delicious taste at an affordable price.

You can choose without any pressure,
and no matter what you pick up, you're unlikely to be disappointed.
I think this might be its biggest advantage.

And here's a bonus:
even if you load up your basket with a ton of treats, the cost will be around half of what you'd pay at other bakeries!

Head to the very back, and you'll find the iconic
signature Twigim Soboro (fried soboro bread)
displayed in all its variations!

You can buy them individually
or opt for a gift set, perfect for sharing a taste of Seongsimdang with friends and family!

Further inside, I saw the team diligently frying croquettes
right there on the spot – talk about fresh!
It had been a while since I'd tried their Chapssal Jumeokbap (glutinous rice balls),
and they used to be triangular, but now they're square,
and the taste has changed too;
It's no longer the Kimchi Chapssal Jumeokbap I remembered,
just the regular version now.

If you head left from the entrance,
you'll discover a dedicated corner showcasing breads with a firmer texture –
think artisanal delights like Campagne, Ciabatta, whole wheat bread, and baguettes.

With multiple cashiers available,
you can simply head to the next open one to pay.
Don't forget to ask for your parking ticket after payment!

Here's a quick look at the interior layout to help you navigate:
From the main entrance:
Left: Artisan Bread Section (hard-crusted breads like Campagne and Ciabatta)
Right: General Breads, Twigim Soboro, Gift Sets, Croquette Corner
If it's your first time here,
👉 follow this route for the smoothest experience:
👉 Entrance → Right (Matcha & General Breads) → Explore Both Corners → Cashier
Craving a sandwich? Head down to the main branch's
B1 floor, where you'll find a separate 'Sandwich Stop' store.
They whip up affordable,
freshly made sandwiches right before your eyes, and I highly recommend checking them out!
4. Must-Try Treats from Seongsimdang!
When you think of Seongsimdang, a long list of iconic treats probably comes to mind, doesn't it?
From classics like Twigim Soboro and Panta-long Buchu-ppang to seasonal delights,
everything here quickly becomes a word-of-mouth sensation!

1️⃣Twigim Soboro (Fried Soboro Bread)
This is the ultimate signature item,
and without a doubt, the number one bread that comes to mind
when anyone mentions Seongsimdang!
It boasts a crispy fried exterior,
encasing a delightful blend of sweet red bean paste and savory bread inside.
The first bite is always a pleasant surprise –
this unique combination works incredibly well!
While it's fried, it's far from greasy!
Instead, the delightful contrast between the crunchy exterior and the soft, fluffy interior
makes this a bread you absolutely HAVE to try at least once.
👉 Why is it a must-buy?
It's the ultimate 'I was here!' proof for first-time visitors to Seongsimdang.
It tastes amazing even when cool, making it perfect for takeaways and souvenirs.

2️⃣ Pantalong Chive Bread
A surprisingly charming menu item that's consistently loved
is none other than Pantalong Chive Bread.
The unique aroma of chives isn't overwhelming,
and its savory yet mild flavor
makes it perfect for enjoying between sweeter pastries.
It's not greasy and is easy on the stomach,
which is why many choose it as a gift for adults, especially parents.
👉 Why should you try it?
A great choice when sweet pastries feel a bit much
The chive aroma isn't too strong, making it widely appealing
A unique menu item that will make you think, "Wow, bread like this exists?!"
3️⃣ Myeongran Baguette
For those who adore bread,
the Myeongran Baguette is a treat that's hard to pass up.
The exterior boasts the characteristic crispness of a baguette,
while the inside is infused with the savory flavor of myeongran (pollack roe),
creating a taste that would even pair wonderfully with beer.
The unique saltiness of the myeongran isn't overpowering,
making its combination with bread perfectly balanced and delightful,
and it's also great for cutting into individual pieces and enjoying.
👉 Why should you try it?
Recommended for those who want a savory twist on a plain baguette
A menu item that balances out a selection of predominantly sweet breads
A highly satisfying choice for mature palates and bread lovers alike
5. Matcha Soboro and Matcha Croissant: An Honest Review
On this visit,
✔ Matcha Fried Soboro (Matcha Twiso)
✔ Matcha Croissant
I decided to focus on these two.
As expected from matcha items, their vibrant color immediately catches the eye,
and their visual appeal makes you pause at the display case.

Matcha Fried Soboro (Matcha Twiso): An Honest Review
The moment you pick it up, you'll notice
its substantial weight – it's truly different.

The amount of cream
is truly astounding.

The matcha flavor isn't particularly strong.
Rather than a bitter matcha,
it has a gentle and mild matcha profile,
making it enjoyable even for those who don't usually gravitate towards matcha.
It's a flavor that's easy to enjoy without any hesitation.

However,
if you're a matcha lover,
you might find the matcha flavor weaker than expected.

On the other hand, the cream is truly delicious.
It's not greasy and incredibly smooth,
so even with a generous amount of cream, you'll find yourself finishing it without feeling overwhelmed.

What was particularly impressive
was the soboro topping.
It felt even crunchier than regular soboro,
creating a delightful textural contrast with the soft cream.

Matcha Croissant: An Honest Review
Its visual appeal definitely catches the eye right away.
It's topped with ganache,
and filled generously with matcha cream both inside and out.

I tried it after lightly freezing it
in the freezer.
The cream was incredibly smooth,
and its sweetness wasn't overpowering, making it very enjoyable.
The distinct layers of the croissant were perfectly preserved,
so I could really appreciate its crispy exterior and soft interior.
Again, the matcha flavor isn't very intense.
If you're expecting its characteristic bitterness,
you might find it a little lacking.

The ganache on top was delicious, but
the chocolate flavor was quite dominant,
so the matcha taste didn't really come through.
Personally,
I preferred removing the chocolate and eating it separately.
To sum it up in one sentence:
It's truly delicious.
If you're a cream lover, this is definitely a menu item you'll be satisfied with.
6. Insider Tips for Your Visit!
✔ Matcha treats are much easier to get your hands on during weekdays compared to weekends, so plan your visit wisely!
✔ During the year-end season, both the exterior and interior sparkle with a fantastic atmosphere – it's the perfect time for some memorable photos!
✔ If you appreciate a smooth, mellow matcha dessert over an intensely strong flavor, you'll find yourself incredibly satisfied!
✔ For parking, it’s most convenient to use a nearby public parking lot and then enjoy a short, pleasant walk to the store.

When you find yourself in Daejeon, this is truly a must-visit destination that will capture your heart!
It's not about extraordinarily bold or stimulating flavors;
instead, its incredible quality at an affordable price point, consistently delivering perfection,
is precisely why it has been cherished for so long.
The Matcha Soboro Croissant I savored this time
wasn't about an overpowering matcha scent;
it was wonderfully smooth and delightfully palatable for everyone,
making it a highly satisfying matcha treat.
Remember, purchasing is generally easier on weekdays, so keep that in mind for your visit!
If you're ever exploring Daejeon,
I wholeheartedly recommend embarking on a 'bread pilgrimage' (빵지순례) to Sungsimdang Main Store.
