I took my very first trip to Daejeon!

Since it was my first time visiting, I was trying to plan my itinerary and

naturally, everything ended up revolving around the legendary Sungsimdang!

I checked out the Main Branch, of course,

but I also made stops at the Cake Boutique, Terrace Kitchen, and even the Lotte Department Store branch.

Honestly, each spot had such unique charms and offerings that

trying to pack everything into one post would just be way too much!

So, in today's travel diary,

I'll be sharing my review of the Sungsimdang Main Branch first,

What's the Wait Like at the Daejeon Sungsimdang Main Branch?

I visited around 11 AM on a Thursday.

Since it was the day before a public holiday, I was a bit worried,

but luckily the wait wasn't bad at all!

(I only had to wait about 15 minutes before getting inside.)

While there is a line outside the main branch to get in,

Once you step inside, you don't have to wait in line anymore.

You can freely wander around and pick out your favorite breads!

The popular items are usually well-stocked in the morning,

but some breads do sell out later in the day.

So if you have your heart set on a specific one,

I highly recommend visiting a bit early!

The store itself isn't incredibly huge,

but with so many varieties and massive crowds,

you might find yourself frozen in decision paralysis!

that I personally tried and loved.

If you're a matcha lover, these two are absolute must-haves!

Filled with rich, velvety matcha cream, it's a match made in heaven.

I couldn't snap pictures of everything,

but literally every bread looks more delicious than the next.

Just grab whatever catches your eye!

Honestly, every single thing I tasted was incredible.

It's instantly clear why Sungsimdang is such a legendary spot.

For the Sungsimdang Sandwich Station!

While the first floor of the main branch is all about classic bakery items,

the basement floor hosts the Sandwich Station,

which focuses exclusively on freshly made sandwiches.

If you love hearty, thick sandwiches packed with fresh ingredients,

you absolutely cannot miss this spot!

A gorgeous spread of mouthwatering sandwiches and brunch items

lies right before your eyes. You won't be able to stop adding them to your tray!

French Mango & Melon 🥭🍈

These use actual fruit-infused cream,

giving them a vibe very similar to fruit sando.

But since they are absolutely loaded with way more fruit than a typical sando,

fruit lovers will find themselves in absolute paradise!

Filled with refreshing apples and rich cheese,

I also highly recommend the Apple Brie Cheese Sandwich!

With a layer of sweet apple jam inside,

it's a perfect blend of fresh, sweet, and savory goodness

all packed into one amazing sandwich.

My Final Thoughts on Sungsimdang Main Store

With way more bread varieties than I ever expected,

I walked out of the checkout lane with both hands completely full!

At first, I just thought of it as a famous local bakery,

but visiting it in person made me realize

why it’s considered a must-visit landmark in Daejeon.
