As soon as I arrived at Jeju Airport, I saw a pop-up store and my interest was piqued, so I decided to make it part of my Day 3 itinerary. I visited the official Studio Ghibli Exhibition, which recently opened in Jeju Donghwa Village, Gujwa-eup.
If you're looking for a unique indoor date spot during your Jeju trip, or if you want to capture some incredible life-long photos, you'll definitely want to read this post all the way to the end❗️❗️

The Studio Ghibli Exhibition is held in the Art Center within Donghwa Village, located in Gujwa-eup, Jeju.
There's a free parking lot within the Donghwa Village complex that can accommodate over 500 cars.
When you arrive at Donghwa Village, I recommend you don't immediately search for a parking spot right away; instead, I recommend using the parking lot directly in front of the Ghibli exhibition hall!
When we visited, there was a sudden downpour, so just in case of unexpected weather, I'd really recommend parking as close as you can to stay dry..!
Basic Exhibition Information
This 'Studio Ghibli Exhibition in Jeju' opened on July 11th this year and will run until February 28th next year (2027), making it a fairly long-running exhibition!
It operates daily from 9 AM to 7 PM, but since ticket sales and last entry close at 6 PM, you should aim to arrive by around 5:30 PM at the latest to enjoy your visit without feeling rushed🧐
Honestly, even though I've traveled to Japan so many times, I never really paid much attention to anime. But my interest recently blossomed, so encountering such a large-scale Ghibli exhibition here in Jeju was even more delightful and surprising!
My group visited about a week after the Studio Ghibli Exhibition opened, and as it was still quite new, there were a lot of people.
This isn't an exhibition you can just quickly glance through. You'll want to set aside a good 2 hours, and if you plan on thoroughly exploring the shops, you should allocate about 3 hours to truly appreciate everything.

Admission Perks

Upon entry, you're given one clear file and one round fan each,
It's a small touch, but it was nice to have them as souvenirs!
[SNS Photo Verification Event] & [Stamp Rally Tour Event]
In addition, an SNS photo verification event and a stamp rally tour event were also underway.
For the stamp rally, you get a pamphlet when you purchase items at the
MD shop, and then you collect stamps by visiting the Korico Cafe and Acorn Forest!

I couldn't make it to the outdoor area due to a sudden downpour, but
I highly recommend exploring it if you have the time..🥲
Exhibition Space, Exhibition Review
This is the map of the Studio Ghibli Exhibition that I saw while waiting in the ticket line!
Even the map itself is pretty and cute..
Adorable Totoro!
As soon as we entered, the wait for the Totoro photo zone was immense..
In a dimly lit space that felt like stepping into Totoro's forest,
I think we waited for about 30 minutes.
Because there's no time limit at the photo zone,
the line just kept getting longer and longer.. 😣
For those who don't want to take photos and just want to pass through,
you can go straight down the right line.
Usually, people who aren't familiar with Totoro, or those who think, 'Do I really need to stand in line for this?'
tend to just coolly walk past with a laugh haha.
Aside from the Totoro photo zone, it's a free-flowing exhibition,
so you only need to endure this one spot.. haha.
Once you get past the wait and see Totoro, your mood instantly brightens up!
So cute! 🩷
Ghibli's All-Time Masterpieces
I wanted to speed it up, but the production, including the sound, was so good,
I've uploaded it in its entirety, without any speed-up!
If you're a fan of Spirited Away,
you absolutely must see it 🤍
The Spirited Away street, in particular,
had an absolutely overwhelming production where day and night seamlessly transitioned,
and I genuinely felt like Chihiro herself.. hahaha.
(Though the photo is of my husband ^^,,)
It even got a little spooky at night ㅠㅠ
The quality is absolutely incredible, isn't it…?!
And here's Princess Mononoke, another one of my favorites…!
It was so enjoyable to explore such a variety of works!
Merchandise (Goods) Shop
In the area that followed the exhibition, for all you Ghibli fans,
a merchandise shop was ready to completely empty your wallets!
Postcards, figures, dolls, complete collections, etc.
There were so many high-quality items!
Plus, there are exclusive benefits only available at the Studio Ghibli Exhibition in Jeju,
so it's a good idea to allow at least 20-30 minutes to browse the gift shop.
With such a wide range of prices and varieties, browsing was incredibly fun,
but to prevent impulse buys,
I recommend setting a budget before you go...!
It's seriously easy to empty your wallet there! 😮
Overall Review and Conclusion
What I Loved | The exhibition quality itself was truly superb, from the detailed storyboards to the day and night atmospheric presentations. The spacious parking made it easy to get around by car. |
What Could Be Improved | The Totoro photo zone didn't have a separate queuing system, so you had to wait until the people in front finished taking photos or looking around. This meant wait times could feel quite long depending on when you visited! |

- Couples and friends looking for 'once-in-a-lifetime' photos
I think those in their 30s and 40s are definitely the Ghibli generation,
and as you explore the exhibition, those cherished memories from your youth will bubble up.
The high quality of the photo zones also made it perfect for capturing amazing shots.
🥲 Might be challenging for:
- Families with infants/toddlers or elderly parents
There are sections where you might have to stand and wait for over 30 minutes in dimly lit spaces, which can be physically demanding.
Make sure to bring alternatives to keep children entertained, and definitely check if strollers are allowed before your visit.
If you're planning an itinerary for the east side of Jeju,
it would be a fantastic addition to your plans.
And if you're a Ghibli fan, there's no question –
you absolutely *must* visit! I highly, highly recommend it 🤎
Thanks to this exhibition, I was able to experience Ghibli's intricate world right here in Jeju,
and it was truly a rich and fulfilling time 🫧
