I finally made it to Stoked & Stoned in Hannam-dong!

It’s been on my bucket list forever. I kept debating whether to go alone, but the location felt a bit tucked away for a solo mission. Luckily, my friend and I decided to hit it up to celebrate my birthday, and oh my god... 🩶 It is incredibly hip, ultra-sleek, and the deep techno-house music they spin is absolutely mind-blowing.

Visiting on a weekend completely shattered my expectations. I thought it would be a chill lounge bar, but it was absolutely electric. It feels way more like an intimate, exclusive underground club than a standard bar. Definitely Bar <<<< Club.

Here’s my honest review of Stoked & Stoned, where the music is simply out of this world.

After my friend treated me to an amazing birthday dinner at Juet (a local upscale Chinese spot—though honestly, skip their dim sum...), we decided to walk off our food coma around the streets of Hannam-dong. We needed a spot to keep the night going, so we headed straight to Stoked & Stoned.

We arrived right after the restaurant closed, around 9:30 to 10:00 PM, and the place was already packed to the brim.

The venue is tucked away inside a vintage, retro-style building that feels a bit like old-school Seoul. You might catch yourself wondering, "Is there seriously a trendy bar in here?" But once you spot the sign pointing to the second floor and head up, you'll find it right next to a delightfully retro billiard club.

They check IDs at the door, and they have a strict footwear policy: no sandals or open-toed shoes/slippers allowed for safety reasons (getting your toes crushed is a real risk here!). If you show up unprepared, you can actually purchase a pair of basic sneakers at the door for about ~$6. Luckily, the staff at the desk managed to find a pair to lend me, so we got in.

At first, I was so confused—I thought, "Wait, isn't this just a bar? Why is the dress code so strict on sandals?" 🥲 But once the crowd started pouring in, it clicked instantly. The space is cozy, and when the weekend rush hits, you will definitely get your feet stepped on if they're exposed! (Though if you manage to snag a table, you're perfectly safe.)

Even arriving around 10:00 PM, there weren't any bar stools or tables open at first. The staff told us a spot would open up soon, so we waited a brief moment before securing some prime seats right at the bar.

The menu itself is super clever, styled like a copy of Frieze art magazine. They have an impressive lineup of drinks—everything from signature cocktails and tequila to craft beers and champagne.

The second you step inside Stoked & Stoned, the sound system hits you. Videos really don't do it justice! Trust me on this—if you appreciate electronic music, you need to come here. The techno and house beats are incredibly deep, rich, and perfectly curated. I even ran into a friend here whom I only ever see at major underground music festivals! lol

As the night went on, the room filled up fast. Honestly, there are some days when I just don't have the energy to stand in a packed crowd to enjoy a drink. This was definitely one of those nights where I wanted to soak in the incredible tunes while comfortably bobbing my head from a seat. I was so incredibly glad we arrived early enough to snag those bar seats!

Oh, I almost forgot! Right after we ordered our first round of cocktails, the bartender had us play a fun little dice-rolling game. Depending on the numbers we rolled, they mixed up a complimentary custom shot for us! 🍸 I still have no idea why they did it, but hey, we weren't complaining!

Anyway, just before the space transitioned into full-on club mode, we started sipping on an Espresso Martini and another mystery cocktail.
