Standard Bread Dosan Review 2026: Apgujeong's Hottest Bakery Cafe
Dive into Standard Bread Dosan, a must-visit in Apgujeong for incredible freshly baked bread, unique spreads, and a stunning four-story cafe experience.

Today, I'm thrilled to share my experience visiting Standard Bread Dosan, one of the trendiest bakery cafes in Apgujeong Rodeo right now!
I'd heard so much buzz about this 'saengsikppang' (raw bread) bakery, famously praised by celebrity chefs Hong Seok-cheon and Lee Won-il. It was on my must-visit list for ages, and I finally made it. The verdict? It absolutely lives up to the hype!
📍 Location & How to Get There
Address: 1F, 13 Dosan-daero 53-gil, Gangnam-gu, Seoul
It's a quick 5-10 minute walk from Apgujeong Rodeo Station Exit 5.
Hours: Open daily from 8:00 AM to 9:00 PM (last order 8:30 PM)
📍 Standard Bread Dosan
13 Dosan-daero 53-gil, Gangnam-gu, Seoul
While it's super easy to reach by subway, keep in mind that self-parking isn't available; only valet parking is offered. If you're driving, factor in the valet fee!
I went on a weekday, and thankfully, there were no long lines or waits.
🏠 Atmosphere & Interior
Standard Bread Dosan isn't just a cafe; it's an entire building dedicated to deliciousness. This massive four-story bakery cafe is truly impressive in scale.
As soon as you walk in, the sight of the oven (or hearth?) and the bread displays makes you feel like you've entered a true 'bread factory.'
The overall aesthetic features warm wood tones and expansive glass windows, creating a bright, serene, and sophisticated ambiance. If you love trendy European-inspired interiors, you'll find countless photo opportunities here.
Each floor serves a slightly different purpose, making it fun to explore as you ascend. The seating is also generously spaced, which is great if you're visiting with kids or have a lot of bags.
During my visit, there was also a Gyumae Bakery pop-up on the 3rd floor.

🍞 Freshly Baked Bread: The Absolute Highlight!
The system here is quite unique: freshly baked 'saengsikppang' (raw bread) and brioche loaves are brought out every 30 minutes, from 9:00 AM to 8:00 PM. This means you can always get your hands on a warm, just-baked loaf.

Oh, the taste of freshly baked bread! It's incredible! When you tear into a warm loaf, steam gently rises, revealing a chewy yet incredibly soft interior… words can't even describe it. It's a completely different experience from eating bread that's cooled down.
They offer an amazing variety of 'saengsikppang':
Salted Butter Saengsikppang (Signature)
Classic Saengsikppang
Basil Tomato Saengsikppang
Nut Gorgonzola Saengsikppang
Black Olive Saengsikppang
Chestnut Coffee Saengsikppang
Brioche / Corn Brioche Loaf
Truffle Tissue Loaf, and many more!
There were so many choices that I was a bit overwhelmed, but a staff member kindly recommended the Salted Butter. Next time, I'm definitely trying the Basil Tomato and Truffle Tissue loaves!
😊 Incredibly Friendly Staff
This is something I absolutely had to mention! The staff members at the bread counter on the first floor are exceptionally friendly and helpful. I was new to the cafe and looking around, unsure what to order, when a staff member approached me. They gave an excellent explanation of the best-selling items and popular breads, which made my decision so much easier.
🧈 The Spreads Are a Game-Changer!
Another fantastic discovery here was their selection of spreads. They have over 20 types of homemade spreads, including Chunky Strawberry, Kaymak, Salted Caramel, Milk Tea, Custard, Tomato Cream Cheese, Dubai Chocolate, and so many more… I spent ages just trying to decide! Each spread also had recommendations for which bread it paired best with, which was incredibly helpful for a first-timer.
🍽️ What I Ordered
1. Salted Butter Saengsikppang (half) — ~$4
As their signature item, I couldn't pass this up! The moment you tear into it, it pulls apart into chewy strands. The crust is slightly crisp, while the inside is wonderfully moist and soft – truly the best of both worlds. The rich butter flavor with a subtle hint of salt makes it delicious on its own, but it takes on a new life with a spread. The half size was perfect for two people to enjoy a light taste 👍
2. Crème Brûlée French Toast
~$9 (+ added ice cream)

This was undoubtedly the star of my meal 😋. It arrived sizzling in a hot cast-iron skillet, and the presentation alone was a winner! Adding ice cream took it to another level; the warm toast with cold ice cream was an absolutely divine combination 🍨.
The exterior had a slightly crisp, caramelized sugar crust, just like a crème brûlée, while the interior was soft and moist, creating a perfect sweet and savory balance. Seriously, adding ice cream is a non-negotiable – you'll regret it if you don't!
Two Iced Americanos ☕☕
Since the bread and toast were rich and sweet, pairing them with iced americanos perfectly cut through the richness. We ordered two, each enjoying our own while relaxing.
💭 One Small Downside
There was just one minor inconvenience:
The cafe has a system where you pick up bread on the first floor, and drinks separately on the second floor. This meant I had to walk between floors to collect my items after finding a table 😅. It was a bit cumbersome, especially if you have bags. If you're visiting for the first time, knowing this in advance might save you some hassle!
⭐ Overall Impressions
The reputation as a 'saengsikppang' hotspot is well-deserved. The freshly baked bread, served warm every 30 minutes, is absolutely incredible 👍. The staff's friendly and helpful recommendations were a huge plus 👍. With over 20 types of homemade spreads, there's endless fun in choosing 👍. The Crème Brûlée French Toast with ice cream is a powerful recommendation 👍👍. The four-story space, complete with terrace views, offers a fantastic ambiance 👍. And visiting on a weekday meant a relaxed experience without waiting! 👍 The only minor drawback was the split pickup for bread and drinks, which made the flow a little less seamless.
If you're wondering where to go for a cafe experience in Apgujeong or Dosan, I wholeheartedly recommend Standard Bread Dosan :)
