My cousin, aunt, and the rest of our family – a total of five of us
embarked on a wonderful trip to Jeju Island.
With a large group, we found that getting two or three separate hotel rooms
was actually less cost-effective than
booking one resort unit for everyone to stay in together.
So, we opted for a Family Suite at Jeju Shinhwa World Somerset.
I'll be sharing all about our stay, from the room details
to the incredible Jeju Shinhwa World Waterpark and swimming pools!
1. Location, Check-in, & Price

Let's dive straight into the price information,
which I know you're most curious about!
The prices at Jeju Shinhwa Somerset vary depending on
whether it's peak or off-peak season,
and weekdays or weekends.
For a Family Suite in July and August,
the cheapest days were around ~$242,
while the most expensive days reached around ~$538.
After the peak season, prices in September and October drop to
around ~$173 to ~$242.
Currently, on Yeogi Eottae, you can stack a 7% coupon with
a ~$21 coupon,
allowing you to enjoy Jeju Shinhwa Somerset at a fantastic
discounted price of up to 13% off!
Keep in mind that prices might vary slightly depending on your dates
and ongoing real-time promotions,
so the most accurate way to check is to search directly
based on your planned travel dates.
If two people tried to stay at a hotel during peak season,
it would likely cost around ~$69 per person,
but with 5-6 people sharing one room at the Somerset resort
for around ~$242, the cost per person drops significantly!
Plus, with a living room, private bedrooms, a kitchen,
and home appliances like a microwave and washing machine,
you get to enjoy all the comforts of home.
I truly believe that for family trips, a resort like this
offers much better value for money!

Jeju Shinhwa World Somerset features a
residence-style layout, spanning nearly 50 pyeong.
It typically includes three bedrooms, a living room, a kitchen,
two bathrooms, and a terrace.
When booking, one of the biggest decisions is often between the two main room types.

Since we all prefer beds over ondol, we chose the
Family Suite type.
In the evenings, we'd all gather in the living room
for late-night snacks and lively chats.
Then, when it was time to sleep, we could each retreat to our own rooms
for undisturbed rest – it was perfect!
By the way, with two bathrooms,
it was really convenient for several people to use.
3. Tamnora Pool vs. Shinhwa Water Park Comparison
Jeju Shinhwa World Somerset has two types of
water play facilities!
One is Tamnora Pool
the other is Jeju Shinhwa Water Park!

We visited both places during our 3-day, 2-night stay,
and since both are located within the resort complex,
we didn't have to pack up all our belongings
and travel far, which was fantastic!
The price for Jeju Shinhwa World Water Park is
~$55 at full price,
but prices vary by low season, shoulder season, and high season.
July 4th to August 23rd is high season,
tickets can be purchased for ~$52 per person.
To get an even better deal
on Jeju Shinhwa World Water Park,
I'll give you a tip for your visit!
Naver is selling a 4-person ticket
for ~$130, you know?
This is an amazing 40% discount,
so if four or more people are going,
you can pay for the 4-person water park ticket on Naver Booking
and lower the price per person.
If you want to purchase individual tickets, you can buy them here
for about 5% cheaper!
4. Breakfast Information
Breakfast at Jeju Shinhwa World Somerset
is available at a restaurant called Seonghwajeong
from 7 AM to 11 AM.
We didn't
book breakfast separately this time,
because if you're 13 or older, it's ~$40 per person,
and for children, it's ~$24...
It's quite pricey, honestly! 😢
Not only is the price steep,
but the in-room kitchen facilities are so well-equipped
that we felt there was no need to have breakfast
at the restaurant!
In the room, you'll find a refrigerator, gas stove, microwave,
electric kettle, and toaster
all standard amenities.
Along with dishes like plates, bowls, and cups,
and pots, pans, knives,
you'll find all the cooking utensils you need
to easily cook your own meals.
You can use ingredients bought at the supermarket the day before
or food you brought yourself
to prepare your meals,
so there's absolutely no need to spend money on breakfast!
5. Pros and Cons of Our Stay
As I briefly mentioned earlier,
the spaciousness, separate rooms, and in-room amenities
like a microwave and wine cellar
were all incredibly impressive,
But the washing machine and dryer were an absolute game-changer!
After visiting the pool or water park,
we could immediately wash our damp swimsuits
and toss them in the dryer,
so they were perfectly dry and fresh
to wear again the next morning. It was incredibly convenient!
The only downside? Trash disposal is self-service.
It's a common feature of residence-style accommodations,
but you do have to take care of your own trash and recycling
during your stay. Guests are responsible for handling it themselves.
While it might be a *tad* inconvenient,
it wasn't a major issue for us at all! 😄
6. Who It's For & Our Overall Verdict
Somerset Jeju Shinhwa World was truly the perfect accommodation
for family trips with children,
or for larger family gatherings
like ours.
The common areas are wonderfully spacious and comfortable,
and with three separate rooms,
everyone still gets a good amount of their own private space!
With the swimming pools and even a water park right within the resort complex,
everything was conveniently accessible. This meant both the adults and the kids
could have a blast without getting overly exhausted!
Plus, having all the kitchen tools, a washing machine,
and a dryer readily available was a huge convenience!
It made cooking meals so easy, and drying our clothes after all the water fun
was a breeze!
Overall, our family had a truly satisfying and memorable
visit! 😊
Just a heads-up: during weekends and peak holiday seasons,
rooms can get booked up quickly.
(For example, July 30th, 31st,
and August 1st and 15th are already fully booked! 😟)
Also, prices for Somerset Jeju Shinhwa World vary by date,
so it’s a good idea to check.
Make sure to always check the availability and any special discounts
before you book your stay! ✨
During the peak season of July and August, Family Suite rooms range from the mid-~$240s to the late ~$520s. After the peak season, in September and October, prices decrease to the mid-~$170s to mid-~$240s.
During the peak season from July 4th to August 23rd, tickets can be purchased for ~$52 per person. If you are visiting with 4 or more people, you can buy a 4-person ticket for ~$130 on Naver, which allows you to use the park at a 40% discounted price.
Breakfast at Sung Hwa Jung is available from 7 AM to 11 AM. It costs ~$40 for guests aged 13 and above, and ~$24 for children. The rooms are fully equipped with kitchen facilities such as a refrigerator, gas stove, microwave, and tableware, allowing you to prepare and enjoy breakfast yourself.
Both room types share the same layout: 3 bedrooms, a living room, a kitchen, 2 bathrooms, and a terrace. The Family Suite consists of a king bed in the master bedroom, a queen bed in the middle room, and a single bed in the small room. The Family Suite Ondol, however, provides an Ondol (Korean heated floor) room with a traditional Korean floor mattress set in the small room.
Having a washing machine and dryer in the room allows you to immediately wash and dry your wet swimsuits after using the water park or swimming pool. This is very convenient as it means you can wear fresh, dry clothes the next morning.
