Jippul Dakbal Shindang Review 2026: Spicy Chicken Feet & Retro Vibes
Discover Jippul Dakbal in Shindang, a popular spot known for its unique 1988 ironworks interior and delicious Daechang Kkudeok Dakbal. Get tips on beating the wait!

- Operating hours are daily from 4:30 PM to 11:00 PM.
- Expect significant waiting lines, even on weekdays; an 'open run' strategy (arriving before opening) is highly recommended.

- Parking is not available on-site; guests should use nearby public parking or public transportation.

These days, if you're exploring the hot spots in Shindang (신당),
there's one trending bar that definitely comes up!
That's Jippul Dakbal Main Branch (짚뿔닭발 본점).
I'd heard so much about how intense the waiting line could be,
so this time, I was determined to try an open run on a weekday.
If you're a fan of dakbal (chicken feet),
from the rich and chewy Daechang Kkudeok Dakbal (대창꾸덕닭발) that's hard to pass up,
to their unique Soju Jjabaki Set (쐬주 짜박이 세트)!
The food is fantastic, but what truly caught my eye was the **main branch's interior, which feels like stepping into a 1988 ironworks**.
I'll share my honest reviews of the dishes I tried, and even some essential waiting tips.
01. Jippul Dakbal Main Branch Basic Information

Category | Details |
Location | 1F, 409-9 Toegyero (퇴계로), Jung-gu (중구), Seoul * 1-minute walk from Sindang Station (신당역) Exit 12 * 2-minute walk from Sindang Station Exit 1 |
Operating Hours | Daily 16:30~23:00 |
Inquiries | 02-2234-4134 |
Parking | Not available (please use nearby public parking lots) |

Jippul Dakbal is conveniently located close to both Sindang Station Line 2 and Line 6,
making it super easy to get to by public transport.
It's **about a 2-minute walk from Line 2, Exit 1,**
and **about a 1-minute walk from Line 6, Exit 12** —
talk about amazing accessibility, right?

However, because it's such a popular bar in Sindang,
you might face a waiting line during the evening hours, so I strongly recommend doing an open run.
Even though I went for an open run on a weekday this time,
people started lining up one by one around 4:30 PM.
If it's like this on a weekday, I can only imagine the wait would be even longer on weekends.
**If you're planning to visit on a weekend, an open run is non-negotiable!**
If an open run isn't possible, you might consider coming at a later hour instead!
02. From Exterior to Interior: An Atmosphere Like Stepping into a 1988 Ironworks

Jippul Dakbal Main Branch boasts a vibe that's completely different from your average dakbal restaurant.
It's conceptualized after an **ironworks in Daegu's (대구) Seongseo Industrial Complex (성서공단) from 1988**, and it's also said to recreate the atmosphere of the old industrial street that links Wangsimni (왕십리) to Sindang.

From the exterior sign to the weathered iron door, red bricks, and even decorative straw bales, everything was truly striking!
With its high ceiling, open layout, silver round tables, and vintage metal cabinets, it felt like I had stepped right into a vibrant workshop within an old industrial complex.

And a space you absolutely can't miss at Jippul Dakbal is the **open kitchen**.
They've opened up the kitchen so you can directly watch the charcoal-grilling process using straw.
Personally, I was curious about the atmosphere at other branches, so I checked out some reviews,
and it's clear that no other branch can quite capture the unique ironworks concept of the Sindang Main Branch.

If you're searching for a bar with a truly unique and appealing atmosphere among the many options near Sindang Station,
Jippul Dakbal was definitely worth visiting just for its distinctive space and ambiance alone.
Since there's no dedicated parking lot at the restaurant,
you'll need to **use nearby public parking lots**.
However, considering it's only a 1-minute walk from Sindang Station and you'll likely be enjoying some drinks,
I'd strongly recommend taking public transportation.
03. Menu and Order Details

Jippul Dakbal (짚뿔닭발) lives up to its name with chicken feet as its main dish,
but they also have a variety of great side dishes to go with it.
I ordered the Rich Daechang Dakbal, Butter Clam Stew, and the
Soju Jjabagi Set.
✅ Rich Daechang Dakbal (for 1 person) ₩19,000 (~$14)
✅ Butter Clam Stew ₩18,900 (~$14)
✅ Soju Jjabagi Set ₩15,900 (~$12)
For the chicken feet, you need to choose one spice level from Mild (Sunhanmat), Original (Wonjomat), or Hell (Jiokmat),
and you also have to choose between Boneless Chicken Feet (Muppyeo Dakbal) vs. Tulip Chicken Feet (Tulip Dakbal)!
Personally, I believe that the real fun of eating chicken feet comes from
holding the bones and tearing the meat off with your hands, so
this time I chose the Tulip Chicken Feet (with bones) again.
For the spice level, I ordered the Original (Wonjomat).
The Original (Wonjomat) itself is already quite spicy,
and since the Hell (Jiokmat) level was highlighted in red on the menu,
it really felt like it would be intensely hot... haha.

And I also ordered the Soju Jjabagi Set,
a special menu item you can only experience here!
It comes with two bottles of soju, a pitcher filled with plenty of lemon juice and cucumber,
and jjabagi glasses.
The name itself was unique and piqued my curiosity,
but when I actually received it, the visual impact was truly striking,
it felt like one of those jjabagi sets where the drinks would just keep flowing!
04. Jippul Dakbal: An Honest Review

Finally, the much-anticipated Rich Daechang Dakbal arrived!
It was generously packed with large chunks of daechang, chicken feet, bean sprouts, and
topped with Gondrenamul (곤드레나물) as a garnish.
The combination of daechang added to regular chicken feet was already intriguing,
but with the gondrenamul on top,
a subtle aroma of the thistles rose as it cooked~

When eaten with the spicy sauce, the bean sprouts retained
their unique crunchy texture,
making each bite enjoyable.
And when the large chunks of daechang were added,
meeting the bean sprouts, the texture became even richer.
Daechang's chewy yet soft texture is truly captivating!

I thought it might be a bit greasy since it's an oily ingredient,
but when paired with the spicy sauce, it wasn't as greasy as I expected.
In fact, the spicy sauce complemented the rich, savory flavor of the daechang perfectly.

And the Tulip Chicken Feet that I chose!
Indeed, chicken feet are always more fun when you can hold them by the bone and tear the meat off.
The chicken feet, thoroughly coated in the rich sauce,
tasted amazing as I alternated bites with the daechang and bean sprouts,
creating a dynamic change in texture.

Eating only chicken feet might get tiresome or too spicy,
but having the daechang and bean sprouts to neutralize the heat
made it a deliciously spicy side dish that I could truly enjoy.
If you're looking for a spicy snack or a lively pub near Sindang Station (신당역),
I think this place is definitely worth checking out!

However, I thought the aroma of gondrenamul might be a hit or miss for some people.
A subtle herbal scent rises from it, and if you're not usually a fan of gondrenamul,
it might feel a bit unfamiliar.
That said, the scent isn't overly strong, but if the herbal aroma bothers you,
it might be a good idea to try eating it without the gondrenamul at first!

Even the Original (Wonjomat) flavor is inherently spicy,
but dipping it in the complimentary sauce makes it delicious in a different way.
Plus, you can get free refills on the sauce, so if it's too spicy,
just dip it deep into the sauce!

The Butter Clam Stew (버터바지락술찜) was a comforting soup dish I ordered out of caution, worried about how spicy the *dakbal* (chicken feet) would be.
Just as I expected, the soup was wonderfully refreshing and had a delightful kick that was truly appealing!
With its savory umami flavor, it paired perfectly as a *soju* (Korean liquor) snack.

When I tried the clams, they were well-purged, and the milky broth was incredibly refreshing. After a bite of the spicy Grilled Chicken Feet with Large Intestines (대창닭발), a spoonful of the stew's broth really cleansed my palate!

With the savory richness of butter combined with the umami of clams, this one dish alone is enough to polish off two bottles of *soju*. If you're looking to enjoy both a spicy dish and a comforting soup, make sure to order the Butter Clam Stew as well.

The Ssoju Jjabaki Set (쐬주 짜박이 세트) comes with two bottles of *soju*, lemon juice, a pitcher generously filled with sliced cucumbers, and *jjabaki* glasses (짜박이잔).
With the refreshing cucumber scent infusing the *soju*, it had a completely different feel from the usual *soju* I drink. Since there are so many cucumbers, the cucumber aroma is quite strong.

So, if you're not a fan of cucumber aroma, definitely don't order the Ssoju Jjabaki Set! Haha.
If you're looking for a pub in Sindang and want to enjoy *dakbal* and drinks in a slightly different atmosphere, try visiting Jippul Dakbal Main Branch (짚뿔닭발 본점)! 😊
