My friends and I, three of us, ended up going to The Shilla Seoul.

Since the three of us often travel together, we love trying out different room types at each hotel,

This time, we decided to add an extra bed to a Deluxe Twin Room and make the most of the facilities and breakfast!

While The Shilla Seoul's official check-in time is 3 PM, early check-in is often possible from around 2 PM.

We arrived a little past 2 PM, waited briefly, and were able to check in around 2:30 PM.

Our room for today was Room 815.

As soon as we opened the door, a lush green view unfolded before us!

The Shilla Hotel is located on a hill, so one of its perks is that the view is pretty decent even if you're not on a high floor.

The Deluxe Twin Room is 36㎡,

and while it's not super spacious, there was certainly enough comfortable space for three of us.

Being a twin room, there are two generously sized twin beds with a side table placed between them,

and a spacious table and TV are set up in front of the window.

When booking, you can choose between a City View and Namsan View,

and we opted for the City View, which offered an expansive vista of The Shilla's Yeongbingwan (Guest House) and Palgakjeong (Octagonal Pavilion), so we were very satisfied :)

It looked like there was an event held outdoors at Yeongbingwan that day, as tables and chairs were set up outside.

Let's take a closer look at the room's interior,

One thing that was a bit disappointing was that there was a wooden blind on the bathroom window, but no matter how hard I looked, I couldn't figure out how to raise it!

There were no buttons or handles, so I searched for a while before giving up...!

For the minibar, complimentary items include TWG tea, drip coffee, and two bottles of mineral water.

A multi-tool knife, spoons, and mugs are also provided.

The fridge was fully stocked with drinks, and there was even a separate bottle of whisky, though we decided not to touch that one 😆

An amenity kit is also available for purchase. (Price: ~$21)

It includes shampoo, conditioner, body wash, soap, toothbrush, toothpaste, razor, shaving foam, and a comb — a total of 9 items.

The wardrobe right by the entrance has two sections, offering plenty of space.

You'll find bathrobes, an umbrella, and bags prepared for your convenience.

The bathroom felt clean and minimalist, featuring dark wood and marble finishes.

The toilet, bathtub, and shower booth were all separately arranged, which was great.

I really wanted to watch TV from this bathtub, but I couldn't figure out how to raise the blinds 😂

The hairdryer is a Vidal Sassoon product,

and the amenities are from Molton Brown.

The Shilla Seoul Extra Bed

Since we were on a 'hocance' (hotel vacation) for three, we added an extra person and requested an extra bed.

The additional cost for an extra bed at The Shilla Seoul was a reasonable ~$41! These days, many places charge over ~$69, so this was a pleasant surprise! 😅

They set up the extra bed right by the TV, which meant it didn't obstruct our movement and allowed us to stay comfortably.

While the extra bed was a bit less plush than the main beds, it was still comfortable enough for a good night's sleep.

There's one power outlet by the table,

while the outlets near the beds are neatly hidden inside the drawer between the twin beds.

Plus, there's a separate technology kit, meaning a USB-C charger is provided as standard :) On top of that, you can even borrow iPhone cables, LAN cables, and HDMI cables upon request.

Another thing I loved was that magazines and books were available in the room!

Inside the drawer, there was a booklet introducing Seoul's concept stores and craft spaces, which was perfect for a quick browse.

Pillow Selection at The Shilla Seoul

As I was getting ready for bed, I discovered a custom pillow service guide in the drawer!

What's amazing is that you can choose from a whopping 8 different types of pillows.

Initially, I wanted to rent a body pillow, but they were out of stock.

If you're interested in a body pillow, it seems best to request it quickly!

We chose from three options: Tempur Original, Lofty Sleepnick, and Nordic Sleep.

And just like that, three pillows were delivered in their dedicated bags, LOL!

From left to right, we have Tempur Original, Nordic Sleep, and Lofty Sleepnick!

Since I usually prefer the curved Tempur pillow style, I went with the Tempur Original.

My friend looked it up and decided on the Lofty Sleepnick, claiming it was the most expensive one, LOL (it was over ~$207!). What was fascinating was that the material varied depending on the contact surface, so there were areas that felt cool!

Another friend requested the soft Nordic Sleep Fossflakes, and it was indeed much softer and had a wonderfully plush texture compared to a standard pillow.

If there's a pillow you've always been curious about, it would be a great opportunity to test it out!

And finally, one more thing,

When you first check in, you also receive a mini informational brochure like this.

It includes a simple map of The Shilla Seoul and an introduction to its facilities, and also,

Sometimes, it also contains seasonal event coupons like these, so make sure to take a close look!

When we visited, there was a wine market at the Urban Island swimming pool, so a lucky draw coupon was included 😉
