Shilla Hotel Seoul is perched on a hill, making it a bit of a trek on foot from public transport. Luckily, a free shuttle bus makes your journey effortless!

Perched atop a hill, The Shilla Seoul offers breathtaking views, but getting there by public transport can feel like a bit of a hike. While taxis or private cars are convenient, imagine arriving effortlessly without the uphill climb!
That's where the fantastic free shuttle bus comes in handy. Let's dive into how you can easily catch a ride!

My friends and I had other plans before our luxurious staycation, so we needed to reach The Shilla Hotel by subway.
Initially, map apps like Naver Maps will typically direct you to take Exit 5 from Dongguk University Station and walk uphill.
📍 The Shilla Seoul
249 Dongho-ro, Jung-gu, Seoul
Here's a pro tip you won't always find on map apps!
A convenient round-trip shuttle bus operates between Dongguk University Station (Exit 5) and The Shilla Hotel entrance, including the duty-free shop. It makes getting around a breeze!

Once you exit Dongguk University Station via Exit 5, look for signs towards The Shilla Seoul and take the escalator up.

Right in front of you, you'll spot a public bus stop for 'Naepyeon Jung-gu Bus'. This is precisely where you can catch The Shilla Hotel shuttle bus.
When I visited, I was lucky enough to find the shuttle waiting, so I hopped right on!
The shuttle runs frequently, typically every 5-10 minutes, so even if there isn't one immediately, a short wait at this spot will usually do the trick.

The Shilla Hotel shuttle operates on a convenient round-trip route:
Dongguk University Station Exit 5 > Main Entrance > Lobby > Duty Free Shop
It's designed for seamless travel!

After you first board, the shuttle makes a U-turn before heading up to the Shilla Hotel entrance.

It makes a stop at the Main Lobby, where the entrance parking lot is located.
As you can see, the incline is quite significant. Walking down might be manageable, but trekking up could definitely be a challenge!

I boarded around 14 minutes past the hour and arrived at The Shilla Hotel Lobby around 17 minutes past! Talk about efficiency.

The shuttle drops you off right in front of the main entrance, making your arrival at the lobby incredibly smooth and comfortable :)
There's no special verification for hotel guests or visitors; it's a frequently operating shuttle, so anyone can hop on and off with ease.
The driver was also incredibly friendly and helpful.

When you're ready to head back down towards Dongguk University Station, you can catch the shuttle from the exact same spot in front of the main entrance.

The Shilla Hotel shuttle operates continuously from 9:30 AM to 10:00 PM daily. It's incredibly reliable!
My friends and I found it super useful. After checking in and enjoying our room, we even used it again in the evening for a quick trip nearby!

Beyond the local route, The Shilla Hotel also offers shuttle services that extend to popular downtown areas like Myeongdong and Dongdaemun Design Plaza (DDP).
However, these city-bound shuttles don't run as frequently as the local one. They operate approximately once every hour.
The schedules for the Myeongdong and Dongdaemun (DDP) routes can vary slightly, so if you plan to use them, it's a great idea to check the timetable in advance.

The Shilla Hotel lobby, always a delightful space, greets you with impressive artworks by artists Park Sun-gi and Lee Bae.

After meeting my friends in the lobby, we were able to check in a bit early, around 2:30 PM. What a great start to our staycation!
