my jaw dropped at the spacious area.

It really seems like they're using the entire second floor of the building,

an incredibly vast dining space.

Also, the tables are well-separated,

so even if there are a lot of people inside,

without feeling crowded,

you can enjoy your meal comfortably.

Even with people right at the next table,

the separation is definite!

True to its 'The Black' moniker,

the ambiance is indeed black-toned.

Now, typically, dining spaces (I'm not talking about pubs here!)

don't often go for a dark decor.

But despite The Black's darker setting,

thanks to the smart lighting and its unique 'planterior' (plant interior design),

the inside feels anything but dull!

And the reason I recommend it for family dining...

Kids' free-range fun!

Of course, parental guidance and supervision are always necessary,

but there's a dedicated 'Kids' Garden'

where children can run around and play to their hearts' content!

Time to put on our aprons and embark on a delicious hunt through the buffet!

For your shabu-shabu broth, don't hesitate—

you can pick two different types for the half-and-half pot!

For those of us who aren't fans of Mala,

the vegetable broth and katsuobushi broth are fantastic choices.

The Jjamppong broth is also super popular for its spicy kick, and while I might not go for it myself,

I've seen plenty of people seeking out the Mala broth!

A kind staff member explained that the deep, square container is for shabu-shabu vegetables,

and the round one is for Vietnamese spring roll vegetables/toppings.

After that, it was a run, run, run to get food!

I just couldn't stop myself~~

Their three-pronged philosophy:

they promise to serve with spotless dishes,

honest intentions,

and heartfelt devotion.

There are even dishes and spoon/fork sets for children!

I've never seen so many sauces

at a shabu-shabu place before!

My eyes just widened at the overwhelming variety of sauces.

Chili, peanut, garlic, minced garlic, Cheongyang chili,

spicy sauce, sesame, chili oil,

sesame oil, soy sauce dip, Korean mustard, oyster sauce,

hoisin sauce, green onions, fish sauce, sugar,

... and so on!

There were even recommended sauce combinations

to help you find your perfect flavor profile,

so I tried making the ambitious Geon-hee Sauce.

(My older companions were like, "Geon-hee? Who's that?

Lee Kun-hee?" LOL)

And the sauces aren't just in one spot;

they're spread out throughout the buffet,

making them pleasant to access.

Is this the Haidilao style?

Veggies that are even better when you know their benefits!

Napa cabbage helps prevent constipation and colon cancer.

Crown daisy prevents inflammation.

Bok choy is good for blood pressure and dieting.

Chives are packed with vitamins,

and water parsley is said to be great for detoxification and antioxidants.

Though I couldn't capture everything in photos,

there's a Korean food + seaweed soup section,

and for those who love noodles more than juk,

Shabu Garden truly offers a generous selection of all kinds of noodles,

like corn noodles and ramen noodles.

Seriously, from Korean, Western, Chinese, Japanese, all the way to desserts,

it's undeniably a global cuisine feast!

At a shabu-shabu buffet,

you'd never expect to find these dishes:

Pufferfish Bulgogi

and Mushroom Cream Gnocchi!

Dining Review

For the rice paper,

since it's dry-style, a thoughtful staff member advised us

to use lukewarm water or enjoy it with warm food, instead of hot water.

And because the paper is square, not round,

it felt just like wrapping *gim* (seaweed)!

Once the broth boiled, we loaded it with plenty of vegetables

and let it simmer vigorously.

We skillfully brought over fish cake skewers from the street food (bunsik) section

and plunged them into the shabu broth.

Wrapping it with our hands,

and twirling it with chopsticks...

Dessert Time!

If you can't enjoy draft beer or highballs,

And let me tell you, the dessert lineup? Absolutely spectacular!

Cherry tomatoes, apple mango, lychee,

two types of pudding, and tangerines.

I kept it simple, just a little scoop!
