Seoul Station to Incheon Airport AREX General Train: 2026 Guide

Normally, I'm all about comfort and taking the airport limousine when heading to Incheon Airport.

But this time, my mission wasn't a getaway for myself,

but a pickup trip to the airport, so no big suitcases in tow!

So this time, I decided to shake things up a bit!

I hopped on Line 4 from Chungmuro Station to Seoul Station,

and then for the final leg, I experienced the Airport Railroad (AREX) All Stop Train.

And get this – the actual fare I paid that day was just ~$3!

The price difference compared to other options was quite surprising, in a good way, haha.

I honestly braced myself for a chaotic transfer at Seoul Station,

but it turns out I worried for nothing! The signage was fantastic, and with plenty of moving walkways and

escalators, it was surprisingly smooth and comfortable~~

So, if you're curious, here's the exact path I took from Chungmuro Station, transferring at Seoul Station to the Airport Railroad,

all the way to Incheon Airport!

Chungmuro → Seoul Station

From Chungmuro Station, you just need to take Line 4 towards Seoul Station.

Boarding at car 8-1 is the fastest way to transfer 🤍✨️​

It's a super quick ride to Seoul Station, just your standard subway trip!

Once you alight at Seoul Station,

simply keep your eyes peeled for the Airport Railroad / Incheon International Airport signs and follow them!

The Airport Railroad signs pop up quite clearly right after you get off.

I was fully expecting the Seoul Station transfer to be a bit of a labyrinth,

but honestly, the path itself was incredibly straightforward once I was actually there.

Seoul Station Incheon International Airport Airport Railroad Transfer Guide / Stairs

Simply keep following the signs for Incheon International Airport / Airport Railroad.

You'll spot other signs for Line 1, GTX-A, and KTX too,

but don't get sidetracked – as long as you stick to the Airport Railroad logo, you're golden!

Initially, I wondered if it would be a hassle with luggage,

but turns out, no worries! There are escalators,

and for those longer stretches, convenient moving walkways are also readily available.

So, the verdict is: you'll walk a little, but the transfer itself is a breeze!

The consistent signage means you won't feel lost or confused

trying to find your way.

Where to Catch the All Stop Train

Okay, pay attention right here – just for a moment! The Airport Railroad offers two distinct options...

Orange = Express Train

Blue = All Stop Train

They are divided as such, and I took the All Stop Train that day.

(The absolute best value option!!)

The All Stop Train is super convenient – no need for advance reservations!

It was so convenient to just tap my transportation card and head straight in!

I started from Chungmuro and transferred directly,

and the actual fare charged was ~$3.

Since I didn't have any luggage that day, there was no reason to pay more than ~$7 extra,

so I opted for the All-Stop train!!

However, the Express Train is a bit different from the All-Stop Train.

It offers reserved seating and goes directly from Seoul Station to Incheon Airport,

so if you want to travel more comfortably or are pressed for time,

the Express Train might be the better choice.

Also, Express Train tickets are sometimes sold at a discount on travel platforms, rather than at full price,

AREX All-Stop Train

Once you descend to the All-Stop train platform,

just confirm it's the Incheon Airport-bound train and hop on!

From Seoul Station to Incheon Airport Terminal 1,

it takes approximately 59 minutes according to official announcements.

While it takes longer than the Express Train,

it's more like a subway, stopping at various stations along the way.

There's no need to memorize every single station on the line;

just make sure you're on the Incheon Airport-bound train, and you're good to go! 😄

Arriving at Incheon Airport Terminal 1

I got off at Incheon Airport Terminal 1 that day.

After getting off, it's super easy to navigate!

Just follow the signs for "Exit" / "Terminal 1".

After tapping out at the ticket gate, just keep following the signs for Terminal 1.

Here too, there are escalators and moving walkways,

so many people were moving along with their suitcases.

If you take the moving walkway/escalator up from here, you'll reach the 2nd floor.

If you're heading to the arrival floor, which is the 1st floor, you don't necessarily need to take them~

Which floor upon arrival?

Once you come up to Terminal 1, you're on the 2nd floor!

For those departing, it's the 3rd floor (Departures)

If you're meeting someone arriving, head to the 1st floor (Arrivals)

On this particular day, I wasn't here to catch a flight, but rather to pick someone up, so I headed to the 1st floor (Arrivals).

The path from getting off the Airport Railroad to entering the terminal was really well signposted, so it wasn't too difficult.

So, will I take it again?

As for the Airport Railroad itself, I was quite satisfied!

Especially the transfer at Seoul Station, which was more convenient than I expected.

Plus, with well-placed moving walkways and escalators,

even if you have luggage,

if it's more than ~$7 difference, I'd say it's definitely worth it!!

The only snag, haha, is that Seoul Station is quite a distance from my place. ㅠ

So, when heading to the airport from home, I'll likely still opt for the airport limousine in the future.

But if I lived in downtown Seoul/Incheon​

or was departing from near Myeongdong, Chungmuro, or Seoul Station?

Then I'd probably use the Airport Railroad (All-Stop Train) quite frequently.

That price difference is hard to ignore, you know? 😉
