1] Namsan Tower Basic Information

N Seoul Tower
was constructed in 1969 and opened in 1975 as Seoul's first
integrated radio wave tower.
With a tower height of 236.7m and an elevation of approximately 480m above sea level,
it's a prominent landmark offering panoramic views of Seoul.
By day, you can admire the Han River, Bukhansan Mountain, and the city skyline;
when the sun sets, a glittering night view unfolds.
Beyond the observatory, there are exhibition halls, restaurants, and souvenir shops,
making it perfect for a half-day date or a family outing.
Nowadays, it's particularly considered
a must-visit spot for international tourists.

💡Quick Tip!
Did you know that the color of Namsan Tower's lights
indicates the fine dust concentration?
Light Color | Air Quality Level | Ultrafine Dust Concentration | Observatory's Comment |
🔵 Blue | Good | 0~15㎍/㎥ | It's a clear day where you can see beyond Gangnam all the way to Gyeonggi Province! |
🟢 Green | Normal | 16~35㎍/㎥ | You can enjoy the view without any issues. |
🟡 Yellow | Bad | 36~75㎍/㎥ | Visibility might be hazy, and it's best to minimize outdoor activities. |
🔴 Red | Very Bad | 76㎍/㎥ or more | It's difficult to see far. Consider adjusting your plans. |
On the day I visited, the tower lights were blue 💙
Blue indicates 'Good' ultrafine dust levels,
so the view was incredibly clear and refreshing~
Now, just by looking at the Namsan Tower lights,
you'll know at a glance what Seoul's air quality is like today, right?

2] How to Get to Namsan Tower

[🚌 Bus]
The Namsan circulation bus
runs from the directions of Chungmuro Station, Dongguk University Station, and the National Theater
to near the tower.
Namsan HAECHI Bus No. 01A/01B |
This Namsan circulation bus is decorated with Haechi, Seoul's official mascot. Board at Namsan Yejang Bus Transfer Parking Lot (close to Myeongdong Station). Takes 20 minutes to reach the tower. |
[🚇 Subway]
Subway Line 4, Myeongdong Station | 10-minute walk to the cable car boarding point |
Subway Line 3, Dongguk University Station | Take the circulation bus |
Subway Line 4, Chungmuro Station | Take the circulation bus |
Walking up from the subway station
can take quite a bit of time and energy,
so even those coming by subway should take the circulation bus
and get off at the last stop.
On nice days like these,
walking up could also be enjoyable,
so I recommend getting off before the last stop
and enjoying a walk up 👍🏻
[🚗 Parking Tips for Driving]
Entry for private vehicles is restricted at the top of Namsan,
so it's difficult to drive directly in front of the tower.

Seoul's Iconic Landmark
'Namsan Tower'

The fortress wall path we encountered on the way up,
and the Seoul night view stretching beyond it, was truly breathtaking!

Even the lighting along the path up was so beautiful,
you wouldn't want to miss a single detail.
