The annual highlight of autumn, the spectacular Seoul World Fireworks Festival, is just around the corner!
As a huge fan of fireworks, I always try to catch the show, whether from popular viewing spots or right in the heart of the action at Yeouido Hangang Park.
Having experienced the festival from both Danginri Power Plant and Yeouido Hangang Park, I've gathered all the pros and cons. Here's my guide to where to go this year, including the 2026 Seoul Fireworks Festival schedule, location, and crucial packing essentials.

1. 2026 Seoul World Fireworks Festival Schedule & Location
The 2026 Seoul World Fireworks Festival is set to light up the skies over Yeouido Hangang Park on Saturday, September 5th.
This year, expect dazzling displays from international teams representing South Korea, the UK, and the USA.
While festivities kick off in the afternoon, the main fireworks spectacle begins in the evening.

Naturally, the grand finale by the South Korean team is always the biggest and most spectacular.
From my past experiences, it's common for there to be slight delays in the schedule, so the second and third country's shows often start a little later than planned.
The fireworks are launched primarily from the Han River, centered around both sides of Wonhyo Bridge. This means your viewing experience can vary drastically depending on your vantage point along the river.
You'll find information booths and medical centers strategically placed throughout the area. It's a good idea to capture a screenshot of the official map so you know exactly where to go in case of an emergency.

2. What to Pack
Since the festival is held in early September, it's wise to come prepared for varying temperatures. Expect it to be quite warm during the day.
To snag a prime spot, you'll likely arrive several hours before the show begins, meaning you'll be waiting under the sun. However, once the sun sets, the river breeze can get chilly, so a light long-sleeved shirt, long pants, and a blanket are highly recommended.

3. Danginri Power Plant Review
After experiencing the Seoul Fireworks Festival from Yeouido back in 2015 and struggling with the crowds on the way home, I decided to try a "hidden gem" viewing spot in 2023: the Danginri Power Plant area.
I waited with anticipation for the fireworks to begin, but...
More than half of the fireworks were obscured by trees.
While some of the higher-flying fireworks were visible, a significant portion of the display was simply out of sight.
Due to the distance, the fireworks didn't appear as large as I had hoped.
While the advantage of fewer people was noticeable, if your main goal is to fully experience the Seoul Fireworks Festival, I wouldn't choose Danginri Power Plant again.
You *can* get a shot like this by zooming in on the really big, high-flying fireworks during the Korean team's show...
But honestly, it's probably best to go in expecting not to see much of the earlier shows from other countries.
Pros:
Fewer crowds than Yeouido
Easier to get home after the fireworks
Cons:
Fireworks appear much smaller than expected
View often obstructed by trees
The overall space is still quite cramped, making movement difficult, similar to Yeouido

4. Yeouido Hangang Park Review
So, in 2024, I arrived at Yeouido Hangang Park around 4:00 PM, only to find it already packed with people, making it hard to even find standing room.
The following year, in 2025, I decided to head to Yeouinaru *before* lunchtime.
The photo above shows the subway station around 11:00 AM on festival day in 2025 – it was already bustling!
Despite the crowds, safety personnel were everywhere, so it never felt dangerous or overly chaotic.
Even though many people had already arrived, I still found several spots to lay down a picnic blanket.
After securing our spot with a blanket and grabbing some lunch, we returned around 4:00 PM to find the park unbelievably more crowded than it had been in the morning.
There were also plenty of vendors selling snacks and drinks, including beer, so I realized we didn't necessarily need to pack our own food or picnic basket.
Once the fireworks show began, staying there since morning felt absolutely worth it.
Although some tall trees partially obscured the view, the difference in visibility compared to Danginri Power Plant was undeniable.
Even the lower fireworks were clearly visible!
The massive fireworks soaring high into the sky were perfectly clear, with no obstruction from smaller trees!
There were indeed a *lot* of people, but everyone was courteous, so my view wasn't blocked by others, and I didn't feel uncomfortable.
Based on my experience at both locations, even with the crowds, Yeouido Hangang Park offered a far more satisfying experience.
If avoiding crowds is your top priority:
→ Consider distant viewing spots like the Danginri area.
If the size of the fireworks and the overall spectacle are important:
→ Head to Yeouido Hangang Park.
While securing a good spot means a long wait, if you want to experience the Seoul Fireworks Festival fully, from the subtle low-level displays to the grand, high-flying explosions, I highly recommend viewing it from Yeouido.
Of course, atop Wonhyo Bridge is also a great option if you want to avoid trees obstructing your view, but it's quite a distance from restrooms and other amenities.
Considering the event lasts for several hours, being able to easily access restrooms, food, and drinks makes Yeouido Hangang Park the more practical choice, in my opinion.
Getting home from Yeouido Park after the fireworks can be a challenge, but if you treat it as a relaxing evening picnic by the Han River and just sit and chat for 20-30 minutes after the show, it won't be nearly as chaotic.
Alternatively, you can always stick around for the after-party DJ performance happening nearby!
The fireworks festival I saw from Yeouido last year (2025) was absolutely breathtaking and beautiful!
This year, I plan to arrive early again to enjoy the stunning fireworks up close!
The 2026 Seoul International Fireworks Festival will be held on Saturday, September 5th, at Yeouido Hangang Park. Pre-events will run from 1 PM to 7 PM, the main fireworks show from 8 PM to 9:10 PM, and the after-DJ performance from 9:10 PM to 10 PM.
The UK team will perform for 15 minutes from 8:00 PM to 8:15 PM, and the USA team will perform for 15 minutes from 8:20 PM to 8:35 PM. The Korean team is scheduled to present the largest and most spectacular fireworks for 30 minutes, from 8:40 PM to 9:10 PM.
Watching from Dangin-ri Power Plant means fewer crowds and easier travel home, but the fireworks can be obscured by trees and appear smaller. Yeouido Hangang Park, while crowded, offers a clear view of fireworks from low-level to large-scale displays and provides convenient access to nearby amenities.
To prepare for the daytime heat and the chilly river breeze at night, it's advisable to bring water, a hat, a parasol, a handheld fan, a thin long-sleeved shirt, long pants, and a blanket. Additionally, a picnic mat, a power bank, mosquito repellent, and personal trash bags for a clean viewing experience should also be on your list of essentials.
