Every October, there's one place I find myself returning to year after year: the Seoul Eulalia Festival at Haneul Park (하늘공원) in Sangam-dong (상암동).
Even after several annual visits, ascending to Haneul Park, overflowing with silver grass, always makes me want to pull out my camera. It's beautiful in its own way during the day, and as the sun sets, the entire field transforms into a golden spectacle, creating a completely different ambiance depending on the time of your visit.
And yes, the 2026 Seoul Eulalia Festival is back again this year!

Recommended Visit Time | 4-6 PM, around sunset |
From my experience visiting every year, the festival, especially on weekends, gets incredibly crowded. If you're driving, you can use the parking lot near Nanjicheon Park (난지천공원) and then transfer to Haneul Park. However, to avoid traffic congestion during the festival, public transportation is highly recommended.
For repeat visitors like myself, I suggest arriving a bit earlier than peak weekend afternoon hours, or planning an afternoon trip to catch both the sunset and the night views.
If you truly want to soak in the autumn atmosphere in October, Haneul Park in Sangam-dong is an essential stop. I visit every year, and the sight of the silver grass swaying in the wind is always unique and captivating.
During the festival, there are also evening attractions. The lighting shows are scheduled to start at 7:00 PM, 7:30 PM, and 8:00 PM, so it's a great idea to go up around sunset, enjoy the silver grass, and then stay for the night lights! It's completely free, after all!
How to Get to Haneul Park
If it's your first time visiting, be prepared for a good amount of walking. You can take the subway to World Cup Stadium Station (월드컵경기장역) on Line 6 or Mapo-gu Office Station (마포구청역). From either station, it's about a 40-minute walk to Haneul Park.
If walking isn't ideal, especially for families, you can use the Maengkkongyi Electric Car (맹꽁이 전기차) from Nanjicheon Park Parking Lot 2.

If you're with kids, definitely take the Maengkkongyi Electric Car! Otherwise, you'll be carrying them up and down the hill!
It's a great way to shorten the travel distance, especially if you're visiting with parents or young children. You can also bring strollers on the Maengkkongyi Electric Car, so a stroller is a must! You'll still do quite a bit of walking once you're at the top.

Haneul Park: A Great Spot for Families in Sangam-dong

Haneul Park's Silver Grass is Always Special, Year After Year
My absolute favorite time to visit Haneul Park (하늘공원) each year is around sunset.
If you go during the day, you can capture the clear blue sky and the silver grass vibrantly. But if you wait a little longer for sunset, a completely different landscape unfolds. What's fantastic is that Haneul Park is situated on a high point, so as you walk through the silver grass fields, you can also gaze down at the Seoul skyline and the Han River area.
If photography is your main goal, don't just stay at the entrance. Follow the walking paths deeper into the silver grass fields. Once you move away from the crowded entrance, you'll find much more space to take your photos peacefully.

A Local's Insider Tip!
And if you have extra time, don't just see the silver grass! On the way up to Haneul Park, there's a fork in the road leading to a Metasequoia Road (메타세쿼이아 길). This is a spot only locals really know about, and it's practically my daily walking path!

It's truly stunning at sunset – you have to see it in person! This long walking path is located below Haneul Park, lined with tall metasequoia trees on both sides, creating a truly wonderful atmosphere.

No need to go all the way to Nami Island (남이섬) for this experience! If you have any questions, feel free to leave a comment, and I'll be happy to help!
