Did you know there's a pie shop in Seongsu (성수) that BTS's Jungkook visited? My sister, a huge ARMY, heard the buzz and led me straight to Hogwadang (호과당), Seongsu's renowned pie spot!
Hogwadang Essential Info
Address - 45, Seoulsup 2-gil, Seongdong-gu, Seoul (서울특별시 성동구 서울숲2길 45)
Operating Hours - 10:30 AM - 9:30 PM (Mon-Fri) / 10:00 AM - 9:30 PM (Sat, Sun)

As soon as we stepped into the alley near the shop, the rich, savory aroma of butter filled the air! It was absolutely intoxicating. I wondered where such a delicious scent was coming from, and then I saw it – Hogwadang!
Even international visitors were lining up to grab a pie, and almost everyone walking by in the alley seemed to have a Hogwadang pie in hand. The place was bustling.
I wanted to snap a photo of the exterior without anyone in it, but that was impossible! I had to quickly grab a shot when there was a slight lull in customers.
Hogwadang Pie Selection

Hogwadang, Seongsu's popular pie shop, offers a focused menu of just four delicious pie types:
Tomato Meat Taco Pie
Garlic Chicken Taco Pie
Sweet Apple Pie
Autumn Pumpkin Pie
Inside the shop, there were boxes of apples stacked high, and even the pie illustrations on the wall looked incredibly tempting!

That's right! This is the pie shop visited by BTS's Jungkook! I initially thought he was the only idol to have stopped by, but it turns out EXO's Chanyeol (찬열) and TWICE's Tzuyu (쯔위) have also enjoyed these delicious pies!
Hogwadang Pie Prices

Tomato Meat Taco Pie ₩6,300 (~$5)
Garlic Chicken Taco Pie ₩6,500 (~$5)
Sweet Apple Pie ₩5,200 (~$4)
Autumn Pumpkin Pie with Sweet Potato Filling ₩5,600 (~$4)
I really wanted to take some beautiful individual photos of each pie, but my photography skills clearly failed me here!

The staff members were incredibly enthusiastic and full of energy! My sister mentioned that one of the male staff members resembled a K-pop idol, and looking at the photos while writing this, I noticed he even struck a V-pose for the camera! They were so friendly and excellent at promoting their freshly baked pies.

The freshly baked pies looked so incredibly appetizing. When I went to take a picture, the staff were considerate enough to step aside!

Looking at the pictures on the banner, it's clear they're suggesting a picnic at Seoul Forest (서울숲), right? We made sure to snap some photos of our neatly packaged pies!

As we pondered where to enjoy our pies, I suggested we head to Seoul Forest (서울숲) for a picnic, since it had been a while. My sister eagerly agreed, exclaiming that J-Hope Garden (제이홉 정원) was there!
Coincidentally, the Seoul International Garden Expo and a SNOOPY Garden (스누피가든) pop-up were also taking place, which made our visit even more exciting.
Just a fun fact: we even spotted celebrity couple Joo Sang-wook (주상욱) and Cha Ye-ryun (차예련) having a picnic in Seoul Forest – it's no secret now!

We found a lovely spot between J-Hope Garden and the SNOOPY Garden pop-up and enjoyed our pies!
It would have been even better if we'd brought a picnic mat like everyone else. If you're planning a picnic at Seoul Forest, I highly recommend bringing a simple mat along with your snacks!
Hogwadang Pie Recommendation

Back in my younger days, I used to bake pies at Pie Face in Brisbane, Australia, so trust me when I say: if you visit Hogwadang, you absolutely HAVE to try the Tomato Meat Taco Pie! The crispy pie crust combined with the bursting umami flavor of the sauce is just insane!
It's packed with a generous amount of meat, making it a fantastic meal replacement. While it pairs well with a soda, it would also be an excellent companion to a cold beer!

Even though I said I was full, I was so captivated by the Tomato Meat Taco Pie that I immediately tried the Apple Pie next. Even after cooling down slightly during our walk, the Apple Pie was still incredibly delicious.
Although I don't have a picture, I saved the Autumn Pumpkin Pie with Sweet Potato Filling for breakfast the next day at our accommodation. Even a day later and eaten cold, its sweet aroma was perfectly preserved, and it was wonderfully satisfying!
Though my ARMY sister initially pulled me to Hogwadang, the moment I smelled those freshly baked pies, it exceeded all my expectations. If you're planning a day out in Seongsu or a picnic at Seoul Forest, I highly recommend stopping by Hogwadang!
Personally, the Tomato Meat Taco Pie is an absolute must-try!
