I found myself wondering, “Is this really Daejeon?”

But after visiting again,

the scenery had completely transformed.

The lush green hue has taken a step back,

and a golden glow, kissed by the sun, now blankets the entire wheat field.

With harvest season drawing near,

if you're looking to capture some stunning seasonal photos in Daejeon

without spending a dime,

this week is a pretty crucial time to visit!

The Seongsimdang Wheat Field is

a lovely free walking course that's perfect for a light stroll of about 20-30 minutes.

It's perfect for anyone looking to add one more scenic stop after their Seongsimdang bakery adventure,

or for those who crave a peaceful outdoor escape rather than crowded indoor spaces.

Like me, you can visit alone with your camera without any hassle,

and it's a great spot to capture seasonal photos

in a short amount of time.

However, since the path is a mix of dirt and grassy trails,

it might not be easy for strollers or wheelchairs.

2. What Color is the Seongsimdang Wheat Field Right Now?

Date Visited: June 2, 2026

The Seongsimdang Wheat Field, on my return visit,

was definitely different from the green wheat field

I'd seen just a few days prior.

Back then, it felt like green waves rippled

through the field with every gust of wind.

Now, with hints of yellow emerging,

the entire field feels much warmer.

While it might look like a yellow wheat field in photos,

in reality, you'll see a beautiful blend of green and golden hues.

It's not completely dried out yet;

the field is slowly ripening

as harvest approaches.

While it's refreshing when green,

it becomes a magnificent sight when fully ripened to yellow.

From this weekend into next week,

I expect it to take on an even more brilliant golden hue.

So, if you've been wanting to see the Seongsimdang Wheat Field,

I highly recommend visiting before it's too late!

When you visit,

Please don't force your way into the wheat field,

and only move carefully along the designated paths.

Seongsimdang Wheat Field

is actually a working wheat farm,

so more than just getting a perfect photo,

it's really about respecting and protecting the wheat.

The grass and wheat ears

can be quite prickly,

so I recommend wearing long pants instead of shorts.

3. Why should you visit before the harvest?

Seongsimdang Wheat Field

isn't like a typical tourist destination

that looks the same all four seasons.

Because wheat grows, ripens, and is harvested,

the scenery you see now

can only be enjoyed for a very short period.

With natural landscapes,

timing is everything, isn't it?

Soon enough,

it will be harvested,

so the golden wheat field you see today

probably won't be around for long.

If you're looking for places to visit in Daejeon in June,

this isn't a place you can put off for later;

it's more of a 'must-visit this week' kind of spot.

4. How to get there?

For first-time visitors,

finding the entrance is often the most confusing part.

The easiest way to visit right now is

through the area behind Gyochon Elementary School.

It's a good idea to set Gyochon Elementary School as your destination on your navigation.

After heading towards the back gate of Gyochon Elementary School,

from the road behind the school parking lot,

follow the dirt path,

and it will lead you to the wheat field.

🚍 Public Transportation

You can take bus lines 211 / 212 / 704 / or Village Bus 3.

After getting off at J-Park Apartments, walk for approximately 10 minutes.

There isn't a dedicated parking lot.

While parking is generally not allowed at elementary schools,

it's currently open,

so many people park in the Gyochon Elementary School parking lot.

You can also park in the alleys around the school.

Approx. 3-5 minute walk

If you look in the parking lot, towards the fence on the mountain side at the back,

you'll see a white gate (?).

Follow the unpaved path a little further until you reach a fork in the road,

and if you take the right path,

you'll find the Seongsimdang sign,

the main photo spot,

and the expansive wheat field.

*Currently, the opposite side,

the entrance towards the main road, is not open.

5. Where to snap those incredible, life-affirming photos?

If you're taking photos at Seongsimdang Wheat Field,

I'd like to recommend two main spots.

One is the Sungsimdang letter photo zone,

and the other is a low-angle shot where you can capture the wheat ears up close.

The Sungsimdang letter photo zone is perfect for anyone

to leave behind a quintessential photo op to mark your visit.

With the wheat field, trees,

and sky all in one frame,

it's great for capturing a memorable photo

for your Daejeon travelogue.

The second tip is to take photos up close to the wheat ears.

Lower your camera slightly,

and the golden ears of wheat

will appear even more abundant.

If you go a little further in and capture a moment of yourself strolling amongst them,

you'll get

your best shot ever!

The vast golden wheat field

is so photogenic that even with a casual snap, you'll capture an amazing shot.

However, since this is an actual cultivated wheat field,

please don't venture too far inside.

Even from the edge of the path,

you can capture beautiful photos safely.

6. Will it feel awkward if I go alone?

Quite the opposite, it's wonderful!

There aren't many people,

and it's quiet,

so walking around with a camera by yourself

felt completely comfortable.

There were so few people that

I stood in front of the wheat field for a long time,

taking photos,

and listening to the sound of the wind.

Being alone,

I was able to take my time and really soak it all in.

I'd highly recommend it as a solo travel destination.

7. Any downsides?

Compared to the scenery I saw last year,

there were a few things that felt a little disappointing.

Some of the wheat ears were lying down in places,

and there was more grass than I expected.

So, it didn't have the same

completely golden glow

as it did last year.

However, since this is

an actual working wheat field,

the scenery can't be exactly the same every year, right?

While it's not a perfectly manicured photo zone,

that's precisely why it had a more natural, authentic seasonal feel.

Rather than expecting a perfectly golden wheat field,

it might be better to visit with the mindset of seeing a real Daejeon wheat field before harvest.

8. If I went again, when would I like to go?

I'd like to go once when it's green,

I recently had the chance to visit it, now that it's taken on its glorious golden hue.

If I had to choose just one,

still, the Seongsimdang Wheat Field as it is now truly stands out in my memory.

While it might not have been completely bathed in golden hues like last year,

the unique atmosphere of a wheat field just before harvest is absolutely captivating.

The refreshing green wheat fields,

as the season ripens and comes into its own.

If you're seeking a serene spot to explore solo in Daejeon this June,

9. Essential Tips Before Your Visit!

✔️ It's a dirt path and grassy area, so sneakers are highly recommended!

✔️ Visiting around sunset is highly recommended for breathtaking views.

✔️ Since there's plenty of grass and the wheat stalks can be a bit prickly, long pants are a smart choice.

✔️ If you're not a fan of bugs, mosquito repellent is an absolute must-have.

✔️ Please refrain from entering deep into the wheat field – remember, it's an active agricultural area!

✔️ A breezy day is perfect, as it creates the most spectacular 'waves' across the wheat field!

Even if the golden glow before harvest isn't absolutely perfect,

it was still a wonderfully beautiful Seongsimdang Wheat Field, perfect for quietly soaking in the season on your own.
