Sangari Palm Forest Jeju Review: Hidden Winter Oasis

Around the end of last year, I took a 4-day, 3-night trip to Jeju Island to use up my remaining annual leave.

I checked off so many places on my Jeju bucket list and made the most of my trip by using a 24-hour Jeju Tour Pass to visit tons of famous spots and cafes!

One of the highlights was Sangari Palm Forest. Even though it was the winter season, so many people were still visiting late into the evening.

When I first visited Sangari Palm Forest years ago, it was a hidden gem on private land, but now the owner is running it directly as an official attraction.

The owner of Sangari Palm Forest does an amazing job managing this beautiful space!

They offer free rentals for power banks and tripods, and they sell water and drinks at super reasonable prices.

The admission fee is also very budget-friendly, making the whole experience feel so warm and welcoming.

Even before stepping inside Aewol Sangari Palm Forest, my heart felt so warm because

they had set up a cozy corner with complimentary Maxim coffee and tea. Even without drinking any, the gesture instantly melted the winter chill.

There are also tropical-style tables nestled under palm trees, perfect for taking a quick, relaxing break.

Unlike back when it was just a raw private estate, they’ve beautifully decorated the space and laid out lovely walking paths!

In the past, it felt more like a rustic farm where you just went to see the palm trees, but now it’s a fully curated botanical experience.

Since I visited Jeju in December, there was even a cute little Santa hanging snugly on one of the palm trees!

Fascinatingly, Sangari Palm Forest in Aewol is where Korea’s very first palm seeds and saplings were cultivated back in 1953!

The pioneer behind this must have been incredibly visionary. Growing tropical palm trees on Jeju Island back then is just so cool!

They’ve designed some fantastic photo zones along the forest pathways!

There’s a spot with two charming chairs and a designated photo zone sign, so of course, I had to stop for a quick picture.

If you're visiting as a couple, sitting side-by-side on those chairs would make for an absolutely picture-perfect shot.

I personally love back-angle shots, so I posed facing away from the camera for a dreamy, aesthetic look.

I took quite a few shots framed by these majestic palm trees.

If you visit during off-peak hours, you can get the entire palm grove to yourself for crowd-free, stunning photos.

Because of this, I highly recommend visiting a bit later in the evening!

After admiring the giant palm trees earlier, I decided to wander into the mini palm tree grove.

Honestly, these smaller palms felt even cooler and made me feel like I had been transported straight to Southeast Asia.

As you keep strolling along the Sangari Palm Forest path, you'll spot cute little chairs set up here and there—perfect for kids to sit and take photos!

Sangari Palm Forest is absolutely packed with amazing photo spots.

The colorful chairs and the iconic Jeju Dolharubang (stone grandfather statue) with adorable heart-shaped eyes and lips immediately caught my eye!

It would also be so much fun to come here with a group of friends, line up on the chairs, and snap a group photo to remember the trip.

Walking through the palm forest path truly feels like a tropical escape.

It's so peaceful and lush, making it a wonderful place for a quiet, solitary stroll.

If you visit Sangari Palm Forest on a day when Jeju's sky is crystal clear,

make sure to frame your shot looking up at the sky through the palm leaves. You'll get an absolutely stunning photo!

There’s a little path framed by a heart-shaped stone wall that's perfect for a photo-op,

and since I couldn't just walk past such a gorgeous backdrop, I had to stop and take a photo.

(If you're lucky, you might even catch a plane flying overhead in your shot!)

Try taking a photo sitting on these two red chairs with the shorter palm trees as your backdrop.

It makes for an incredibly scenic shot and a beautiful memory to look back on.

Traveling around Jeju, I found so much healing here at Sangari Palm Forest, and it seriously felt like I was on a vacation abroad!

If you manage to visit when it's not crowded, it's so peaceful. Just listening to the gentle rustling of the palm leaves is pure bliss.
