Samchuniyagi Jeju Black Pork Review 2026: A Family Favorite
After years of passing by, we finally discovered Samchuniyagi in Jeju City! This black pork gem so impressed us, we returned with family just four days later. Find out why!
For seven years, I lived on Jeju Island, countless times driving past a particular BBQ restaurant without ever stepping inside.
That place was Samchuniyagi in Nohyeong-dong.
It's strange, really. I'd actively seek out the best black pork restaurants across Jeju City, yet this fantastic spot, right in my neighborhood, somehow always slipped under my radar.

Then, my husband visited Samchuniyagi for a company dinner. He came home raving about the incredible meat and insisted we go together.
Our first visit was surprisingly satisfying. So much so that just four days later, when my mother-in-law came to visit Jeju, we found ourselves bringing her back to this very spot!
There are two Samchuniyagi locations on Jeju Island, but we visited the one in Nohyeong-dong.
Black Pork Neck (Heuk-Moksal) 7 oz: ~$15
Black Pork Belly (Heuk-Ogyeopsal) 7 oz: ~$15
Marinated Ribs (Yangnyeom-Galbi) 10.5 oz: ~$14
The menu featured Black Pork Belly, Black Pork Neck, and Jeju-style marinated ribs. We opted for the Black Pork Belly (Heuk-Ogyeopsal).

Before the main event, the complimentary side dishes were quite impressive.

We were served marinated crab (Yangnyeom Gejang) and savory pork rind, and even beef tartare sushi as a special service!

The marinated crab and beef tartare sushi were particularly delightful, perfect for nibbling on while waiting for the Black Pork Belly to cook.

The absolute highlight at Samchuniyagi was, without a doubt, the Black Pork Belly. The charcoal grill was excellent, ensuring the meat cooked beautifully and tasted incredibly flavorful. I especially loved the chewy texture of the skin, which was perfectly rendered.

I've tried numerous black pork restaurants in Jeju City over the years, but Samchuniyagi's unique chewy texture truly stood out and left a lasting impression.

And here's another small but fantastic detail: the unlimited pork rind service! Haha!
I initially thought the single piece of pork rind that came out first was the only service item. But it turns out they keep bringing it, almost like an all-you-can-eat offering.

While the black pork belly is definitely the star, grilling the pork rind alongside it on the charcoal was surprisingly addictive. I just kept reaching for more.
If you're someone who enjoys a drink with your BBQ, this makes for an excellent accompaniment. It might seem like a small thing, but for those who appreciate a good beverage, such a service is truly a welcome bonus! Haha!

After indulging in plenty of meat, we were delighted to find that the Soybean Paste Stew (Doenjang-jjigae) was served free of charge. My husband and I always like to finish our BBQ meals with rice and doenjang-jjigae, so this complimentary, flavorful stew was a perfect ending to our meal. We loved it! Haha!
Beyond the delicious food, what truly made Samchuniyagi memorable was the exceptional service from the owner.
Throughout our meal, they frequently checked on our table, asking if we needed anything else. They even proactively offered more pork rind! LOL!
It wasn't just a matter of serving the food and being done; they consistently attended to us during our meal, making for a truly comfortable dining experience.

Just four days after our first delightful black pork meal at Samchuniyagi, my mother-in-law arrived in Jeju for a visit.
As we pondered where to take her for black pork, Samchuniyagi, where we had just dined and been so pleased, immediately came to mind.
While trying a new place is always fun, we felt it was best to take her somewhere we knew and loved. So, we brought her to Samchuniyagi.
That day, we ordered the Black Pork Belly again, and thankfully, my mother-in-law thoroughly enjoyed it too! Haha!

The fact that we revisited with family just four days after our initial visit speaks volumes about how satisfied we were.
We've since moved away from Jeju Island, so a quick return isn't in the cards right now. However, if I ever find myself back in Jeju, Samchuniyagi will definitely be on my mind.
It was a place I'd seen for seven years while living in Jeju, only to finally visit and then return again within four days! Haha!
On my next trip to Jeju, if I'm searching for a fantastic black pork restaurant in Jeju City, this is one spot I'd love to revisit.
