I recently found myself craving their classic Kalguksu, so I made a trip back!
I've been coming here off and on since my eldest child attended cultural classes at the E-Mart next door, back when a bowl of Kalguksu was only ~$3. I visited quite often during those classes, and now it's ~$4....;;;;
But even with today's higher prices in 2026, ~$4 is still an incredible value!
There was a period when the broth became a bit bland and disappointing, so I stopped going for a while. But I'm happy to report they've brought the broth back to its original delicious standard!
(We don't ask for much at such a low price, just that it stays consistently good!)

Self-Serve Bar
You can get unlimited refills of kimchi from the self-serve bar.
Kimchi
They offer two types of kimchi: a more fermented, sour version and a fresher, less fermented one. It's great to be able to pick your preference and get as much as you like from the self-serve bar.
Each table also has pickled chili peppers (gochujangajji), which are absolutely delicious here! They're fantastic with the noodles.

We always stick to our usual, the Kalguksu.
It comes with chives and seaweed flakes, but the toppings are minimal.
I like to add more of the pickled chili peppers and some seasoning paste to my bowl.
The noodle portion is quite generous. For just ~$4, and not even an extra-large serving, it feels like the noodles never end!
Having eaten it again this time, I can confirm the broth is back to its excellent quality (which is why I'm writing this post!). Apparently, at one point, too much water was added, which altered the broth's flavor.
Don't expect a refreshing seafood broth; this is more like the simple, comforting anchovy broth you'd make at home.
It's perfect for my mom, who isn't a big fan of seafood, and she often craves this specific taste.
That's why this is a place we've been visiting for over 10 years!
