Did you know that Pocheon Art Valley was a granite quarry until the 1960s?
After quarrying ceased, it was left abandoned for a long time, but now it has been reborn as a complex cultural and artistic space, complete with Cheonjuho Lake (천주호), a sculpture park, and an astronomical science museum.

The path from the ticket office to Cheonjuho Lake is quite steep, so while you can walk, we recommend taking the monorail.

03. Pocheon Art Valley, Cheonjuho Lake (천주호), and Sculpture Park (조각공원) Visit Review

I visited last October, in autumn.
With the beautiful autumn foliage and Cheonjuho Lake views,
I really wanted to recommend Pocheon as an autumn travel destination.

Behind the clear, jade-colored water, towering cliffs
surround it like a folding screen. After seeing this spectacular sight in person,
it's easy to understand why this place was chosen as a filming location for so many dramas
(I couldn't help but understand, hehe!).
(The Legend of the Blue Sea, Moon Lovers: Scarlet Heart Ryeo, etc.)

It's also in a perfect location and atmosphere for a drive
from the outskirts of Seoul,
and the fact that you can easily do it as a day trip
is a huge advantage, I think.

I took the monorail up to Cheonjuho Lake,
but there's also an option to walk up, which takes about 15 minutes.

Of course, walking up yourself is good for your health
and allows you to enjoy the autumn foliage more leisurely,
but since comfort is my top priority, I recommend the monorail!

Since the monorail moves slowly,
another charm is being able to admire the autumn leaves and cliff scenery
unfolding outside the window.

If you visit Pocheon Art Valley (포천아트밸리) this October or November,
it's perfect for a scenic autumn foliage trip with your parents,
and since it also has an astronomical science museum, an art gallery, and cafes inside,
it seems great for a family outing with kids too.
At night, colorful lights illuminate the area,
making the atmosphere even more romantic and magnificent.
It's also a perfect date spot for couples, isn't it?

Regardless of age or who you're with,
Gyeonggi-do Pocheon (경기도 포천) is a place everyone can enjoy,
I think it's a truly enriching travel destination in Gyeonggi-do.

If you're looking for an autumn foliage destination this year,
why not consider visiting Pocheon Art Valley?
