Hello, fellow food adventurers!
This is Minimanimu, your guide to culinary delights.
Recently, I took a refreshing weekend trip to Pocheon for some much-needed relaxation.
My original plan was to enjoy some famous Pocheon 이동갈비 (galbi) for lunch, but to my dismay, the restaurant was closed for a private event that day.
Feeling a bit flustered and hungry, I quickly searched for local eateries nearby.
That's how I stumbled upon this place, and it turned out to be an unexpectedly delicious discovery!
Here's my honest, self-funded review of 'Gangnam Myeon-ga,' a handmade noodle specialist located near Pocheon's beautiful Sanjeong Lake and Mongber CC!

Exterior / Interior
It's super accessible, just a 4-minute drive from Sanjeong Lake and an 8-minute drive from Mongber CC.

Beautiful hydrangeas blooming by the entrance greet you, setting a lovely mood from the start.

We visited during peak lunch hours, and true to its reputation as a Pocheon hotspot, guests kept flowing in.
The interior is clean and features mostly four-person tables that can be easily combined, making it perfect for groups or families. We saw plenty of both!

Menu & Our Order
Gangnam Myeon-ga is renowned for making all its dishes from scratch with utmost care.
The dumplings, in particular, are freshly handmade by the owner daily!
Their menu is packed with seasonal delights, from their signature handmade Hamheung Naengmyeon in summer to hearty dishes like Royal Galbitang (beef short rib soup), Yukgaejang (spicy beef soup), and Tteok Mandu-guk (rice cake and dumpling soup) in winter.

Our Order
·2-Person Set (2 Naengmyeon + Galbijjim) ~$38
Our Experience
After ordering, a spread of neat side dishes, along with tongs, scissors, and individual plates, was brought to our table.
The complimentary banchan included stir-fried fish cakes, sautéed mushrooms, radish kimchi, stir-fried bok choy, and young radish kimchi. Everything tasted homemade and crafted with care, just like a delicious home-cooked meal.

But the real showstopper was the warm, savory broth served in a kettle!
Its rich, umami flavor was exceptional. A sprinkle of pepper (available on the table) made it even better, warming us up and whetting our appetites perfectly before the main courses arrived.

Soon after, the star of the show, the Galbijjim, arrived, exuding a tempting aroma of sweet and spicy sauce.
Served piping hot in an earthenware pot, it was beautifully garnished with chili peppers and mushrooms.

At first, I thought the portion might be small, but after cutting it with scissors, I realized it contained at least four substantial short ribs with incredibly thick, tender meat still attached.

It was clearly slow-braised for a long time; the meat effortlessly separated from the bone with just a gentle tug of the tongs.
The sauce had a delightful balance of sweet and spicy – a pleasant kick that even those sensitive to spice would enjoy without feeling overwhelmed.

Next came the Hamheung-style Mul Naengmyeon, featuring chewy, freshly made noodles.
It arrived in a generously sized, deep bowl, with an icy broth and neatly arranged toppings.

A perfect shot of Galbijjim and Mul Naengmyeon together!!

Place some refreshing, tangy Mul Naengmyeon noodles on your spoon, top it with a generous piece of tender galbijjim, and savor the perfect bite!
