Pfiff Espresso Bar Yeonnam: Seoul Late-Night Coffee

It's been a while since my last visit, but I finally made it back to Pfiff Espresso Bar, a cozy late-night spot tucked away in the trendy neighborhood of Yeonnam-dong near Hongdae.

When I first visited, I instantly fell in love with their rich, nutty, and perfectly balanced coffee, making it one of my absolute go-to spots in Seoul.

After enjoying a late-night dinner, I strolled over to find their doors still open, welcoming me in for a perfect shot of espresso to end the evening.

On warm summer nights, you don't even have to stick to coffee. They also serve refreshing drinks like Aperol Spritz and ice-cold beer.

With a great balance of coffee, non-caffeinated options, and a delightful selection of desserts, there's always something new to try, no matter how often you visit.

During the crisp spring and autumn months, the outdoor terrace is the place to be, letting you soak in the beautiful seasonal weather.

As one of the few spacious cafes in Yeonnam-dong, it's incredibly comfortable whether you're bringing a laptop to get some work done or just looking to unwind.

The Exterior Vibes

Pfiff Espresso Bar is nestled in a relatively quiet alley just off the popular Gyeongui Line Forest Park trail in Yeonnam-dong.

With the summer heat in full swing, sitting outside was a bit too warm this time, but during the cooler months, the terrace is pure romance.

The warm, cozy lighting makes it incredibly inviting. Since they stay open until 11:00 PM, it's the perfect spot to wind down after a late-night stroll. If you're searching for a spacious neighborhood cafe with great vibes, this is the place!

They run a Happy Hour from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM with a 1+1 (Buy One, Get One Free) deal on Aperol Spritz and beer! On a scorching summer day, grabbing a cold drink to-go while exploring the streets is an absolute lifesaver.

You can indulge in a variety of unique desserts here, including Stroopwafels, Macadamia platters, Tiramisu, and Peach Melba.

Even though it's an espresso bar, they have plenty of non-coffee drinks and dessert selections, making it fun to mix and match.

The dessert portions are perfectly sized—not too heavy, just small and cute—so I always find myself ordering a sweet treat alongside my coffee.

Pfiff Espresso Bar is also famous for its lighting aesthetics. There are several cozy "lighting zones" throughout the space that add to the moody, photogenic atmosphere.

The Menu

If you're on the go, you can enjoy their delicious espresso at a discounted price for takeout.

Coffee prices range from ~$2 to ~$4, while desserts are priced between ~$5 and ~$10.

What We Ordered

We ordered the Pfiff signature drink, the Panna Saltata (espresso + cream + pink salt), a Pfiff Coffee, and their classic Tiramisu.

Since we arrived late, many of the dessert options were already sold out, so we ended up going with the classic Tiramisu.

The Panna Saltata is my absolute must-order every single time I visit.

First up, the Pfiff Coffee. Infused with rich black sesame, this drink combines nutty espresso with sweet, earthy sesame paste for a heavy, comforting treat. If you love traditional, nutty flavors (a classic retro palate), this is right up your alley.

However, on a hot summer evening, such a dense and heavy drink can actually make you more thirsty—so it wasn't the best choice for the weather. Black sesame lattes are trending in Seoul right now, and this one felt pretty average. It's a decent latte with a subtle hint of sesame flavor, but nothing mind-blowing.

It's not an absolute must-try, but definitely a fun option if you enjoy earthy, roasted flavors.

Next is the Panna Saltata. If it's your first time at Pfiff, this is the ultimate signature drink you have to try. A perfect harmony of bold espresso, smooth cream, and pink salt, it delivers an incredible sweet-and-salty flavor profile.

One cup is never enough; you honestly need at least two to fully appreciate the layers of flavor.

The best part is the very last sip, where you get a sweet crunch of sugar crystals left at the bottom. It's perfection from start to finish.

The Tiramisu (~$5). Unfortunately, it fell a bit short during this visit. Both the price and the flavor felt a little disappointing. A great tiramisu needs a generous amount of rich mascarpone cheese, but this felt a bit lacking. With so many incredible dessert spots in Seoul raising the bar, this one could use a little improvement.

Next time, I'll definitely skip the tiramisu and try one of their other dessert options instead.
