During my latest trip to Jeju, I made sure to try gogi guksu (pork noodle soup) at three different places, and I can confidently say that Ondeokjip Guksu in Aewol was my absolute favorite!

A Great Spot for Breakfast in Aewol
Ondeokjip Guksu, Jeju
Ondeokjip Guksu is situated about a 12-minute drive (roughly 5 miles) from the popular Aewol Cafe Street. While online maps might suggest 15 minutes, you can expect the drive to take anywhere from 10 to 15 minutes.
I started my day from Shilla Stay Iho Beach, and it took me just over 10 minutes to reach, so their estimates are quite accurate.
Our travel plans required an early checkout, and we needed to find a place for breakfast. I was craving a warm bowl of gogi guksu, but I quickly realized that not many places open early enough.
That's when Ondeokjip Guksu, with its 8:00 AM opening time, became the obvious choice.
For parking, you'll find spots directly in front of and behind the restaurant, as well as along the roadside. While the parking area isn't massive, the restaurant's good turnover means you shouldn't have too much trouble finding a space.

The sign for Ondeokjip Guksu might look fairly unassuming, but don't let that fool you! It boasts an incredible location, right on the road overlooking the beautiful Aewol ocean.
We were lucky enough to grab a window seat, but if you secure a spot on the terrace closer to the road, you'll get an even more spectacular view of the sea.
We arrived around 10:00 AM, a slightly awkward time for a meal, but the restaurant was already bustling with people. As time went on, a queue even started to form!
The dining area isn't particularly large, so if you're traveling with a big group, I'd recommend calling ahead to check for availability before you visit.

Breakfast Review
Highly Recommended for Breakfast in Aewol
The menu at Ondeokjip Guksu is refreshingly simple, though they also offer Gogi Gukbap (pork rice soup). For those who might prefer rice over noodles for breakfast, the Gukbap could be a great alternative.
My family decided to order a variety of dishes to sample different flavors: Gogi Guksu, Myeolgo Guksu, and Bibim Guksu.
First up was the signature Gogi Guksu (~$7)!
I was genuinely surprised by how incredibly tender the pork was, and the broth was just perfect—light, savory, and not at all greasy. There was absolutely no gamey smell, which is a huge plus, and even my usually sensitive father finished every last drop of his soup!
It's a truly clean and satisfying flavor. The portion size is generous, but if you're extra hungry, you can get a larger portion for an additional ~$1.50.
This is the Myeolgo Guksu (~$7) my husband ordered.
It's essentially anchovy noodles topped with the same delicious pork from the Gogi Guksu. As a big fan of anchovy noodles myself, I found this dish to be just as tasty as the Gogi Guksu.
If the rich pork broth sounds a bit too heavy for you, this lighter, refreshing option is highly recommended!
For myself, I was craving something with a kick, so I ordered the Bibim Guksu (~$7).
It was generously loaded with what tasted like peanut powder, shredded radish kimchi, and cabbage, creating a fantastic crunchy texture that complemented the tender pork beautifully. It was a delightful symphony of flavors and textures!
Of course, it does have a bit of spice, so if you have a sensitive stomach, the milder Gogi Guksu might be a better choice.
My whole family was incredibly satisfied with Ondeokjip Guksu in Jeju! If you're looking for an amazing gogi guksu restaurant for breakfast near Aewol, I wholeheartedly recommend Ondeokjip Guksu.
